"Hehe..."
Leslie’s chuckle earned attention from Calix as he turned to look at her.
"En? What makes you laugh? Thinking of Calliope?"
"Hehe, yes..."
Calix and Leslie were chilling in the lounge of the villa after having a simple dinner together. The clock pointed to a quarter past eight. Despite still being early, they planned to head to bed soon.
The husband and wife returned to the villa slightly before five. None of them believed so many hours had passed from the first one they arrived at the orphanage.
Under Director Li’s suggestion, Leslie and Calix ca back to the villa alone instead of bringing Calliope together with them. They would visit the orphanage again tomorrow.
"She’s so funny ah, reminds of Mia," Calix shook his head, his laughter imbuing with helplessness, "I don’t wanna think how much chaos they’ll cause once they beco closer."
Calliope was one year older than Alia. Their personalities were almost the sa, very outgoing. They wouldn’t take much ti to warm up to each other.
Adding Evelyn to the mix, the trio would surely cause chaos everywhere they went to.
Amused by how truthful Calix’s prediction was, Leslie laughed louder. She tried stopping from giggling too much but, her attempts only failed so far. She was too happy to hold back.
"Hehehe... I’m still thinking of that ti... when you explained about your family... to her..."
Placing one hand over her mouth, Leslie’s mind replayed the scene of Calix telling Calliope about his family and how her life would be next. The little one eagerly listened to him before coming up with funny questions.
"Ohhhh! Papa is like the president? Like in the drama?"
"Wow~ Poppy will be rich? Poppy can buy many many many candies?"
"Papa, Papa’s office near the sky? Sooo high?"
Leslie’s laughter continued echoing inside the lounge, filling Calix with helplessness. Her words had also reminded him of that particular mont.
"Well, let’s wait until she steps foot at our ho," Calix shrugged, leaning against the backrest while crossing his legs together, "I’m sure she’ll ask if it’s a palace or sothing."
"Hahaha! Yeah... that will happen ah..."
After telling Calliope so information about the Xu family, Calix and Leslie switched to discussing her leaving the orphanage. Taking the little one along with them, they headed to et Director Li once again.
Mrs. Diana Fu would fly to Frostwich Town tomorrow morning despite it being the weekend. As one of the Xu family’s lawyers, she was tasked to handle every legal aspect involving Calliope’s case.
Soon, the Calliope would be recorded formally as Calix and Leslie’s child in the Xu family’s registry, bearing her new surna.
"I can’t wait..." Leslie sighed out of relief. Her glimring eyes t Calix’s, "She’ll be with us... days and nights very soon... I wonder what can we do... when she’s there... with us..."
How exciting would it be?
Leslie had been dreaming of it from the first ti she ca to this world. Fortunately, her wish was granted in only a few months.
In actuality, those few months were a torture to Leslie because her longing for Calliope only grew. She was able to bear it all with Mimo and Calix’s support.
llowing his gaze, Calix smiled fondly at Leslie. He loved seeing her happy as her joy easily influenced his heart.
And...
The feelings doubled, almost overwhelming him with a sickening sweet sensation – sothing he wouldn’t mind if it was because of her.
"Two more days. Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond will be excited to et her. They’ve been keeping the room spotless."
Calliope would be using one of the guestrooms for now. The place was more comfortable compared to the empty room waiting to be decorated.
"Hehe... Grandma also can’t wait for it... your parents too..."
Calix nodded, agreeing with Leslie’s words. His grandmother and parents had expressed solid support so far. They were also happy to hear Calliope would enter their family formally soon.
After much discussion, Calliope would formally leave the orphanage this coming Monday. Director Li, the staff and the children wanted to throw a farewell party for the little one tomorrow.
Calliope had been under orphanage care from her infancy. Not only did she have good relationships with the rest of the children but, she also adored Director Li and the staff.
Calliope was showered with love and affection. This was the least Leslie and Calix could do to create a morable mont with her loved ones before their separation.
"Aren’t you sleepy?" Calix threw his gaze to the wall clock, finding the ti had changed to eight-thirty, "We’ve been out since early morning. Let’s head to bed ah."
"Okay... Ah, when will we go there... tomorrow? Can we... have breakfast there?"
Calix inford Leslie they could go directly to the orphanage instead of waiting for Mrs. Fu’s arrival. But, she forgot the ti ntioned by him.
"Yup, we’ll head there at seven," Calix reached out for one of Leslie’s hands as he supported her back, assisting her to stand up, "The children usually have breakfast at eight during the weekend."
"Oh... I’ll wake up early..."
Calix supported Leslie in walking to the wheelchair. Her steps were steadier but, she still needed to be careful to avoid injuring herself.
Soon, Leslie lay alone on the bed. Calix imdiately left after wishing her a good night. Mrs. Su was just outside the room if she needed any help.
’Is she having fun now?’
Leslie recalled what Calliope told her and Calix before they left this late afternoon. The little one said she wanted to watch the television all night with her friends, sothing she wanted to do before leaving the orphanage.
"Hehehe, Granny said Poppy can do that! Wanna watch the princess cartoon!"
Director Li’s nod confird Calliope’s words. The older woman reassured Leslie and Calix they would keep watch over the children during the viewing session.
The husband and wife wouldn’t mind about the plan at all. They knew this was one of the last monts their daughter could share with her friends.
Hopefully, this separation wouldn’t end their friendship.
