This feeling was very peculiar, as if another organ had grown on his body. Focusing on it, he could distinctly perceive changes in the surrounding temperature and airflow. The nearly imperceptible quivering of the fine hairs on his skin’s surface, interacting with the air, analyzed various ssages. The temperature was slightly higher on the left side because of the oil lamp. Dust drifted down from above, about to settle on his hair. A few tiny insects flew past the carriage window, their wing vibrations causing changes in the air currents.
"This is truly magical!" This sensation, so different from that of a ’human,’ made Carl exclaim in amazent. He initially felt sowhat uncomfortable.
No wonder Bloodline Wizards have a famous saying: ’The secrets hidden in life are no less vast than the starry sky.’
It speaks true!
If one has enough ’materials,’ then the path of a Bloodline Wizard is undoubtedly a shortcut.
Ordinary Wizards must advance from scratch, facing nurous difficulties. Bloodline Wizards, on the other hand, can enhance themselves by leveraging the traits of higher life forms. This is clearly more convenient, though without resources, this path is impossible to even begin.
It has its pros and cons!
This was different from a Dharma Seal. Losing a Dharma Seal also ant losing the special abilities it provided. The transplants of a Bloodline Wizard were different. Once a transplanted organ adapted over a certain period, the host would naturally gain special abilities. Even if the organ were removed later, so abilities would remain, although they would be far less potent than when the organ was present. Carl still didn’t understand the underlying principle of this adaptation and evolution, which harbored the deep secrets of Bloodlines. But the successful transplantation indicated that he had crossed the threshold onto the path of a Bloodline Wizard.
Collecting his thoughts, he rolled up his sleeves, pulled a small desk closer, took up a quill, and, head bowed, began to write.
’Dear Jenny, my friend, and forr roommate, when you receive this letter, I believe the news of Sigerno City’s fall has already reached the Royal City.’
’That night, the black-armored forces of the Kolong people stord into the city, creating chaos. By the ti I went to find your mother, Mary, she had already left her residence. It was too difficult to find anyone in such conditions.’
’I hope she is safe.’
Pausing, Carl lifted his head. After so thought, he continued writing, "If you have any news of her, please write back and inform . I will leave a contact in Mutan City. Also, I wonder how your music theory studies are going in the Royal City..."
They were about to reach Mutan City, where ssengers to the Royal City could be found. He finally had ti to write the promised letter to Jenny.
TAP. TAP.
A knock sounded at the door.
"Master Carl." Old Harry’s voice ca through. "We’ve arrived at Mutan City."
"Oh!" Carl stopped what he was doing, lifted the carriage curtain, and looked ahead.
On the flat land, a low, gray city appeared at the horizon, resembling a crouching beast.
Mutan City was not large, not even a third the size of Sigerno City. But due to its geographical location, surrounded by fertile land suitable for cultivation, it prospered.
"The Old Master was an only child, without brothers or sisters," Old Harry explained. "He also didn’t have children of his own, as he had dedicated himself to witchcraft from a young age."
"However, the Master had an uncle. This uncle had children—the Master’s male cousin and female cousin—but their relationship with the Master was distant."
"The last ti I accompanied the Master to Mutan City was eight years ago. Since then, we’ve had little contact," he continued. "But they are kin, after all. So, the Master left them a Crystal Ball to test for Wizard Talent. He instructed that if anyone with talent was found, they should send word, and he would provide knowledge about wizardry. This ti, a grandson of the Master’s male cousin was found to possess Wizard Talent."
Carl nodded. It seems the Tutor’s ancestral Bloodline has produced Official Wizards. Otherwise, the chance of two individuals with talent appearing in rely a few generations would be too low.
Typically, a family would need to span many generations before an individual with Wizard Talent might appear. The chance of two people with Wizard Talent appearing within just a few generations was negligible. But there were exceptions. If one was an Official Wizard, their offspring would have a high probability of inheriting Wizard Talent. If two Official Wizards had children together, the probability of their offspring having Wizard Talent could even exceed fifty percent. However, further down the generations, this inherited probability would decrease, though it would still be significantly higher than that of an ordinary person. This also fell within the scope of a Bloodline Wizard’s knowledge.
"Yes." Old Harry smiled. "The Master only managed to beco an Advanced Wizard Apprentice because he found an inheritance left by his ancestors. He might even beco an Official Wizard!"
Adolph had been an Advanced Wizard Apprentice for a very long ti. As a Pharmacist, he had also accumulated a considerable number of Magic Stones. If he could purchase the Potions needed for a breakthrough, he would attempt it. Everyone knew this.
An Official Wizard! Carl felt a surge of invigoration. If his Tutor beca an Official Wizard, then his own path of cultivation would also beco much smoother. The principle of ’one person’s success bringing prosperity to their entire family’ applied in this world as well.
As their convoy neared the city gate, a group of people erged from a nearby stone pavilion and walked over to greet them.
"Relatives from Sigerno City, the Chad family welcos your arrival." The elder at the front, likely in his seventies and dressed in fine attire, bowed and said, "I wish my cousin good health."
His face was deeply wrinkled and his hair sparse, clear signs of advanced age, yet his voice remained loud and full of vigor.
"Lord Riley," Old Harry dismounted. "We et again. I will certainly convey your blessings to the Master."
"Harry!" The elder, Riley, looked up, his face alight with ecstatic joy. He spread his arms, embraced Old Harry, and laughed heartily.
