Carl’s eyes flickered as he stepped closer. "A Basilisk?" he asked. "Is it the massive sea serpent that can petrify people?"
"Yes," Jacqueline confird. "Young Basilisks are five to ten ters long. This one is clearly mature. Legend says their bodies carry the Bloodline of ancient dragons. Upon reaching a certain evolutionary stage, they can grow wings and escape the confines of the Endless Sea."
Carl nodded slowly.
The Basilisk’s body was as hard as stone, its skin yellowish-brown. Closer inspection revealed it was covered in large, fish-like scales.
"This thing is terrifying!" Jacqueline said, a lingering fear in her voice. "Its eyes could emit rays that petrified tal; a single sweep of its gaze could kill an entire ship’s crew."
"Furthermore, a mist perated the air around its body; any living creature that drew near would slowly be petrified."
"Its hide was so tough it feared no blade. Even a Great Knight couldn’t withstand more than a few blows from it, and in a direct confrontation, not even a Legendary Knight was its match."
"Oh!" Carl exclaid in surprise. "That powerful? How did you manage to take it down?"
"Heh heh..." Jacqueline scratched her head and chuckled. "This creature had one fatal weakness: it feared mirrors. Mirrors could reflect the light from its eyes. If the opportunity was seized, even a crew of ordinary people could defeat it."
Was that even possible? Carl raised an eyebrow and reached out to gently touch the serpent’s body.

Instantly, intricate muscle patterns and skeletal structures flooded his perception, causing his breath to catch.

"It’s not cheap," Jacqueline smiled. "The eyes are 50,000 Divine Grace Coins each. The body is 2,000 Divine Grace Coins per ter, each section of bone is 1,000, each scale is 300, and the blood is 200 Divine Grace Coins per liter."
"If you buy the whole thing, I can offer a discount: 250,000 Divine Grace Coins!"
Two hundred and fifty thousand?! Carl’s voice was incredulous. "How much?"
"250,000 Divine Grace Coins!"
Carl sighed, slowly withdrawing his hand. Forget 250,000 Divine Grace Coins; even 25,000 would completely drain his savings.
