The clinic these past few days, seed very quiet, with only a sparse number of patients coming in to get dication for various symptoms.

No longer was there the large volu of patients as before, so this sudden change made Liu Zheng truly feel a lot more relaxed.

Therefore, Liu Zheng closed the clinic’s main door tightly from the inside and then went straight to the inner room and lay down on the bed.

Ergencies in the middle of the night, actually, were a common occurrence, and the place wasn’t far from the entrance; as long as soone knocked on the door, Liu Zheng could still hear it very clearly.

Unaware, Liu Zheng dozed off and really entered into a dream.

He suddenly felt as though he was standing in the middle of a vast, empty street, with darkness surrounding both sides.

At that mont, he saw an elderly man with a walking stick, slowly entering his field of vision.

This, this, isn’t this the sa old man he had seen before? How could he appear here again?

Unlike what everybody else described, this ti he wasn’t facing away from him but towards him.

However, the lighting was rather dim, so Liu Zheng could only try to positively make out the man’s face, to confirm if it was indeed the sa person.

As the man walked closer, he slowly straightened his hunched body.

"Ah."

Liu Zheng suddenly shouted because he could see very clearly that the man’s flesh was blurry, and even his facial features were starting to beco indistinguishable.

Suddenly, he sat up from the bed and glanced around, it was already 9:00 pm, and it turned out that he had been dreaming.

He wiped his forehead with his hand. It really was a nightmare, and he had sweated so much.

Liu Zheng took a towel from beside the bed and wiped himself off briefly.

Perhaps he had been a bit worn out these past two days, and the matter of this person had continually troubled him, which could well be the so-called "dayti thoughts lead to nightti dreams."

Just then, Liu Zheng suddenly heard what sounded like footsteps near the window.

But unlike before, the footsteps felt very fast this ti, and the rhythm seed urgent.

Upon hearing this, Liu Zheng imdiately beca alert. Could it be that a patient had really co here?

He quickly jumped out of bed, ready to go to the door, but at that mont, he only heard a click, and afterward, the shadow disappeared from his view.

Indeed, Liu Zheng saw it clearly—it was definitely a shadow. He quickly opened the room door to have a look.

There, he found a shadow running quickly ahead. Seeing this opportunity, Liu Zheng couldn’t let it slip by.

In the middle of the night, running beneath one’s window, he had to ask, what exactly did this person intend to do?

Liu Zheng never believed in ghosts or gods, considering himself an atheist; he didn’t think such things existed.

He ran wildly, shouting as he went.

"Stop, stop right there!"

When he arrived at the village entrance under the streetlight, he took a look, and the person’s attire seed familiar.

For a mont, it looked like soone he had seen sowhere before.

But indeed, whoever it was moved faster than him, and soon vanished into the dark night.

Liu Zheng could only stop in his tracks and gasp for air at this spot.

"Dr. Liu, what’s happened to you? Is there sothing wrong?"

The young man who had just returned to the village saw Liu Zheng gasping for breath and thought sothing might have happened.

"Just now, did you see soone run that way? You just ca from that direction, right?"

"Dr. Liu, I saw him, and, that person, he sohow looked a lot like the vagrant we saw in the car accident before, didn’t he?"

"No wonder, I just felt his clothing looked sowhat familiar, although it was ragged, but it made a deep impression on ."

"What did you say? A vagrant? Are you sure, positive it was him?"

"I can’t be completely sure, but based on his profile and the clothes he wore, as well as the length of his hair, I’m almost certain it was that vagrant."

"This is insane, wasn’t he already dead? And wasn’t he taken away by the ambulance?"

"Yeah, what on earth is going on? What, is there a ghost again? We haven’t even cleared up the old man’s case yet, and now there’s another ghost?"

"Let’s not make a big deal out of this, and maybe we just saw it wrong, right?"

"Impossible, and why would he run to our village in the dead of night?"

"Alright, stop thinking too much about it and go back to rest."

Actually, Liu Zheng didn’t want to discuss such matters with the villagers; he felt it would only lead them further astray.

With all these strange events happening one after another in this village, the word would spread, and it would be hard to keep it quiet.

"How could I possibly sleep now? Tonight, I’m afraid I won’t dare to sleep again. I think I really can’t stay in this village anymore."

He cursed under his breath and then hurried off toward his own yard.

Liu Zheng looked around; apart from the two of them, he didn’t see anyone else here.

After that, Liu Zheng quickly returned to his own clinic.

Sitting there, he carefully thought over these events again, sothing wasn’t right.

The car accident had happened just today, and the victim had already been taken away by the ambulance. Normally, the person would either be saved and treated in the hospital, or not saved at all.

No, he had to find out for sure. Fortunately, he had kept the contact information of Director Xiao.

He took out his phone and directly called Director Xiao’s number.

"Hello, Dr. Liu, why are you calling so late? Is there an urgent matter?"

"Director Xiao, I’m really sorry to disturb your rest."

"Hey, what rest? I’m on the night shift in the hospital tonight, I haven’t slept at all. I won’t be able to sleep until the latter half of the night anyway. Tell , Dr. Liu, what’s the matter?"

Because the head of the hospital had previously instructed everyone that if Liu Zheng needed help, they should do everything possible to assist him, and even if they couldn’t fulfill his request, they should try to find a way to accommodate him.

Therefore, Director Xiao’s attitude toward Dr. Liu on the phone was always very polite.
