Leslie and Calix reached Graceville Manor around six-thirty. The sun was dipping below the horizon, spreading brilliant colors of amber, violet and ruby.
Aunt Wendy had already accepted the clothes delivery from Lavender Thread half an hour ago. As per her employer’s instruction, she unpacked everything before washing them.
"Pick the one you wanna wear tomorrow morning," Calix told Leslie once they reached the second floor, "And choose three for to pack alongside my outfits. No less than that."
"...okay," Leslie agreed reluctantly. She wanted to object but, she might receive a side-eye from Calix.
Well, Calix’s idea was not bad. The excited Leslie actually thought how dull it would be if she kept wearing the sa clothes, especially when she was heading to Ro, the Eternal City.
But... whether she changed into different outfits or not, only CEO Xu could see her. The cara lens wouldn’t capture her either.
Nevermind. Let’s not complicate things. Once she wore the beautiful clothes bought from Lavender Thread, her mood might lift to the sky.
When else she could own stylish clothes made by renowned designers?
Thus, Leslie did as she was told. Once the clothes were dry, she picked four out of the ten outfits. After setting one aside for tomorrow morning, the other three would go into Calix’s huge suitcase.
"Calix, you pack the luggage yourself?" asked Leslie while handing the three clothes to Calix.
"Aunt Wendy who always does it," Calix draped the clothes on his right arm. He was amused to see them in different shades of pink, "But, I’ll add more things if I want to. Enough, go to sleep. We’ll depart early tomorrow."
"Yes~"
Leslie humd to a lody as she watched Calix walk out of her bedroom. She glanced at where Mimo was sitting. The crochet red fox toy curled near the motionless body lying on the bed.
"Mimo, you can appear right away once I call you, en? Even though I’ll be so far away?"
Leslie picked up the tox before cradling it in her arms. Despite already asking the sa question before, she still wanted to confirm it again.
Leslie, have fun there! If you want to appear, just call my na as usual.
Before Calix ca to get the clothes, Leslie told Mimo about the failed attempt of the second round. Mimo nuzzled its head against her face as if it was trying to cheer her up.
"I’ll do that. Hehe, I’ll bring Poppy there next ti."
Smiling gently, Leslie’s voice was brimming with hope. She tickled Mimo’s chin, treating it like a pet rather than a doll.
I’ll follow you and Poppy there, Leslie. Can I?
"Of course! You don’t want to follow this ti so, you have to when I bring Poppy there, okay?"
Hehehe, okay~
Leslie stroked Mimo’s head a few tis before she lay down on the bed. She placed the fox toy in the middle. Looking at Charlene’s body, a helpless smile graced her lips.
"I’ve found the pendant for you," Leslie’s eyes moved to the jade pendant worn over Charlene’s neck, "I’m sorry that I haven’t recalled the other thing you want to look for."
Leslie was frustrated because her mory failed her. She wondered what made her forget such an important thing. She couldn’t start her search if she rembered nothing.
Exhaling a sigh, Leslie closed her eyes. She silently thought how much ti had passed from the first day she entered this world.
"It’ll be my fourth week here soon."
The past three weeks had been so eventful. From the dramas surrounding the Li family, the ones of the Xu family and also what happened to the female lead Violet – all of them were chaotic.
But, the most important highlight was intimidating Sarah out of her wits to get her confession. It led to the retrieval of the jade pendant.
Despite everything, Leslie was grateful for having a good companion like Calix. If he refused to fulfill her requests and rejected her presence, she couldn’t smoothly accomplish anything.
"By this ti next month, I’ll be with Poppy."
Leslie’s soft whisper glided gently through the air, lacing with yearning. Outside, the moon spread its luster everywhere, guiding the wandering souls to its light.
Early the next morning, Uncle Raymond drove Calix to the airport. Instead of his usual business suit, the young man chose to wear a casual outfit consisting of a maroon-colored shirt, cream jacket and black pants.
Leslie asked before they headed out of the manor, thinking why Calix ditched his tailored suit. Calix said he would change into it once they reached Ro. He wanted to be comfortable while traveling for long hours.
"Oh, that makes sense."
Leslie’s reply earned laughter from Calix.
Calix’s arrival at the airport was welcod by Edward and two other assistants, Mr. Tan and Mr. Hao. Once they t, the n straightaway talked about business.
Mr. Tan and Mr. Hao would board the private flight together with Calix, leaving Edward to handle the affairs at the company.
Leslie paid no attention to the n’s business talk. Her focus fell on the splendid private jet standing on the taxiway of the airport. Covering her mouth with both hands, awestruck by its sight.
’Wow~ I’ve never thought that I’d ever ride a private jet.’
When Leslie was younger, she often wondered about flying on a flight. Her family had never taken one to travel thus, she never had the chance.
Leslie couldn’t think how laughable the situation was. She was able to take a glimpse into the life of the wealthy after dying under the wreckage in her previous life.
Calix, Edward, Mr. Hao and Mr. Tan continued their discussion in the forr’s private room on the flight.
The place was spacious enough for a bedroom, washroom and lounge. The flight attendants served so drinks and snacks for the n.
"Since everything’s done, go to your seats," Calix glanced at Mr. Tan and Mr. Hao, telling them after sipping his drink, "I’ll just be in my chamber. Don’t fret about the business too much. We’ll only land after thirteen hours."
"Understand, CEO Xu."
"Don’t hesitate to call us if you want to discuss this matter again, Boss Xu."
Mr. Hao and Mr. Tan left Calix’s private room, leaving Edward with their boss. Leslie was looking out the flight windows. She didn’t notice that Calix was subtly glancing at her before focusing on Edward.
"Don’t get the company burnt in a fire. Keep watch on everything. I know you’ll do a good job, Chief Assistant Zhang," Calix playfully teased Edward, earning a sigh from the younger man.
"If there’s a fire, I’ll let the firefighters handle it. I won’t harm myself in the process, Boss Xu. I still have a vacation I wanna go."
Calix made a face, throwing a stink-eye to Edward who remained impassive.
"Talking to you is no fun. Go back to the office now," Calix waved one hand, shooing Edward away.
"I’ll go now, Boss Xu. Have a safe flight."
Edward gave Calix a slight nod, ignoring the unsatisfied look on his boss’ face. Before he closed the door to separate the room from the rest of the flight, he threw so last words to Calix.
"Don’t be bewitched by the hazel-eyed beauties, Boss. Rember your wife at ho."
"..."
If only this brat knew that his wife followed him on this trip.
