A thought crossed Leslie’s mind as she looked at the toy Mimo.

’Why did Poppy and I transmigrate here in the first place? Is there any particular reason?’

Leslie had never wondered about it. She simply assud it happened because she was familiar with the story – like many transmigration stories she had read before.

There was sothing—one thing—that set Leslie’s transmigration and the ones in the stories apart.

More often than not, the main characters of those types of novels would transmigrate into the characters who shared the sa na with them. Usually, they were villainesses or cannon fodders.

But, she was chosen to transmigrate to be Charlene Li of this world, the possible love interest of the male lead’s best friend.

And...

Calix unexpectedly possessed so similar personality traits to Axel, including his likes and dislikes.

Was there any reason she transmigrated here?

Were the similarities simply coincidences?

Why did she feel there was sothing more beneath the surface?

What if...

Leslie continued staring at the crochet fox toy lying on the bed.

Mimo.

Did it know sothing?

Perhaps, there was a reason why the crochet fox toy brought her here.

Leslie still rembered the day of her death clearly, filling her with dread.

Mimo suddenly appeared as Leslie mourned for Calliope’s abrupt death. It only asked whether she wanted to live another life with her daughter or not.

Did Mimo specifically lead Calliope’s soul here?

Or, did it make the offer because it knew where her daughter’s soul went?

Pressing her lips together, Leslie’s brows furrowing.

Whether she got the answer or not, it wouldn’t hurt to settle what began puzzling her.

’Later. Let’s think about this later.’

Leslie didn’t let her new thoughts take away her main focus from Calliope. Anything else could wait. After settling her daughter in the new environnt, she would have plenty of ti to think.

Leslie returned her gaze to the open door. Calix was wiping Calliope’s small face with so tissue.

The child’s mood seed to improve as the pair shared so jokes. Their hearty laughter reached her, drawing a pleasant smile on her lips.

Thank goodness.

Hehe, did this an they would be inseparable in the future?

Calix would surely pamper Calliope a lot. Hopefully, not to the point of spoiling her rotten.

"Poppy is here~"

Calliope announced her return with Calix as soon as they walked past the door. Redness remained on her puffy eyes and small face but, her shy smile brightened her countenance.

"Hungry, Poppy?" Leslie chuckled, repeating Calix’s question from before. She knew how much of a glutton Calliope could be, "Let’s go and eat... with your friends..."

"Okay~ Mama and Papa follow too!"

Calix and Leslie shared so laughter. Calliope had gradually returned to her energetic and playful self. The husband and wife surely welcod this turn of events.

"Wait here first. Your mama needs to get in the wheelchair."

"Okay~"

Calix lowered Calliope to the ground, her tiny feet touching the floor.

"Want to call Mrs. An?" asked Calix while supporting Leslie’s back and under her knees. She placed one arm across his back.

"It’s okay... I can go to the toilet... later..."

As Calix moved Leslie to the wheelchair, Calliope climbed on the bed to grab the toy Mimo. She quickly slid down, landing swiftly on the floor.

"Mimo," Calliope whispered into the crochet fox toy’s right ear, her eyes glimring with stars, "You’re my guardian angel ah. Mama and Papa are here for Poppy~"

She was so so so happy!

Calix glanced at Calliope, raising his brows. He faintly heard her voice talking but, her words were not audible, "En? Did you say sothing, Poppy?"

Leslie also looked at Calliope. She lowered her hands from Calix’s shoulders as she adjusted her position in the wheelchair.

"Poppy... need sothing?"

"Ah, nothing ah," Calliope quickly shook her head, trying to tell Calix and Leslie that she really hadn’t said anything, "Hehe, nothing~"

Leslie smiled in helplessness. She shifted her attention to Calix, saying, "I can move the wheelchair... myself. You should... carry Poppy if she wants... to..."

"Poppy, want Papa to carry you?" Calix imdiately asked Calliope. He was open to any chances he could get to interact with the little one, "Or, want to walk by yourself?"

Perking up, Calliope quickly nodded. Her eyes glowed with anticipation.

"Yes! Carry Poppy, Papa!"

"Hahaha! Okay, my buttercup!"

Chuckling, Leslie fondly watched Calix bending down to carry Calliope. Each of his movents toward the child was full of care and gentleness as how he had always been to herself.

Calliope grasped the front of his shirt with one of her hands while the other continued holding the toy Mimo. She burst out giggling when Calix playfully teased her.

’What to do? I’m so happy I feel like crying. Ah... don’t cry...’

Inwardly laughing to herself, Leslie held back from tearing up. She was simply too happy and too grateful to see the heartwarming picture of a father treating his daughter lovingly.

Calliope seed to be at ease being carried by Calix as if she had experienced it countless tis before. There were no traces of unwillingness from her body language.

Seeing Calliope being comfortable with Calix stirred relief and joy in Leslie’s heart. This would help the father and daughter to deepen their bond.

"Should we go now?" asked Leslie while controlling the knob. She turned her wheelchair to face the door.

"Let’s, before we have a hangry child with us," replied Calix jokingly. Raising his brows, he asked Calliope, "Do you know what hangry ans?"

Calliope blinked, curiosity swirling in her round eyes, "Is that food?"

Wiggling his brows, Calix responded, "When you’re so hungry you turn angry ah."

Shocked, Calliope widened her eyes and parted her mouth. It took her a mont to realize Calix was making fun of her.

"No! Poppy isn’t hungry and angry!"

"Hahaha!"

Leslie almost snorted. She couldn’t help but think of Calliope’s fate in the future. She would surely experience what Alia and Evelyn had gone through so far.

Did this an she had to teach her daughter how to respond to her jokester of a father?
