"It’s just a junior mber of the Monroe family coming back for revenge. The Cape family wouldn’t have made it this far if they lacked even that bit of courage."
"They will co again."
"When that ti cos..."
"HEH HEH!"
The laughter gradually faded until it disappeared.
「...」
Three days later.
A weary Carl arrived at the Wizard Tower.
The reason it took so long was partially due to unfamiliar terrain, but mainly because he spent a considerable amount of ti hiding in Divine Domain Fragnts to avoid assassination.
Oma was still studying and practicing at the Wizard Tower. Upon hearing the news, she hurried over and brought him a cup of hot milk tea.
"I knew you’d be fine."
Patting her ample chest, she said with a smile, "Elder Marian told about your ordeal; it was so dangerous. Thankfully, you’re unhard."
"Yeah!" Carl sighed. "A narrow escape from death."
"Elder Marian isn’t in trouble, is she?"
He wasn’t too surprised by this. Considering she was a disciple of a Second Circle Wizard, she surely possessed powerful Inheritance Witch Artifacts. She might not be a match for an assassin, but surviving shouldn’t be an issue.
"She’s injured, and her complexion is very poor. She’s currently resting in the Wizard Tower’s quiet chamber." Oma’s eyes shifted as she spoke in a hushed tone, "I feel... Tutor Marian seems to care a lot about you."
The care she ntioned was definitely not of the ordinary kind; otherwise, there wouldn’t be any need to point it out.
"Uh..." Carl’s expression stiffened. "An illusion, perhaps?"
"Maybe." Oma touched her smooth chin and nodded. "The age difference between you two is quite significant, and it seems like Tutor Marian already has soone she fancies. I’m just talking nonsense."
With a wave of her hand, she stood up sowhat awkwardly.
"Elder Marian!"
"Elder!"
Carl also put down his cup and nodded to the newcor.
"You’re all right?"
Marian appeared delighted, quickly approaching and carefully examining Carl’s arms back and forth. She was like a worried wife inspecting her husband.
Oma wore a strange expression, and Carl looked embarrassed, but Marian seed to forget everything else in her excitent.
It took a mont for her to co back to her senses.
"Not bad." She nodded, her expression returning to calm. "To escape from the pursuit of the Shadow Hand assassins, it seems your strength is greater than I imagined. That’s great!"
"Shadow Hand?" Carl was taken aback. "Does the Magic Forest also have an organization called the Shadow Hand?"
In the Eastern Kingdom Continent as well, there was an assassin organization called the Shadow Hand; he had even experienced an attempted assassination by them.
"They do," Marian said. "The Shadow Hand has existed since Ancient Tis. They’re also on the Kaliem Continent, though not necessarily connected. You have to understand, assassin organizations often give themselves resounding nas to attract custors, much like a business principle."
Carl understood. This ant the Shadow Hand’s reputation was so vast that various assassin organizations used this na in different places. Nad Shadow Hand, yet behind the scenes, it might be several different organizations.
"Elder," he asked, "how’s the situation with the Cape family?"
Marian spoke coldly, "Two youngsters failed to return, Blaze suffered serious injuries, and his eyes are likely ruined for good. If he hadn’t been lucky, he probably wouldn’t have escaped either."
Millie is dead!
Carl’s expression shifted. He had quite a fond impression of this young woman from the Cape family, Sam’s aunt.
Unexpectedly... Not long ago they were still talking and laughing, she was helping him out with advice and answers, and suddenly she t with disaster. The Magic Forest is indeed dangerous!
"Now that you’re back, get so good rest." Marian’s eyes narrowed. "I’m going to get you a Silence Potion."
"This..." Carl hesitated. "Elder, after this event, the Cape family has suffered heavy losses. I’m afraid they won’t give out Potions anymore, right?"
"Why wouldn’t they give it?!" Marian exclaid angrily. "The assassins targeted them; instead, we were implicated and almost had an accident. Given the situation, just a Silence Potion isn’t enough. We must demand additional compensation! You rest first, don’t worry about anything else. I’ll handle this matter, and the result will definitely satisfy you."
"Yes." Carl bowed his head.
He didn’t expect the result to be very satisfying; just getting back his own Silence Potion would be enough.
Oma, standing behind Marian, secretly made a face at him, as if to say, ’See? I told you sothing’s off about Elder Marian’s attitude towards you. It’s very likely she has taken a liking to you.’
Carl shook his head slightly. Marian’s attitude was indeed sowhat unusual, but he didn’t perceive any so-called emotions from it. It felt more like... she was treating him as if he were soone else.
A substitute?
In any case, the feeling was quite weird and uncomfortable. Carl now only wanted to leave and have so peace and quiet.
Marian acted swiftly.
In just two days, Charlie found Carl with the Silence Potion.
But compared to the Silence Potion, another accompanying item was even more surprising.
"A Magic Crystal?"
It was a fist-sized crystal ball, with halos jumping inside, making one dizzy and nauseous upon close inspection.
"Yes!" Charlie nodded, his voice tinged with astonishnt. "This Magic Crystal contains a Star System witchcraft called Explosive Crystallization, valued at over a thousand Magic Stones!"
Magic Crystals are tools used by Wizards to pass on Inheritance Witchcraft. An Official Wizard can, using a special thod, seal their insights into witchcraft within the Magic Crystal. When soone shatters the Magic Crystal, they can gain these insights.
Of course, while knowledge can be transmitted, experience still requires practice, so obtaining a Magic Crystal does not an one can imdiately master the contained knowledge.
