Chapter 1008: Chapter 1008: Hayes Simmons Is a Man of Few Words

Lena’s attitude was to be expected.

At their first eting, in Lena’s eyes, she was just a poor woman trying to climb the social ladder.

Now that her identity is confird, she’s marrying Matthew Saxon; she would be her boss’s wife, so of course, Lena acts politely.

Even though it’s human nature, Scarlett Yates couldn’t help feeling a bit of contempt for Lena’s change.

She nodded expressionlessly and didn’t say much, responding lightly: "Mm."

Scarlett had been to Matthew Saxon’s office before, and it was the sa as the first ti she saw it—still so dull and somber, just black and white.

Scarlett casually picked a spot to sit. She had been seated for barely five minutes when she heard footsteps coming from outside the door.

The sound stopped at the door.

Then Lena’s voice rang out: "Yes, Miss Yates is inside, just arrived a while ago."

Lena’s voice was very respectful, and Scarlett Yates imdiately guessed the identity of the person outside the door.

The office door opened, and the first thing she saw was a pair of polished black leather shoes, followed by Matthew Saxon entering in a suit and tie.

Seeing her lazily lounging on the sofa, Matthew Saxon raised his wrist to check the ti and nodded, seemingly satisfied: "Mm, exactly half an hour."

After speaking, he raised an eyebrow: "Why hasn’t your friend shown up?"

Scarlett was just about to ask him that when he arrived. She tossed the magazine she had just flipped a page of onto the coffee table, raised her chin, and looked at him: "Matthew Saxon, I have to ask you sothing, and you must be honest with ."

Matthew Saxon walked over to the sofa, reached out his long arms, and as he sat down, pulled her into his lap.

He held her, one hand wrapped around her waist, the other not idle as he pinched her cheek, his peach blossom eyes smiling: "What is it? Your expression is so serious."

Scarlett pushed his hand away: "Be serious."

Matthew Saxon’s hand reached over again: "I am serious, Scarlett, tell , what is it?"

Scarlett thought for a mont and asked: "Did you already know about Stella and Hayes Simmons being together?"

Matthew Saxon was taken aback, but soon he smiled, his husky voice a bit lazy: "Not too early, really. Hayes Simmons is tight-lipped, only keeps things to himself and wouldn’t willingly tell others. I only found out after he got drunk; I didn’t know much about it. Why do you suddenly ask?"

Thinking of Stella Nelson’s pregnancy, Scarlett Yates frowned.

"I’m asking you, how much do you know about Hayes Simmons’ fiancée, and do you think if Hayes Simmons wants to break the engagent for Stella, what would the Simmons Family do?"

"If he insists on being with Stella, would the Simmons Family agree?"

Judging by Hayes Simmons’ actions, he seed to care for Stella Nelson, but how much exactly, Scarlett didn’t know.

But since they both had mutual feelings and there was a child, Scarlett wanted to fight for it for her.

If they could fight for a happy ending, that would be perfect.

With just a few questions, Matthew Saxon knew exactly what she had in mind.

His phoenix eyes narrowed, he smiled, seemingly careless: "What, you want her to marry into the Simmons Family?"

In front of Matthew Saxon, Scarlett Yates didn’t need to hide her intentions. She nodded and said: "Yes, I hope she can marry Hayes Simmons. What do you think the chances are?"
