One man and one woman, standing inside a train, smiling at each other.
Charlene’s heart skipped a beat. She could easily tell this drawing alluded to their first eting around four years ago.
Stepping closer, Charlene raised her right hand, her fingers lightly tracing the lines of the drawing. Her heart swelled at the sight of it, a mory so dear to her brought to life by Kallix’s artistic skill.
"Kallix? Honey?"
Charlene called again, her voice softer and filled with wonder. Still, there was no response from the man.
Charlene believed that Kallix was already inside but, purposely hiding from her. He most likely arrived when she was busy at the office.
An anticipation stirred in Charlene’s heart, thinking that Kallix prepared this surprise with a more aningful idea in mind.
Tearing her eyes away from the canvas, Charlene glanced to her right. She saw another easel stand, propping up in the middle of the living room.
Charlene approached the easel, her smile curling with more sweetness. Another mory ca to mind.
The second canvas showed a drawing of them chatting at the cafe, their faces lit with laughter and joy. The soft color palette used by Kallix captured the pleasant ti well.
Charlene moved forward, discovering yet another easel stand. The canvas depicted them hiking up a sunlit trail, Kallix offering her a hand as they climbed together.
Next to the easel stand, Charlene saw one of their mory at an art exhibition. The drawing showed them smiling at the painting before them, seemingly admiring it.
Each canvas told a story, a vivid mory of their ti together.
Charlene slowly walked from one canvas to the next, leading to the hallway of their bedroom. Even though she couldn’t wait to et Kallix, she wished to admire his hard work first.
On one, Charlene saw the two of them were drawn playing by the waves at the beach, the wind tousling their hair as they laughed. She was quickly reminded of their trip to the beach last sumr.
"Hehe," Charlene chuckled, helplessness imbuing in her voice, "He should draw the mont when he ran away from a crab."
Charlene continued her journey of admiring the canvases. She saw more of them before eventually she reached the last one.
"...this one’s covered."
The easel stand was adorned by flower garlands, standing at the end of the hallway. A red satin fabric shielded the canvas from being seen, the bold color seemingly invited her to reveal the last drawing.
Charlene’s pulse quickened. Clenching one hand, she forced herself to relax before slowly reaching for the fabric. The cloth was soft to the touch.
Slowly, ever so slowly, she pulled the satin fabric, letting it drop to the floor.
"...?!"
Charlene’s breath hitched once she saw the last drawing, a mont that hadn’t happened to her and Kallix before. Her heart raced quicker as she took in the scene.
A man kneeled before a woman, holding a small box of a ring in his hand.
Charlene’s lips parted in disbelief as realization dawned. Tears welled up in her eyes as she continued staring at the drawing.
"Is this..."
"Charlene."
Charlene paused once she heard the familiar voice of her beloved coming from behind. Spinning on her heels, she ca face to face with the man who had just co out of hiding.
"...Kallix."
Kallix, dressed in a crisp shirt and long pants, smiling so tenderly at her; the man she was in love with. His brown eyes held hers as she slowly kneeled to the floor, holding a small velvet box in his hand.
"Honey, are you..."
Once again Charlene trailed off, unable to find better words. Her eyes darted from Kallix to the box, her heart only beating faster the more ti passed by.
"My love, Charlene," Kallix began, his voice tingeing with emotions, mirroring in his eyes, "I have so many things to say to you but... no words can describe my feelings better."
Charlene covered her mouth, more tears welling in her eyes. She knew by heart what Kallix wished to ask her.
Kallix’s lips trembled but, he forced himself to speak. Locking Charlene’s eyes in his, he asked, his slightly shaky voice carrying along his earnest wish.
"Charlene, you walked into my life, bringing more vibrant colors than I’ve ever seen. Our first eting might be a fleeting mont but, it led you to ."
Kallix paused, taking so ti to calm his nerves. Smiling, he continued, his words echoing in the hallway, reaching Charlene.
"You’ve made my world brighter, more beautiful than I ever thought it could be. Every mont we’re together, every mory we’ve created, I treasured them all."
Kallix opened the velvet box. A ring nestled in the middle, its gemstone sparkling under the lights.
"My love, will you marry ? For better and for worse, I’ll remain by your side as long as I breathe. I want to spend forever loving and being with you."
Overwheld by the spilling of her emotions, tears streaming down Charlene’s face. She could barely speak but, her answer was clear as she nodded repeatedly.
Charlene lowered her hands from her face, reaching for Kallix’s.
"Y-yes," Charlene managed to blurt, her voice breaking with emotion, "Yes, Kallix, I’ll marry you. I do, I do want to marry you."
Kallix smiled, his look beaming from pure joy. His fingers trembled slightly as he took the ring. He carefully slipped the platinum band onto Charlene’s ring finger.
Standing up, Kallix pulled Charlene into his arms. She began sobbing softly against his chest, her palms grasping the backside of his shirt.
"Thank you... thank you so much, Kallix," Charlene murmured, her voice muffled, thickened by her emotions, "You surely took so much ti to prepare all this."
Charlene could only guess that Kallix started drawing for the canvases months before this mont. Most likely, he did it back in his studio.
"It wasn’t easy," Kallix admitted with a chuckle, gently stroking Charlene’s back, "But, you’re worth every second of it, my love."
Charlene pulled back, just enough to look up at Kallix. Her tear-streaked face glowed with happiness.
"I can’t believe you did all this. It’s like sothing out of a dream."
Charlene knew that Kallix was romantic at heart but, she didn’t expect such a heartwarming proposal.
Kallix leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Charlene’s forehead. He murmured, "It’s not a dream, Charlene. It’s just the beginning of our forever."
More chuckles slipped out of Charlene’s lips. Standing on her tip-toe, she held the collar of Kallix’s shirt, whispering ever softly, "Yes. For our forever."
Dipping his head in, Kallix pulled Charlene closer. He smiled as she encircled her arms around his neck, letting their lips et.
Outside, the snow slowly fell from the sky, blanketing the city with a shimring white glow.
Each flake danced gracefully in the cold winter air, settling gently on the streets and rooftops. The quiet hush of the snowfall created a magical mont as the lovebirds relished in the mont.
