"Good," Carl said. "At least he’ll stop fussing now."

"Haha..." Hibell laughed. "Payne is a child; he’s definitely scared being away from his parents all of a sudden. I was the sa back then. I have so news for you: Thunder Spear Tucker didn’t gain the approval of the God of Blazing Fla. All his effort was in vain."

"Really?" Carl asked, looking surprised. "I thought he’d make it."

In his view, Thunder Spear Tucker’s strength was absolutely top-notch among Great Knights; breaking through to beco a Legendary should not have been hard. Unexpectedly, he had failed.

"How is that possible?" Hibell asked, her expression disdainful. "As long as there was enough benefit, he would even betray a god. How could the God of Blazing Fla bestow blessings on such a person?"

"Let’s rest!" Hibell said. She stood up. "We set out tomorrow for the Black Swamp."

「Night.」

The starlight was dim.

The Chad family had prepared a secluded manor especially for the two of them, to ensure they wouldn’t be disturbed. After traveling arduously for more than a month, even an iron man would have been exhausted. The soft bed was an excellent aid to sleep.

Even Carl didn’t use this opportunity to go to the Divine Domain Fragnt at Freedom Port. Instead, he lay in bed to relax his mind. Unknowingly, he fell into a deep sleep.

In the darkness, two figures appeared stealthily. They exchanged glances and nodded simultaneously, each choosing a room to silently pounce toward. Their movent technique was extrely agile, like nimble swallows.

At the sa ti, a faint halo enveloped their bodies, allowing them to ignore the detection thods of Witchcraft Traps.

SWISH!

’Fan’ landed gently in front of a room. He flicked his wrist, and a shimr of cold light flashed past, silently breaking the door latch. He repositioned his hands, pressing them against the door.

Trick—Silence!

Without Wizard Talent, it wasn’t necessarily impossible to cast spells; so simple tricks could be activated with life energy. The door was pushed open bit by bit, the expected sound of friction completely absent.

Success! ’Fan’s eyes brightened. Then, with a light tap of his foot, his body shifted inside the room, and he quickly approached the target on the bed.

The target was in a deep sleep.

Sleep, sleep. Going to the Netherworld to et the Death God in your dreams is a painless death.

TCH! I forgot, Wizards don’t have faith. In that case, you’re in for it. You’ll be nailed to the Wall of the Faithless and suffer endless tornt.

As ’Fan’ mused, a spike quietly appeared in his hand, and he aid it at the target’s throat.

SWISH!

The sound was reduced to its minimum. He had done this many tis, and up to this point, he had never failed with a target.

He could already envision the scene: the spike piercing skin and flesh, plunging into the throat, and blood gushing madly from the wound. The target wouldn’t die instantly. There would be a few convulsions before life completely faded. Sotis, they might even open their eyes before death, only to see him, their ’perpetrator.’ But their eyes would only hold fear and unwillingness, powerless to stop their life from slipping away.

What an exquisite scene. Praise the Death God!

SWISH!

A blur flashed before ’Fan’s eyes. The target on the bed suddenly vanished.

’Fan’ stiffened. Before he could react, his senses were completely overwheld by a ferocious murderous intent, and his vision filled with a roaring gale.

BOOM!

The tangible murderous intent slamd into his mind first.

Battle Skill—Divine Judgent!

Carl’s figure appeared above, his eyes filled with anger and lingering fear. He wielded his hands like a sword, slashing down ferociously.

That was close! If it hadn’t been for my spider sense emitting a warning, if my reaction had been just a fraction of a second slower... I would have been dead! Really dead!

"Die!"

The fury and fear coalesced into an all-out, unrestrained strike. The resulting shockwave of energy struck the assassin first.

BANG!

The imnse pressure imdiately forced the assassin to his knees, followed by a roaring torrent of energy surging through his limbs and body.

BOOM!

Carl slamd his palms down.

The terrifying force exploded instantly, blasting the assassin’s body into a bloody pulp. The entire house trembled violently from the impact.

"Who is it?"

"How dare you!"

A roar ca from the next room at that precise mont. Then, a violent torrent of water tore through the house, shattering the solid stone walls and exploding in the darkness. A faint moan of pain was audible.
