"So of the honey bite steak, please! Oh, I want that soy sauce minced chicken too. Calix, put so mango chicken on the sa plate as the minced one."
"Oh~ That pesto pasta looks delicious! Calix, please take the shrimp scampi too. Hurm... the lasagna is tempting too."
Calix’s lips twitched. Keeping a smile on his face, he wanted to glare at Leslie but, was unable to do so. If he did that, the staff around would see him frowning into the air.
From the beginning, Calix took every single dish himself. He simply followed what Leslie requested while replying to the staff’s greetings from ti to ti.
"CEO Xu, do you need more plates and bowls?" asked one of the cafeteria staff.
The young man pushed the three-tiered food cart next to Calix. Two tiers had been occupied with different dishes in small plates and bowls.
What was happening right now hadn’t occurred before. This was the first ti CEO Xu requested for a food cart to bring the dishes of his choice to the private dining room.
Since when did their CEO Xu eat so much?
People said he took care of his comatose wife himself when he was at ho. Did he have no ti to eat like usual because of that?
Without a doubt, this kind of speculation started running rampant among the gossipy staff.
"It’s okay. These are enough," said Calix with a forced smile. He scooped so of the pesto pasta and shrimp scampi into two small plates. He didn’t forget the lasagna too.
Realizing Calix and the cafeteria staff’s conversation, Leslie laughed awkwardly. She pretended not to see when CEO Xu sent a subtle glare at her.
"Hehe, enough, enough. Ti to eat!" declared Leslie.
"..."
After getting so drinks, Calix and Leslie returned to the dining room. He wheeled the food cart himself, thanking the cafeteria staff for his service. A few pairs of eyes followed his movent.
Once Calix closed the door, he openly scowled at Leslie.
"I know you want to eat everything but, I didn’t expect you’ll make a three-tiered food cart full!"
Calix’s nagging made Leslie laugh out loud. She curled in the air, pressing her tummy. Her lodic laughter bounced off the walls, only could be heard by him.
"Co down. Don’t float ah," Calix frowned. Lifting one hand, he tugged at Leslie’s shirt, signaling her to step on the floor, "We have so much food now. Ti to eat."
"Hehe, okay."
Landing on the floor, Leslie followed Calix who pushed the cart to the dining table. They served the plates, bowls and glasses on the surface before sitting facing one another.
"Tsk, tsk, can you finish all this?" Calix clicked his tongue, wondering if Leslie’s stomach was a black hole.
"I can," answered Leslie confidently. Grinning, she grabbed the spoon, wanting to taste the wonton soup first, "CEO Xu, eat with . Don’t worry. You won’t lose your six-pack by eating all this."
"..."
Leslie’s words led Calix to unconsciously put his palm on his abdon. There were no signs of flabbiness due to his constant workout.
"Yeah, yeah, I’ll eat," Calix grabbed a plate of pasta. He kept telling Leslie, "Munch and swallow your food properly. Don’t get yourself choked."
"Aye aye, sir!"
A jovial Leslie enjoyed the variety of cuisines served on the table. Occasionally, she did a little happy dance, her glee was clearly expressed in her countenance.
Calix smiled in helplessness. He didn’t want to say out loud that he was actually relieved to see Leslie being happy again.
Sigh... It seed like food was the answer if she was in a bad mood.
Wasn’t this just the sa as the morning he told her about the caretakers? Her dampened mood was sweetened by the pastries[1] he bought in advance for her.
Leslie was unaware of Calix’s train of thought. She was too imrsed in savoring the delicious food served by the cafeteria.
"Hehe, I’ve always wanted to dine alone at a buffet and try all the food there. But, couldn’t bring myself to it."
Leslie recalled a mory of her past. She was always frugal with her money but, sotis she treated herself to good food.
"Why?" Calix looked up from his plate, "Are you afraid of people disturbing you?"
"Yeah, sothing like that," Leslie shrugged, chuckling, "Between a man and a woman dining alone, the latter is the most likely to be bothered. Most places with good private dining rooms are expensive."
Calix paused, thinking for a mont before agreeing with Leslie’s sentint. It was actually a fact. He heard his fellow school and college female friends ntion such a thing before.
Dining alone was just an example.
"Don’t worry. You’re rich enough to go to any restaurant or cafe with good private dining rooms now. You can even rent the whole eatery. I’ll give you a card once you wake up soon."
Leslie blinked, amazed by Calix’s unyielding confidence. She burst into laughter, amused by the swoon-worthy dialogues she usually read or heard in romance stories.
"Hahaha! CEO Xu, is it the fad black card? The one with unlimited balance?"
Leslie first learned about it from the romance stories. She also knew so millionaire celebrities in her country possessed the most coveted credit card.
If she ever got hold of the famous black card... she would spend it on food, food and food!
"Of course. Who do you think your husband is?" Calix replied smugly. Raising one brow, he told Leslie, "Mrs. Xu, no matter how much you spend, you won’t ever bankrupt ."
Leslie widened her eyes before once again laughter bubbled up her mouth. She quickly covered her mouth, her cheeks tinted in the pink color.
Haaa! It was cringy yet sounded so good!
Who didn’t want a card with unlimited spending? They didn’t have to worry about paying bills, buying groceries and impulsive shopping ever again.
"Don’t break your promise, okay? I’ll swipe your card all I want."
Calix smirked. No trace of hesitation flickered in his eyes.
"I’ll wait for the day I receive notifications about your spending, Mrs. Xu."
"Well, I need to wake up from my coma first, CEO Xu," Leslie took a bite of the lasagna. She resud after swallowing, "Sigh... this sounds like a dream ah."
"Only it’s not even a dream," replied Calix leisurely.
Leslie giggled, unable to stop imagining the scenes involving the black card. She simply recalled them from the dramas and novels she had watched and read.
