The night view of the Swiss Alps outside was majestic but, its glory didn’t catch Calix’s attention. His heart and mind were entirely focused on the videos and photos he woke up to hours ago.
The ticking clock displayed a quarter to midnight. Calix and his entourage had just completed their schedule for today. They needed to go out early the next morning as well.
"Hehe, cute."
Sitting in the backseat of a limousine, Calix replayed the videos before looking at the photos again and again. The surprise delivered by Leslie through the ssaging app brightened his mood for the entire day.
Calix was not alone inside the vehicle. He simply paid his subordinates no attention as he chuckled and smiled by himself. His eyes never strayed far from the phone screen.
The exhausted subordinates had already witnessed their boss smiling like a fool every ti he looked at his wife and daughter’s videos and photos. He also bragged about them continuously whenever he could today.
It was already surprising that their boss got married suddenly.
Since when did he and his wife have a daughter together?
Was there any secrets behind this?
Despite wanting to get the answers, none of them dared to ask Calix anything about Leslie and Calliope. They would just wait until they arrived back in the country before targeting Edward with their inquiries.
"See you tomorrow, Boss Xu."
"Good night, everyone."
Calix and his entourage parted ways once they reached one of the highest floors of the almost two-century-old luxury hotel. Its regal architecture stood against the ti.
Calix headed to his lakeside corner suite while the rest scattered to their own rooms. Lifting his hand, he glanced at the wristwatch.
Leslie might be awake already as the ti back ho would be six in the morning soon. As for Calliope, Calix was unsure. The little dumpling might still be sleeping.
’I wanna call her but... I better text her first.’
Calix strode inside the well-lit opulent suite. The warm-hued lights from the small chandeliers showered on his fra. Fishing the phone out of his jacket pocket, he headed to the balcony.
Gazing out at the midnight landscape of the alpine country, Calix took in its ethereal beauty. The moon softly outpoured its light to the surroundings, beaming through the lake below.
Calix could faintly see the snow-capped peaks of the distant Alps. He rembered how magnificent the view was during dayti yet, the view at night held its own magic.
’She’ll surely love this place.’
The breathtaking scenery only reminded Calix more of Leslie back ho. He understood how well she appreciated the beauty of nature.
’Haa... Why do I see her face on the moon ah? I miss her so much.’
Laughing to himself, Calix resorted to taking a few photos of the nightti scenery. He almost pressed the Send button before suddenly a thought crossed his mind.
’Wait... Should I do this?’
Calix lowered his chin, looking at his well-dressed torso. Narrowing his eyes, he tossed the phone to the wrought-iron table. There was sothing he wanted to do before he video-called Leslie.
Sliding the jacket off his shoulders, Calix loosened the tie. He dropped both to the chair nearby before unfastening the buttons of his dress shirt.
One... Two... Until the third one. He believed the cara would perfectly capture the upper part of his body.
The cool night breeze hit the exposed part of Calix’s chest. The long and jagged scar were clear under the balcony lights.
Ruffling his hair, Calix let his bangs be ssy. He opted for a devilish look instead of a prim and proper gentleman. A chuckle escaped his lips as he realized what he was doing.
Well... consider it as his seduction attempt ah.
Calix finally sent the photos to Leslie, followed by two texts.
[Calix: Just reached the hotel. Aren’t these beautiful? They remind of you💕]
[Calix: Are you up already? Can I call you? How about a video call?]
Ring! Ring!
Calix’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise once he received a video call from Leslie. He had just sent those ssages in less than two minutes.
It seed like the fool in love was in luck. His sweet wife had already woken up from her slumber.
Leslie’s face was displayed on the screen once the call was connected. Smiling, Calix waved at her after adjusting the angle of the phone cara. His heart leaped seeing the familiar view of his bedroom.
Oho, his sweetheart slept in his room ah. But, she hadn’t switched on the main lights. Only the underbed lights illuminated her face.
"When did you wake up?" Calix chuckled at the sight of Leslie’s sleepy face, "Just now? Good morning, my sweetheart."
Leslie’s blushing smile was captured properly by the cara. She ran one of her hands through her ssy hair, trying to smoothen her locks.
"A few minutes before you texted ," replied Leslie softly. She directed the cara, pointing in a direction, "Poppy is with . She’s still sleeping. Let move sowhere else."
Calix saw Calliope sleeping while hugging the crochet strawberry. The little dumpling kicked her blanket as always, revealing a tricky sleeping position.
"Aiya. If I was there, I’d wrap her into a sushi roll."
"Hehe, be prepared to see her sulking with you."
Leslie turned the phone, showing her face once more instead of the sleeping Calliope.
"Aren’t you at your hotel balcony? Hehe, I’ll get so morning air then."
"Be careful. Don’t walk too quickly."
"Hehe, don’t nag at ah. I have a cane."
Calix felt as if honey dripped from his heart, spreading the sweetness to his entire body. His eyes didn’t stray away from Leslie’s face as she headed to his bedroom’s balcony.
Instead of seeing a beautiful moon hovering in the night sky, she saw the stunning skyline at dawn.
"The sun’s rising," Leslie smiled softly, glancing at the sky before looking at Calix on the screen, "Well, I have sothing to ask first, honey."
"En? What is it?"
Calix raised his brows, noticing the playful smile on Leslie’s lips.
"Aren’t you cold? Did you unbutton your shirt to let see your chest?"
"..."
This wasn’t the response he anticipated!
