She wanted a beef patty in her burger tonight.

However, the sundae must be strawberry-flavored; no adjustnts needed.

Though she wanted to take Ethan to take a tour of the Origin Society, the society has never welcod outsiders, especially soone like Ethan, who has no legal status in the Holy City, seemingly a refugee from the Edge World.

The "lustful monkeys" didn't quiet down because of Lindong's departure; instead, they beca more aggressive, openly engaging with Ethan.

As family mbers, they all knew about the Edge World situation. From their perspective, before their frontal lobes were removed, describing it as hell wasn't an exaggeration. Residents there struggle even to be called human. Their lives are brief, with the sole purpose of being resources or war materials for the Holy City.

Thus, they were confident in dealing with soone like Ethan, a naive Edge World resident.

In just half a day, Ethan received more than a hundred job offers, most of which ca directly from "Boss Direct Hiring," with enviable working hours and pay. He would also gain a respectable legal status. Ethan had to admit that these family mbers were proficient at painting a rosy picture.

They tried their best to extract information from him about Lindong, curious about their encounter.

This ti, even Ethan, known for his kindness, felt annoyed by the incessant inquiries until a commanding voice interrupted the chatter. When the future heirs of the family looked toward the speaker in surprise and anger, the latter's attire instantly silenced them.

The figures were shrouded in black composite armor, gripping riot tasers in one hand and shields in the other, forming an impenetrable wall blocking the hallway. Their faces were hidden by helts made of the sa polyr material, with three thick cable interfaces extending from the back of their necks, a blue glow flickering under dark insulation, hinting at data transmission.

Their attire indicated the identity of the newcors—the legal departnt.

Even the future heirs of the families wouldn't want to confront these tal figures, as the legal departnt is the blade of the High-tier Council, and their presence to so extent represents the council's will, or in simpler terms, it likely stems from an elder's command.

They were rely potential competitors within the family, while those elders were the victors of the previous generation.

"Mr. Ethan, this is a subpoena from the legal departnt. Please co with us."

The attitude of the Commander of the Arbiter squad was polite but carried an undeniable force.

Ethan readily accepted the legal departnt's invitation, at least these black tal figures seed tough and quiet, unlike the lustful monkeys who incessantly questioned him about Lindong.

His attitude left the Commander stunned for quite a while.

They all knew this would be a tough task, deliberately waiting for the First Lady to leave before taking action. They had expected fierce resistance from Ethan, that he would bring up the First Lady to refuse cooperation with the legal departnt's investigation. If those family mbers further complicated matters, the situation would have been quite unfavorable for them.

Yet to their surprise, Ethan, the "illegal immigrant," acted like a law-abiding citizen, even walking lightly ahead of them.

Half an hour after the legal departnt took Ethan, a new storm engulfed the High-tier Council.

"Who gave the order to the legal departnt!"

The council speaker was almost furious when she heard about Ethan being taken by the legal departnt.

She had first spied on the secrets of the First Lady, and now the First Lady's accompanying chef had been taken by the legal departnt right after her departure. Worse still, the First Lady's little secret was widespread throughout the First Special District. But heaven's sake, these things absolutely didn't leak from her!

For the Holy City's peace and stability, Rowena's ntioned secret was not significant. Yet, when these matters combined, they were enough to incite the First Lady's murderous intent towards her.

The Speaker even doubted this was aid at the First Lady; it seed more like soone intended to use the First Lady's hand to eliminate her!

But... Who would do such a thing?

The Speaker angrily glared at the hastily assembled High-tier Council. When this thought erged in her mind, she felt everyone could be the mastermind; present, everyone had reasons to eliminate her, with almost no one among them trustworthy.

Even the family was no exception!

So believed she had stayed as the Patriarch for too long and should pass the power down to soone else.

The High-tier council mbers looked at each other, yet no one answered her. Their eyes were seemingly innocent, but the Speaker didn't trust them; playing dumb was almost every politician's signature skill.

"Don't think you can benefit from this!"

The Speaker admonished sharply, "If I discover anyone stabbing in the back—!"

"Speaker!"

An untily knock interrupted the Speaker's wrath, with her worried secretary bringing another bad news.

"I contacted the legal departnt, but they can't release Mr. Ethan."

"What?"

The Speaker once thought she had misheard.

How could the legal departnt not release Mr. Ethan?

This was a direct order from the Speaker, while the legal departnt was just a pack of hounds kept by the High-tier Council!

"The legal departnt said..."

The secretary was trembling, seemingly hesitant to speak.

"What did they say!"

"They claid to have received orders from a higher level."

Higher level?

The Speaker was about to sneer, curious about what level of orders could be more influential than her position as Speaker of the High-tier Council. But this thought lingered in her mind for less than a second before a sense of unease hit her, prompting her eyes to instinctively gaze out the window.

She glimpsed at the gray sky.

Beyond the cloud-covered sky, a pair of eyes watched the city at all tis.

It knows everything happening in the city, and just now, the master of this civilization issued an order to the legal departnt—It wanted to personally et this illegal immigrant from the Edge World!

This has long been beyond her control; she's like a small boat amidst the storm, where the First Lady or the Master of Saints could bring about waves enough to personally destroy her utterly.

At this mont, Ethan was led by the legal departnt's Arbiter squad to an independent interrogation room, awaiting him was a bald-headed figure as dark as his armor. This bald-headed figure, in thick tal armor, nearly three ters tall, stood by the interrogation room's window with his back to the door.

He overlooked the street scene of the First Special District from that towering, hundred-floor skyscraper.

"Flynn Seine."

After the Arbiter squad departed, the bald-headed figure skipped the introduction, diving straight to the point, announcing a na.

"I want to know your purpose for this."

Ethan sensed sothing different within that human body, appearing human, yet seeming so invisible force attached to him, making him feel as if he wasn't conversing with the investigator himself.

Compared to his illegal identity and the encounter with the First Lady, the black bald figure appeared more interested in the individual previously given a doctor's death sentence.

"I rely offered hope for soone to live on."

Ethan referred to his conversation with the Ice Elent in the bar, albeit without scientific basis, potentially serving as a motivation for soone to survive.

"As long as you're alive, good things will happen, who knows?"

"It seems you wish to help him."

The black bald head tried to grasp Ethan's words, though appearing puzzled, "Yet, you gave him the heaviest thing."

"You an hope?"

Ethan also felt a bit confused.

The black bald head silently mouthed the word, seemingly muttering to himself, "There's nothing heavier in the world than this."
