Chapter 1928: Cap 1924: Revisiting mories
After leaving Urak’s confinent room, Lena stays behind for a few seconds, reinforcing the protective enchantnts to prevent suicide as well as to prevent her mind from completely breaking. After all, a vegetable doesn’t suffer, and we don’t want her punishnt to be so short-lived.
I continue walking beside Urd in an uncomfortable silence. I know she doesn’t like what we did, but she understands, or at least I’d like to think she does.
Sigh
"Don’t worry, it’ll only be a few days, maybe a few weeks." ()
"I’ve noticed the acceleration of her thoughts; to her, it will seem like centuries." (Urd)
"I won’t pretend to understand how you feel, but she’s a monster; she’s no better than the Demons who stand beside Callidora." ()
"I regret not being able to get my hands on Mavor and Vecna, but I won’t let her escape!" ()
"They killed trillions of people in my universe and held them hostage! They tried to kill several tis! They attacked my ho!" ()
"I know, but I can’t change my feelings." (Urd)
"I wouldn’t ask you to do that, but I want you to at least understand my decision. I’m already being too lenient by letting all the other Ascended escape with just one rebirth." ()
"You must understand that there are still those who will persecute you and the Ascended for what was done. This story is far from over, and the surviving victims won’t want explanations; they’ll want blood." ()
"I know." (Urd)
Sigh
I stop talking again. I can sense her mind’s focus shifting from Urak to the future by the way her eyes are lost. That was exactly what she wanted. Urak isn’t worth her concern.
"Any news about the Curse?" ()
"No, I’m not sure about his movents, but he’s already corrupted all the universal cores and is in the process of creating a new universal stream." (Urd)
"Didn’t he try to take the Stream of Laws? I thought it was connected to the Universal Cores." ()
"After 89 woke up and learned to better control his power, we worked together to get him to completely take over the Stream of Laws, and as a precaution, I separated him from the Universal Cores." (Urd)
"This makes us targets. They don’t just want this universe, they want all of them... this universe is just the gateway, and you just unlocked that door." ()

"No, but an army is forming. Origin Beasts and Anomalous Creatures are entering the universe, so are even being born here; it’s their doing." (Urd)
Right now, we’re in the final stretch of this dispute, but Hatred among everyone is my biggest problem. I also suspect Greed is being very quiet, as is War.
"Do a favor, schedule a eting with everyone. I don’t like being defensive, let’s go on the attack." ()

I was sitting cross-legged on the floor, a sandwich in one hand and a bottle of so kind of sweet alcoholic beverage in the other.
"You and I were useless." ()
"We thought we’d only face the Ascended; no one expected so many Entities to be involved." (Selene)
Selene approached, her hands holding a large plate with half a four-layer cake that made my eyes pop.
"Your sweet tooth is still childish... hahahahahahahaha..." ()
"Shut up, you lazy Dragon, we’re Gods, we can at least afford so luxuries." (Selene)
She sat beside and ate small pieces of her cake while I ate my al. We spent so ti in silence, gazing at the horizon.
The Temple of Urd rose into the sky like a fragnting staircase, crossing into a new starfield where the Space City floated alone like a universal monunt.
Sigh
"I asked Hades for permission, wanting to peek into his mories..." ()
"I did the sa with Samara... after seeing my son’s condition, I couldn’t help but be curious..." (Selene)
We fell silent again, a heavy air descending around us. For Gods to admit their own powerlessness in the face of sothing wasn’t easy, especially for a Dragon like .
"It’s been a long ti since I felt weak... but seeing Hades’ mories, I was certain." ()
"I could defeat those Infernal Chiras, I could fight that Envoy, but those two Titans... it would be impossible. It was clear that the great colossus fighting the agents of War was too strong for , and the one who faced Zenos was weakened by so kind of seal. Even so, that power he displayed for a brief mont was not sothing I could face." ()
"The worst of all was that last Creature. His power was constantly increasing, and he couldn’t be killed, let alone sealed... but I realized that was impossible; his chaos power would break any seal." (Selene)
We fell silent once more. My mind tried to find a way to at least maintain a fight against these enemies. But being far from our universe and with our Divinity weakened, it was impossible. Even in our universe, where I could use all my power, it would still be uncertain if anything would change.
"When we return, sothing must change. The tis ahead will be dangerous." (Selene)
"Many Entities are watching him. At so point, they tried to use us against him, just as the Ascended did, using those Souls as hostages." ()
"Zenos can’t be blad for this, but I don’t want to be protected. My pride and willpower won’t allow to remain so weak!" ()
"As a mother, I’m happy to see him grow, but I don’t like being important in helping him. I can’t go through that again. I won’t accept seeing him sacrifice himself while I stand back and watch!" (Selene)
"Don’t confuse the past and the present, Selene." ()

It was hard to admit our weaknesses, it was hard to decide our path when we once thought we were at the top, but now I see that I’ve beco too complacent over the ages.

Pov Urak:
I couldn’t control my mind, my mories, or even my own consciousness. It was as if soone was holding tightly. When I opened my eyes, I was back in my childhood, looking at a nostalgic tree where a child sat in the branches reading a book.
The strange thing was what the child did after that: she started crying. At first, they were normal tears, but gradually, those tears turned red and finally turned black as ink.
With her sad expression, the little girl turned page after page of her book, her hands trembling. When I looked at the book, I realized with shock that it was my research journal. I hadn’t given much detail about the experints, just a basic outline, main points, and the results.
"Why did you do this?" (?)
"I wanted to grow up and read more books, I wanted people to learn like , I wanted to be a teacher..." (?)
"People are stupid, few understand the value of knowledge." ()
"I wanted to be better than Mom and Dad, I didn’t want to be as cold as them, I wanted to have friends..." (?)

Suddenly everything changes. mories I didn’t even know I had flood into my mind as the world around shifts. Suddenly, I’m in a nursery where a couple looks at their newborn daughter with almost emotionless expressions, but the woman has tears streaming down her face.
Tears
"She was actually born healthy..." (Mother)
"I’ll accept the promotion tomorrow. Even if I have little ti, it will be worth it if I can give her everything we didn’t have." (Father)
"This won’t make the debts go away. As soon as I recover a little more, I can write so books from ho." (Mother)
Seeing all this was shocking. Suddenly, the words ’debt’ and ’promotion’ surface along with mories of letters that arrived ho while I was growing up, of argunts I overheard between them, and how they always gave the best of everything: the best clothes, the best books, the best education, and everything else I needed or asked for.
"They loved us, they just didn’t know how to show it... we never lacked for anything... their lives were hard, and yet we know nothing, they never told you, and you never tried to find out... you just kept blaming them for doing their best." (?)

I couldn’t understand. It had been thousands of years since I’d thought of my parents, I hadn’t even attended their funeral ceremonies because of my work with Vecna and Mavor.
But suddenly, a single mory turned everything I believed to be right upside down.
"BUT WHEN IT WAS YOUR TURN, WHAT DID YOU DO!!???" (?)
