Fresh milk!

Sweet, soft, and tender bread!

All kinds of sweet and juicy fruits!

...

As the de facto controllers of Dark City, the City Guard wouldn’t neglect their own comfort.

In the warehouse, food and drinks were piled high like mountains, with even the air perated by delicious scents.

For the perennially hungry citizens of Dark City, who never had enough to eat, this was simply paradise!

Little Nan and Leon had never seen such a spectacle. Their eyes lit up, and if the timing had been right, they probably would have thrown themselves into the pile of food and rolled around.

"Don’t take the food." Carl’s voice, like a bucket of cold water poured over their heads, snapped them out of their frenzy. "Take what’s really valuable!"

"Oh!"

The two of them ca to their senses.

There were only two of them, and even with eight hands each, they couldn’t possibly take away a tenth of what was here, especially the food, which, although tempting, was relatively cheap.

Exotic Beast at, Dharma Seal seeds, healing Potions, and even collected books were the real treasures.

Carl didn’t rush to start collecting but quickly circled the warehouse, finally finding his target in an inconspicuous corner.

These were two grain sacks, filled to the brim with soul powder.

Soul powder was the main ingredient in the witchcraft Potion "Light of Wisdom," but here it was only known for its stimulating effects.

The City Guard, having not discovered its true purpose, didn’t care much for soul powder and thus stored it carelessly in burlap sacks.

Carl lifted the sacks, a look of ecstasy on his face.

Two bags of soul powder, totaling over a hundred pounds—enough to concoct at least a thousand doses of "Light of Wisdom."

I’ve struck it rich!

So much soul powder, more than one person could use in a lifeti!

Hmm?

He glanced back to see Little Nan and Leon desperately stuffing items into a cloth bag.

Carl stroked his chin. There were too many good things here, making it hard to be content with just the soul powder. Besides, taking the soul powder ant not being able to carry much else.

After so thought, he went to the area of the warehouse where precious items were kept, took out the more appealing items one by one, and placed them in a separate bundle.

The Dharma Seals were a definite must-take. Although the ones here were of inferior quality, in this world, Dharma Seals were solid currency and could also replicate zero-circle tricks.

Then there was the Exotic Beast at. The warehouse actually held several portions of high-quality Exotic Beast at, which he also had to take.

Life Potions! This was sothing he had long coveted. In one of the boxes, there were indeed three portions, which he promptly secured.

Additionally, the City Guard had also been collecting various valuables: gold and silver items, jewelry, decorative pieces, and especially a small box containing so true rarities that absolutely could not be left behind.

"Alright." Seeing that he had gathered enough items, Carl waved to the two. "You guys go first. I’ll deal with this place. Even if we need to destroy the items, we can’t leave them for the City Guard."

As he spoke, with a sweep of his hand, he triggered a fire Dharma Seal. Flas surged towards the food storage area and imdiately ignited into a roaring blaze.

"Burning it?" Little Nan’s face contorted with regret. He instinctively gulped down a mouthful from a nearby milk can and then hastily shoved a piece of bread into his mouth.

"Let’s go." Leon, though slim, carried a package taller than himself and struggled to run outside. "We’ll talk once we’re out."

After the two left, Carl picked up the items beside him and stepped directly into the Divine Domain Fragnt.

After setting down the items, he returned.

He let out a small grunt. The quick transit to and from the Divine Domain Fragnt montarily disoriented him, his body swaying before he recovered. He then picked up the bundle at his feet and headed outside.

Simultaneously, he casually threw several Fireballs to ensure the warehouse was completely engulfed in flas.

"Uncle," Little Nan said, his bundle on his back, looking at Carl in disbelief. "You’re only taking this much?"

"It’s enough." Carl said, carrying his bundle as he stepped forward. "Let’s go."

With Jacqueline and others scouting ahead, the three of them had a smooth journey directly to the surface.

At this ti, the surface was in utter chaos.

The miners who had erged from underground were fighting with the City Guard, while many others chose to stand by and watch the commotion.

"Everyone!" Jacqueline yelled from a platform. "Don’t believe the City Guard. They say they will exchange materials for you, but in reality, they imprison you underground to dig tunnels!

"I am Jacqueline, a Whisperer of the Wind. My captain, my comrades, my... they were all killed because they discovered a Forgotten City underground!"

SWOOSH!

A flash of a blade descended.

"Get down from there!"

A City Guard soldier clad in heavy armor charged at Jacqueline, swinging his long sword in rapid succession.

Though not a Knight, this man was formidable, possessing the strength of a peak-level Knight’s Attendant.

These types were the elite of the City Guard.

"And !" Deng Pulu yelled, taking Jacqueline’s place as he leaped to the high ground. "I’m Deng Pulu of the Shadow Alliance. I’m sure so of you here know . I hunted aberrations, originally intending to exchange them for a Dharma Seal.

"But...

"They sent underground to dig tunnels and scout the paths!

"Think about it, have people suddenly disappeared recently? All of these acts are the doing of the City Guard!"

Whether it was Deng Pulu or Jacqueline, they were well-known figures in Dark City, and their words caused ripples among the crowd.

BANG!

A shelf in the distance trembled, and a figure leaped into view. "Daring to disturb public order, you’re seeking death!"

Mid-air, the newcor thrust out an arm, and a long Spear shot out like lightning, aid at Deng Pulu from afar.

A Knight! It was Water, captain of the City Guard’s Fifth Squad!

BANG!

Deng Pulu parried with his sword but couldn’t withstand the overwhelming force of the incoming Spear and was sent flying.
