"Er Dong actually left our village the earliest. He was born here, but grew up in the city. Later, when the breeding farm was established here, he was the only one who knew about breeding, so the village chief invited him over, and he stayed for about three to five years."
"With the breeding farm in this state, why does he refuse to give it up? What exactly is he doing inside, and what can he get from it when they can’t even afford to pay wages?"
"I’m not clear on that, so there have been rumors outside that he’s no longer here. In truth, no one knows the actual situation inside. If they really can’t afford to pay wages, there’s no point in insisting on staying."
The people around him provided a cacophony of insider information about the breeding farm.
Liu Zheng had never paid much attention to it before, but this ti was different; he had to find out what was happening, and moreover, he needed them to understand what caused all this.
Eventually, they followed a few people and walked toward the breeding farm in the village.
Apart from making house calls, Liu Zheng had never really co to this western part of the village before. He only knew that the construction site here was indeed very large.
From a distance, Liu Zheng could see that it was completely surrounded by walls, with a very large iron gate in the center of the breeding farm, which was about three ters high. Now, the gate was shut tight.
After arriving outside, he tried to walk around the wall to see what was inside, but he found that the height of the wall had reached two ters, aning a normal person standing at the base wouldn’t be able to see the real situation inside the yard.
"Doctor Liu, don’t bother. If it were so easy to see inside the factory, wouldn’t the information be publicly available? So, these people are very good at keeping secrets."
"I rember that the workers recruited for the breeding farm were all from our village, weren’t they? There was a recruitnt drive a few years back, if I recall correctly."
"At first, indeed all the workers were from our village, but as the breeding farm gradually declined, it couldn’t sustain so many people. So, they left one after another. When I left, there were only two or three people remaining. To my knowledge, even they left the year before last."
"So you’re saying that now there’s no one at the breeding farm at all?"
"Not exactly. I’ve heard from others that there are still people coming and going, but what they do is unclear, and indeed, they’re not from our village, so it’s been shrouded in mystery."
"Alright, I’ve got it. No matter what, the breeding farm is a part of our village and the land it uses is also from our village. Thus, we absolutely have the right to go in. Go ahead, knock on the door, but rember, let’s keep things peaceful today. Do not get into any conflicts, understand?"
Liu Zheng was sowhat worried about Li Dazhuang, who was strong and robust. If Li got provoked and things turned physical, things could beco really complicated.
"Don’t worry Doctor Liu, after we get in, we will follow your lead."
After saying that, Li Dazhuang walked forward and vigorously knocked on the gate.
However, after knocking for a while, there seed to be no response from inside. Seeing this, Liu Zheng slightly furrowed his brows.
"What’s going on? Isn’t there supposed to be people inside? Didn’t you say that people have been seen coming and going?"
"Well, to tell the truth, I’ve never actually seen it for myself. I’ve just heard it from the villagers. So, I’m not clear on what’s really happening. Could it just be a rumor, or maybe most of the ti there’s no one around?"
"It’s hard to say. Knock harder; maybe it’s because the place is so large that they didn’t hear it? Also, look around here - isn’t there a doorbell or a cara or sothing?"
While speaking, he carefully searched around the gate, but he couldn’t find the kind of thing he was hoping to see.
They knocked at the gate for a good ten minutes, but still, there was no response, and no one ca out from inside.
"Doctor Liu, it seems our guess is right; there’s likely nobody inside. Should we find another ti to co back then?"
"Why find another ti? First off, let tell you, this breeding farm is a collective property of the village, and I am now the village chief. I definitely have the right to go inside. So, if no one responds, then we’ll have to find another way."
As he spoke, Liu Zheng stepped back a few steps. Moreover, if an adult wanted to climb over the wall here, it really wouldn’t be too difficult of a task.
One could just use a ladder or two people could build a human ladder, and similarly, they could help soone over.
He looked back at the few people following him; indeed, Li Dazhuang seed to be the tallest among them.
"Li Dazhuang, this ti, we may not have any other choice. What we need is for you to climb over from here. Tell , would you prefer soone to give you a boost, or should we find a ladder from the village right now?"
After hearing this, Li Dazhuang nodded, then eyed the wall carefully, estimating its height to be at least 2.5 ters.
"If we use people to form a ladder, I think it’ll be difficult. Let’s find a real ladder instead; it should be safer, and I’ll have a steadier landing. "
Subsequently, he borrowed a ladder nearly three ters high from a resident’s house nearby, and with it propped against the wall, they could effortlessly enter.
Just as he started climbing the ladder, he suddenly heard soone shouting towards them from the other side.
