Chapter 15 - Wedding Night

The fresh blood sprayed onto the wedding robes, looking sowhat dark.

In his arms, the struggles of Yang Guifang's body grew smaller and smaller.

Her eyes were full of pleading, begging for Song Yan to let her go.

This damned will to live.

I wonder if at this mont, she would rember those people she had killed?

Had those people also pleaded like her?

The struggles gradually weakened. The constantly draining life force was stripping Yang Guifang of her strength.

In fact, human vitality is really tenacious. Even with such a serious injury as having one's throat cut, she actually didn't die right away.

Of course, for Yang Guifang, this was not a good thing. To feel death approaching little by little—that feeling was not pleasant. One could tell just by looking at her gradually despairing eyes.

About two or three minutes passed, maybe shorter, maybe a little longer. Yang Guifang's body finally stopped moving.

As Song Yan moved his hand away, Yang Guifang collapsed to the ground, still twitching occasionally. The wound on her neck continued to ooze blood.

Silently looking at the corpse on the ground, Song Yan felt no fear in his heart, none of the tremors of a first-ti killer. Perhaps it was because of the alcohol, but Song Yan only felt a faint trace of violence in his heart, and the... pleasure of a long-repressed feeling finally being released.

He crouched down and wiped the dagger clean on Yang Guifang's body.

This was just the beginning.

Soon, it would be Yang Shi's turn... Before killing Yang Shi, should I kill her several sons first? This was a question worth pondering.

When Song Yan looked up, his face had already returned to its habitual, slightly childish smile. That appearance made even the few household guards, who often did dirty work, feel a chill in their hearts.

"Big Brothers, could I trouble you to handle this? Please. I'm a little drunk over here."

Song Yan forcefully shook his head. Damn it, he still drank too much. Even if the yellow wine's alcohol content wasn't high, it was still getting to his head.

"What about those three?" Luo Tianshu asked slowly.

"Let's keep them under watch for now. Interrogate them and see if we can get anything out of them."

"What should we ask?"

"Anything. As long as it's related to the Song family."

Shaking his head again, Song Yan took off the wedding robes soaked in blood, put on an ordinary long robe, and walked outside. The cold wind blew past, and his consciousness cleared a little, but his head was still groggy.

Behind him, a few household guards began to clean up the bloodstains in the room, as well as Yang Guifang's corpse.

A human life was gone just like that. On this dark night, it didn't stir the slightest ripple.

His eyes looked in all directions. The courtyard was spacious and exquisitely decorated. Yet Song Yan didn't know where he should go. Even after living in this world for fifteen years, Song Yan could still clearly feel a faint, indistinct mbrane that still existed between him and this world.

Today, after getting married, this feeling had lessened a little, but only a little.

Should I go to the back courtyard?

That's where Luo Tianxuan lives.

He is a live-in son-in-law. According to the rules, he should pay her a visit.

Many servant boys were on night watch. Seeing Song Yan, they all bowed respectfully. No one looked down on him because of his status as a live-in son-in-law. Seeing Song Yan walk towards the back courtyard, no one stopped him either.

Gradually, he could no longer see any servants. The cold wind blew continuously, yet Song Yan felt hot all over.

Perhaps he was really drunk.

Song Yan actually had the urge to sing out loud. He thought it, and he did it:

"Grandpa's chicken has a chicken coop, I want to knife and fork my brother..."

His voice, which was in the middle of changing, produced a tone-deaf sound. Song Yan felt that he actually had quite a talent for singing. If he were on Earth, he would at least be at the level of Brother Batfly.

But he didn't know when he would finally have a vast sky and a boundless ocean.

"Everyone knows you want to kill your brother, but you don't have to howl it so everyone can hear, do you?"

A voice as delicate and crisp as that of a sixteen-year-old girl.

Song Yan blinked, and his eyes gradually focused. Under the moonlight was a row of snow-white courtyard walls, with an arched gate in the middle. Unknowingly, he had already arrived at the entrance to the back courtyard.

A Daoist priestess, holding a horsetail whisk, was standing there quietly.

Her face was covered by a veil, so her features and age could not be seen clearly. But judging by her fair and tender skin, she was probably around twenty years old. Her dark black eyes were sizing up this young master-in-law of the Luo family with a hint of curiosity.

Her Daoist robe was made of pure white cloth. Although it was wide, the tightly fastened belt revealed a slender, handful of a curve.

A veil?

Ever since the incident in the cave, he seed to have beco sowhat allergic to veils. As soon as he saw a veil, the image of the white-robed woman in the cave would subconsciously surface in his mind, and he would habitually compare the woman in front of him to that white-robed woman.

Most n are probably like this, always having a special impression of their first woman.

A slender figure, a similar voice, and even a veil on her face...

Song Yan opened his mouth, but the words that reached his lips were swallowed back down. He was drunk, but not completely drunk. He still retained so of his reason.

Now that he was married, there were so things he could no longer let his imagination run wild about. Luo Yuheng's indulgence towards him was not a reason to act recklessly.

A person must know their own limits.

Letting out a small breath, Song Yan cupped his fists in greeting: "Daoist Priestess, you are..."

"Yushuang. The Grand Princess invited to co and nurse Miss Tianxuan back to health," the Daoist priestess answered frankly.

Song Yan understood in his heart. Since ancient tis, dicine and Daoism have been inseparable. Many Daoist priests have divine dical skills. Even the dicine King Sun Simiao was said to have co from a Daoist background. When ntioning Sun Simiao, people often respectfully call him Daoist Priest Sun. It's likely that it was this Daoist Priestess Yushuang who used things like transferring true qi to heal her. Otherwise, in this era, it would be impossible for soone with consumption to live this long.

"Tianxuan already knows you were coming. She specifically asked to apologize to you. To make her husband spend his wedding night alone in an empty room, but her body is afflicted with a contagious disease, so it is truly not appropriate for her to co out and et. As for the greetings, it should be her paying respects to her husband; there is no logic in making the husband pay respects. She also asked to thank you. Thanks to your dicine, she now has hope of survival."

"If my lord husband feels lonely, you can look for Banxia, Kong Chan..."

Before the wedding, Gu Banxia had returned to the Luo family once. When she appeared again, she had three more handmaidens with her: Kong Chan, Die Yi, and Xue Ying. Of Luo Yuheng's eight personal handmaidens, half had been sent over.

Although he wasn't able to see what his wife looked like, her words made it impossible to dislike her. She had given Song Yan plenty of face.

As the Daoist priestess relayed Luo Tianxuan's words, she couldn't help but sigh. She had watched that girl Tianxuan suffer from the lung disease for years. Especially at night, she couldn't sleep at all. The violent coughing could tear her throat, and what she coughed up was all blood.

That feeling was truly a pain worse than death.

Tianxuan herself had said that death was not frightening to her; perhaps it was a release.

But, the young master-in-law in front of her, only fifteen or sixteen years old, had delivered a miracle dicine. She had also seen the dicine, but couldn't make heads or tails of it.

But after taking the dicine, Luo Tianxuan's condition had improved at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Consumption, a disease that even the dicine King Sun Simiao couldn't solve, now had a hope of being cured under those few small tablets. This made Yushuang all the more curious about this youth. At such an age, even if he had started learning dicine in his mother's womb, it would be impossible to have such an accomplishnt.

How could Yushuang know that the dicine Song Yan took out was the crystallization of modern technology? Its effects were naturally incomparable to those of the ancients from a thousand years ago.

"Tianxuan has been taking the dicine for a few days. How is her condition now?" Song Yan asked.

The last ti when the wedding date was set, Luo Tianyang had secretly taken a few more tablets from Song Yan when he left.

"Much better. The effect on the first day was the most obvious. After that, although there was still an effect, it gradually weakened." Yushuang said. This was a normal phenonon, so she didn't doubt the dicine's effectiveness because of it.

"In recent days, Tianxuan can finally fall asleep with so difficulty. Although she still coughs at night, it's much better than before."

"She coughs?"

Thinking for a mont, Song Yan took out a few brown tablets from his bosom.

"When the cough is severe, she can take one tablet."

Yushuang glanced at them. It was this strange tablet-like object again, but this ti it looked a bit more like dicine. At least it slled stinky.

These were licorice tablets, not compound licorice tablets.

Reaching out to take them, her bright white fingertips inadvertently touched Song Yan's palm. Yushuang's body trembled slightly and imperceptibly, but her expression remained normal.

Song Yan didn't notice this. He just nodded at Yushuang and turned to leave. It wasn't until Song Yan's back disappeared from view that Yushuang suddenly let out a heavy breath. Even through the veil, one could see a blush spreading across her fair cheeks.

A small hand gently rested on her chest. Her heart was pounding.

Her dark eyes revealed a bit of complexity.

She and Luo Tianyi ca from the sa lineage and had grown up in a Daoist monastery since childhood. In terms of seniority, she was considered Luo Tianyi's martial aunt. They naturally cultivated the sa technique. But it wasn't that ti of the month, was it?

Why did she feel like the desire backlash was about to arrive early?

Could it be that spring has arrived, and I'm also affected?

But it's sumr now, right?

I don't understand.

Shaking her little head, Yushuang turned and went back into the back courtyard.

On the other side, Song Yan continued to "knife and fork my brother" with his mouth, preparing to go back and rest.

Inside the room, the red candles were still flickering. The bloodstains on the floor had been cleaned up.

Looking at the white silk spread on the wedding bed, ant to receive the bride's purity, Song Yan was unable to help laughing. Just as he was about to reach out and lift the white silk cloth, he suddenly felt a cold wind from behind him. The red candles were abruptly extinguished, and the bridal chamber was plunged into darkness.

Song Yan subconsciously turned. Although it was pitch black, he could still see a hazy silhouette. The figure was tall, slender, and slim. A belt was fastened at the waist, cinching out a graceful curve. That silhouette was one and the sa as the woman from the cave.

Black hair cascaded down.

The young woman's faint fragrance drilled into his nasal cavity.

Song Yan was a bit dazed. He wanted to ask who she was, but a sweet little mouth blocked his. Even through that thin layer of light gauze, he could still feel the delicate softness of her cherry lips.
