"I’m telling the truth," Lin Ruoxuan said coldly, glancing at Gu Xiaojun, "Gu Xiaojun, what if I told you that Liu Zheng and his wife are divorced now? Would you still love him?"

"What?!" Gu Xiaojun exclaid, her mouth agape, "Impossible!"

"Why impossible?" Lin Ruoxuan raised an eyebrow, "See for yourself!"

With that, Lin Ruoxuan threw down a stack of docunts and turned to leave, her back exuding arrogance and disdain.

Gu Xiaojun opened the docunts and was imdiately stunned.

It turned out that, not long ago, Liu Zheng and his wife Fang Fang had divorced.

For a split second, Gu Xiaojun felt a thrill of joy, but it was swiftly replaced by a deep sense of loss.

Their relationship could never revert to what it once was...

Liu Zheng had married Gu Xiaojun because his father, Su Jianhua, was a British aristocrat, and the Su Family possessed strong financial backing.

Such a family background predestined that Liu Zheng’s career would continue to grow, successfully joining the ranks of the top corporate entities in the country—a dream Liu Zheng had long aspired to achieve.

After Liu Zheng and Fang Fang were married, the couple always treated each other with respect and tenderness—a solid and loving relationship. But a year ago, Fang Fang suddenly fell ill and died.

The news devastated Liu Zheng. He lost all interest in love and lived each day imrsed in the pain of losing his wife.

And thus, he and Gu Xiaojun missed each other...

All the information about him was tossed in front of Gu Xiaojun by Lin Ruoxuan, who sneered, "Gu Xiaojun, you’re now the Young Master Han’s wife, but do you know why the Han Family chose you?"

Gu Xiaojun shook her head, "I don’t. Is it because I’m beautiful?"

"No!" Lin Ruoxuan rolled her eyes, "No matter how ugly or beautiful, the Han Family wouldn’t care for you."

"Why?"

"Because they consider you lacking family background."

Gu Xiaojun was stunned. The Han Family’s background?

The Han Family was the leading enterprise in City A, one of the very few wealthy families there.

The Han Family n, aside from Liu Zheng’s son, were all very accomplished. Liu Zheng’s mother, the young miss of the Su family, was a top-notch designer whose designs were coveted by socialites and heiresses across the country.

The Han Family was also a very mysterious and low-key clan.

The Han Family Head was a retired military officer who worked with the army and seldom returned ho, so the Han Family’s status in City A was high. anwhile, the Family Head’s wife, Fang Fang, was the only daughter of a British aristocrat.

After Fang Fang’s death, the division of the Han Family’s wealth beca fiercely contested.

Firstly, it was clearly stated in Fang Fang’s will that all the Han Family’s assets belonged to Liu Zheng, including all the properties, cars, and bank accounts under his na.

Of course, Liu Zheng’s wealth was the result of hard work by his father and grandfather, so he didn’t need to take anything.

On the other hand, Liu Zheng’s father, Han Jianren, was an influential marshal in the political arena. His son Liu Zheng was intelligent and had made a na for himself in the military after graduating from a military academy.

Han Jianren worked in governnt departnts, and though he had no authority to inherit Han Family wealth, his official rank was substantial—higher than Liu Zheng’s.

Who would have thought that such a prestigious father and son would divorce?

Liu Zheng was a very proud man. He wouldn’t give up his current luxury and glory, so there must be so hidden truth within the Han Family.

"Do you rember the little brat I ntioned before, that I saw in the Han Family mansion?" Lin Ruoxuan said with a cold laugh, "That’s Han Ze, Liu Zheng’s half-brother. He was the only brother of Liu Zheng, and they were very close to Fang Fang, their mother. But after she died, Han Ze disappeared too."

"You an..." Gu Xiaojun furrowed her brow, "Liu Zheng’s divorce is related to Fang Fang’s death?"

"It’s a possibility," Lin Ruoxuan scoffed, "Han Ze has been pursuing a model abroad these past few years, but the model ignored him. So, he tried to sabotage the model but failed. Then, he ca up with a plan. He poisoned Fang Fang’s food and killed her. Several of Han Family’s uncles know about this."

Gu Xiaojun turned pale, her body trembling involuntarily.

"Despicable!"

Liu Zheng’s experiences over these years pained and evoked her sympathy. Such a proud man, yet he was bearing so much pressure.

"Does Liu Zheng know about it?"

"He probably doesn’t," Lin Ruoxuan shook her head, "Otherwise, he wouldn’t stay away. He’d be eager to tear Han Ze limb from limb."

Liu Zheng’s return to the country was surely for a reason. His staying away was likely for fear of being implicated in Fang Fang’s death.

"Then... do the Han Family know about this?" Gu Xiaojun asked nervously, fearing Liu Zheng might be hard because of it.

Lin Ruoxuan sighed, speaking helplessly, "They’ve known for a long ti. How else could they tolerate his antics all these years? Maybe... they’ve been complicit, but I can’t be sure."

"Complicit?" Gu Xiaojun frowned—such an explanation seed far-fetched.

"I heard..." Gu Xiaojun recalled the words of the old Han master, "He once went to speak with Liu Zheng."

"What?"

"He said he would secure Liu Zheng’s position within the Han Family."

Gu Xiaojun’s mood was heavy. If that was the case... she couldn’t help but admire the elder of the Han Family.

"Then you say..." Lin Ruoxuan looked towards the window, "why would he do that?"

"Perhaps, he has his own considerations. After all, he hasn’t fully recovered yet. If anything happens to him now..." Gu Xiaojun paused, "I think Liu Zheng definitely wouldn’t want to see that outco."

Lin Ruoxuan nodded, "Yes, I also feel he wouldn’t want that outco to happen! But... why does he insist on sending you back?"

"I don’t understand," Gu Xiaojun said softly, "but I feel that he might be worried that I’ll leak secrets, so he decided to do this."

"You... do you really think that’s what he’s thinking?" Lin Ruoxuan asked, "I always feel that there’s more to it than what he’s said."

"Maybe... it’s really just that," Gu Xiaojun said with a bitter smile.

"You’ve been following him for so long, have you felt that his personality has changed?" Lin Ruoxuan asked.

Gu Xiaojun pondered. The change in Liu Zheng’s personality was indeed significant.

The Liu Zheng she rembered was temperate and modest, with a nice personality and took good care of her. But now... his gaze and actions hinted at slyness and a cold brutality!

She dared not imagine how he had spent these years. No wonder he had beco the person he was today.

Lin Ruoxuan sighed, "Xiaojun..."

Gu Xiaojun looked up at her, "Hmm?"

"Do you feel that after returning to the country this ti, he has changed sowhat?" Lin Ruoxuan asked cautiously.

"Has he?" Gu Xiaojun looked down.

Lin Ruoxuan nodded, "I think he has changed... he has beco frightening, intimidating. He’s even more fearso than before!"

Gu Xiaojun slightly curved her lips, "That’s quite good. If he has changed, it gives him a chance for revenge and to live his life better. For him, this is a good thing."

"Is that what you think?"

"Yes, I won’t tell anyone," Gu Xiaojun said earnestly, "including his father."

"Does he know?"

"I’m not clear on that..." Gu Xiaojun lowered her gaze.

She didn’t know Liu Zheng’s attitude or whether he had guessed her presence. She only knew that he wasn’t the Liu Zheng of the past anymore. He was a dangerous person, and she needed to keep her distance.

Lin Ruoxuan patted Gu Xiaojun’s shoulder, "You need to be careful. Liu Zheng’s personality has beco unpredictable. He won’t let Han Ze off easily. Don’t get close to him, understand?"

Gu Xiaojun nodded, "I understand. I don’t like dealing with him either. Let’s try to avoid him from now on!"

Lin Ruoxuan smiled, "Good to know! By the way, about you and Han Ze..."

She had not finished speaking when a knock at the door interrupted her.

Lin Ruoxuan walked over to open the door.

"Secretary Lin, the president requests your imdiate presence at the board eting."

"A eting?" Lin Ruoxuan frowned. She had never participated in any eting before, "What eting is it?"

"It’s about the last bid eting."

Lin Ruoxuan nodded, "Understood."

She turned back inside the room.

"Secretary Lin..."

"What? Is there anything else?" Lin Ruoxuan turned to look at her.

"The president requests your presence at the eting."

"Alright, I got it."

"Then I’ll leave first."

"Sure."

After the secretary left, Lin Ruoxuan closed the door and her expression instantly darkened.

She wasn’t an employee of Han Corporation but rather a doctor whose salary was minimal, so she generally didn’t involve herself in Han Ze’s company affairs.

However, her responsibility was to assist Han Ze in treating and saving people. If anything happened to Han Ze, she wouldn’t be able to escape involvent.

This thought made her sowhat troubled.
