Leslie shook her head as she recalled how blatantly Calix acted against Old Madam Li. He didn’t mask his words at all, implying the Li family’s eldest granddaughter was in despair because her maiden family treated her badly.

’This guy is really sothing. I never thought he’d acted like that during their first eting.’

Leslie quietly watched Calix enjoying his al at the dining table. He ate happily while conversing with Rowan as if he was not the person enraging Old Madam Li earlier.

After Calix caused the eerie silence inside the drawing room, Geoffrey quickly cald the tension by saying dinner was ready. All of them, including the infuriated Old Madam Li moved to the dining room.

The Li family’s matriarch’s complexion was awful. It was obvious how hard she tried not to lash out.

Under her smiling facade, Old Madam Li was actually throwing daggers at Calix for disrespecting her. Even though he disliked her, she was still his grandmother-in-law.

How could he blatantly disrespect his elder?!

As for Geoffrey and his family, they didn’t dare to utter anything after being embarrassed several tis. Even though Calix kept smiling, they understood that the CEO Xu detested them.

Yet, from ti to ti, Gladys threw a subtle yet woeful look at Calix but, the young man didn’t pay attention to her at all. Only Leslie watched how interestingly pitiful that woman seed to be.

Sigh... She really should look for n who liked her instead of aiming for a married man.

Leslie didn’t want to linger here any longer, thinking that she had more important things to do.

Stepping away from the dining room wall, Leslie approached Calix. He was still talking to Rowan. She gently tapped on the space next to his rice bowl.

"Calix, I’ll wander for a bit."

Calix didn’t look at Leslie but, he clearly heard her. He simply tapped the end of his chopsticks twice on the bowl rim. The subtle response brought a smile to her lips.

"I’ll head to my bedroom," said Leslie before finally leaving the dining room. Her voice reached Calix.

Leslie took a pause once she passed through the closed doors of the dining room. Throwing her gaze around, she silently scoured the mories she had about this ancestral ho.

"Her room should be the best place to start," murmured Leslie under her breath, recalling Charlene’s bedroom, "Yes, I should go there."

Turning to her right, Leslie floated in the air as she headed in the direction. As she hovered through the hallways, she was inadvertently reminded of the mories coming to her mind.

The Li family’s ancestral ho was a courtyard house like the Xu family’s. Aside from high-prized ink paintings and calligraphies hung on the wall, so family photos of the current generations decorated the place too.

But...

Leslie mostly spotted family photos of Old Madam Li, her deceased husband and Geoffrey’s family. Only a few fras showed Charlene’s family.

"I’ll never understand how can people be so biased toward their own children," Leslie muttered out of frustration, "What makes that old woman dislike her eldest son so much?"

Leslie used to hear that so parents developed such a deep hatred toward their offspring due to petty reasons. In her situation, she was born a daughter when her family yearned for a son.

Her frown deepened, Leslie shook her head in helplessness. Ignoring everything else, she continued her way to reach the bedroom.

Rowan and his family lived on the east side of the huge house. Even though they had a private yard, the place was smaller with older structures.

Old Madam Li and Geoffrey’s family resided in the best one in the middle of the building. They also had better facilities.

"This is it..."

Leslie stared at the door of the bedroom. Perhaps influenced by Charlene’s sad mories, she didn’t feel good coming here.

Charlene spent most of her ti inside the bedroom. She didn’t have a single friend due to Gladys’ constant interference. The latter always spread bad rumors about her, leading people to outcast Charlene.

No matter in elentary, middle or high school. Everything was the sa.

The bedroom was not the only sanctuary for Charlene. She always spent ti in the kitchen, the place where she poured her passion into pursuing her hobbies.

Cooking and baking. Those were Charlene’s fields of interest.

The east side of the house had its own kitchen. Charlene was able to stay there alone for hours without anyone disturbing her. The main kitchen was located elsewhere.

"Sohow, we share the sa hobby," Leslie smiled faintly, recalling her previous life.

Perhaps, it would be easier for her to transition to Charlene. Sharing a few similar traits would help in the process.

Shrugging, Leslie finally passed through the door of the bedroom. The place was terribly quiet. Her sight was blocked by the darkness.

"I shouldn’t switch on the lights, en?"

Leslie was conflicted. She didn’t want to alert anyone to her movent but, she couldn’t see well in the dark.

Through the mories, Charlene seed to chronicle her life by writing diaries. She kept all of them inside a built-in floor storage underneath the bed. No one knew about it.

"I wonder if there’s anything important written inside."

Even though Leslie received Charlene’s mories now, most of them lying dormant in her mind. They needed so kind of trigger to get Leslie to recall sothing specific.

In the end, Leslie tried getting Mimo’s help.

’Mimo, can you light up a certain place for ? Do you have the ability? I don’t want people coming here if I switch on the lights.’

Unfortunately, Leslie was bound to be disappointed.

|Sorry, Leslie. I don’t have such a skill ah.|

"..."

Why couldn’t Mimo be like the systems she read in romance novels?

Sigh, forget it.

Leslie approached the windows. She slowly pulled the curtains open, allowing the moonlight to spread its glow inside the dark bedroom.

"Now, let’s check the shelves."

The moonlight helped Leslie to see things more clearly. She floated to the dressing table placed next to the queen-sized bed. Two bookshelves were put on the other sides of the table.

Leslie smiled in relief once she found what she was looking for. She grabbed the small light decoration from one of the shelves. It was in the shape of a bunny.

Once Leslie clicked on the tiny button, a warm orange glow lit up the bunny lamp.

"Hehe, cute."

This was better than having no source of light at all. Leslie crawled under the bed, bringing the lamp along with her. She quickly spotted where the storage was.

If no one checked properly, the space underneath the floor would be hard to notice. It was disguised as if it was the sa as the rest of the flooring.

"Found them!"

Leslie giddily exclaid once she opened the lid. Her eyes landed on the stack of diaries placed inside the storage.

"I should get the recent ones..."

Leslie reached out for the diaries. She scanned through the years written on the corners of the front pages.

But...

Creak.

"...?!"

Wide-eyed in surprise, Leslie quickly peeked from the edge of the bed. A pair of feet could be seen from the door.
