Chapter 617: 561 “Cough cough…

Among the elves who ca with Carol to et Shane was an elf girl holding a Short Stick.

This girl, who was known to be inseparable from rica since their childhood, now looked at Shane with quite complex eyes, and all her previous sharpness when they first t had disappeared.

It was as if she had recognized so harsh reality and had sowhat cald down, becoming more silent and reserved.

Shane raised an eyebrow at the significant change in the elf girl’s deanor.

“So, you’re here too, Jelim.”

Shane spoke with a touch of Taunt in his voice.

At just that sentence, he successfully ignited her.

“My na is Genom!”

Genom glared at Shane.

“I know, Jelim,” Shane said with a grin, “What are you doing here? Playing patrol gas with the grown-ups?”

“It is not!” Genom said angrily, “This isn’t a ga!”

“Sure, sure,” Shane replied nonchalantly, “Just rember to go ho for dinner on ti, don’t get too carried away playing, Jelim.”

“You…” Genom’s blood surged with anger in an instant. The complexity and her reticence disappeared without a trace, returning to the impulsiveness she had shown at their first encounter.

Carol imdiately placed her hands on Genom’s shoulders but glared at Shane together with Genom.

“Stop Taunting Genom all the ti,” Carol said displeased, “Using Magic here is no joke, and even if you’re a guest, show so respect.”

Upon hearing this, Shane just shrugged his shoulders.

He didn’t an to Taunt Genom intentionally; he just saw the drastic change in rica’s childhood friend and wanted to tease her a bit.

Shane could probably guess why the girl had suddenly changed like this.

So, even for his little wife, Shane felt obliged to watch over her childhood friend.

But as it turned out, the girl was still as impulsive as before, with a temper as volatile as ever.

Yet such a reaction reassured Shane.

At least…

“I don’t have to worry about you being overly provoked and doing sothing reckless.”

All Shane’s words did was further fuel Genom’s anger.

“You don’t have to worry about ,” Genom huffed, “I’m not the type to grow jealous just because rica suddenly beca the Blessing of the Nature Goddess.”

This was for certain.

Even if Genom had been perplexed by it, even if she had thought for a mont that she was left behind, she had never envied rica.

However, the rica who used to need her protection had now overtaken her, becoming an indispensable talent for the entire Elf Clan, no longer the submissive and ordinary elf she once was. This contrast made it sowhat difficult for Genom to accept.

But difficult to accept as it was, Genom wouldn’t do anything rash because of it.

Because there wasn’t ti for that.

“Now that rica has beco different, I have to work hard so as not to be left behind. I don’t have the spare energy to entertain wild thoughts.”

Based on such a Reason, although Genom was still sowhat bewildered, she chose to take steps forward, doing what she could and ought to do right now.

Like, honing herself to beco stronger.

Carol, with her hand still on Genom’s shoulder, ntioned this as if by accident.

“Now, Genom has formally joined the Elf Corps and started receiving professional Magic training and combat instruction.”

Carol shared this with Shane, explaining why Genom was appearing here with the mbers of the Elf Corps.

This elf girl was on a mission from the Elf Corps, patrolling with Carol to maintain the security of the Elf Country during the peace festival.

“Joined the Elf Corps?” Shane asked, sowhat puzzled, “Isn’t it required to be at least Level Eighty to join? She’s not qualified yet, right?”

Genom’s Level was just over fifty, far from the Eighty mark.

By her current Level, technically, she should be unable to join the Elf Corps.

Shane stated this bluntly, nearly setting Genom off again.

Looking down on her, was he?

“I joined the Elf Corps as an intern mber!”

Genom’s face flushed with anger.

“Intern mber?”

Shane blinked.

“That’s for elves who haven’t t the requirents to join the Elf Corps but have the potential and desire to join,” said Carol with visible helplessness, “Any elf with a Level above fifty can apply to enter the Elf Corps as an intern, gaining the right to be trained together with official mbers.”

The advantage was that they could be trained for the necessary combat prowess by training with official mbers, even before they formally joined.

Moreover, those who went through formal training and instruction would assuredly enhance their abilities faster. Thus, many intern mbers in the Elf Corps aid to join officially.

Genom had simply beco one of them.

That’s why she could participate in patrol missions here with the people from the Elf Corps.

“I see.”

Understanding all this, Shane nodded and glanced at Genom once more.

She was still glaring at him as if she couldn’t swallow her ire, which made Shane both laugh and feel reassured.

It seed that the girl was indeed alright.

But…

“Let ask you,” Genom took a few deep breaths then casually asked, “Is rica really not coming back?”

Genom voiced such a question.

It was clear that she still cared greatly about rica.

No, it should be said that this elf girl’s obsession with rica seed to have reached a new height.

Shane thought for a mont and chose to tell the truth.

“She really can’t make it back.”

Shane answered frankly.

He had already discussed rica’s situation with those who needed to know.

Not only did the people around him know about it, but even Shane had sent a ssage to Sophie, informing her.

Sophie seed sowhat regretful, yet expressed understanding.

“Although the clansfolk definitely want to see rica, to see the long-missed Blessing of the Nature Goddess, as long as it’s not all bad, then it’s acceptable.”

After expressing this, Sophie communicated the news, letting everyone in the Elf Country know about the situation.

Given that, it was not at all surprising that Genom received the ssage.

“Is that so?” Genom accepted the fact but cast down his eyes, murmuring sowhat gloomily, “I really want to ask her how she managed to do all this.”

“Ahem ahem…” Shane coughed discreetly a couple of tis.

There was no way around it.

He certainly couldn’t tell the other party that rica was able to do all this because she had been “thorough” with him, right?

Otherwise, this crazy girl might just suffer a severe blow on the spot and burn everything in the Elf Country to ashes, or freeze it into ice.

Better to keep a low profile.

“She’s not gone for good.” Shane then diverted the topic and said, “She just needs to deal with so troubleso issues, and it won’t be long before that girl cos bouncing back, right?”

This statent couldn’t give Genom any comfort.

Because…

“By then, you all won’t be here, right?” Genom glanced at Shane with a listless tone, “rica will definitely go straight to find you, and not return to the Elf Country first.”

“Oh?” Shane was curious and asked, “How can you be so sure?”

“Of course, I’m sure.” Genom said self-mockingly, “Every elf who falls in love with a male of an alien race is like that, only having eyes for that man, wishing to stay by his side forever, even if it’s just watching him silently and contentedly from the shadows.”

Such was rica, definitely going to seek out Shane first.

Genom was certain of it.

“Uh…”

Shane didn’t know what to say.

“…”

Carol and the other elves also remained silent in response.

Luoqi rubbed her cheeks on the side, finding Genom’s remarks quite agreeable.

After all, if it were her, she would do the sa.

If soone had told Luoqi before that she would be so besotted with a man to the point of obsession, only having him in her eyes, wishing to stay by his side forever, then Luoqi would have scoffed at the idea.

But only when truly in love does one understand that many things are beyond control.

To put it in Shane’s words…

“If it weren’t for that, do you think those lodramatic soap operas and painfully dull K-dramas would manage to drag on for hundreds of episodes?”

Love is blind, and this saying isn’t just empty talk.

Only a bystander or soone unconcerned can remain detached, using so-called logic and rationality to view a relationship.

But those involved, even when they see clearly, often choose to dash into the flas like moths.

Although, Luoqi didn’t know what a K-drama was…

While everyone was at a loss for words, Genom suddenly spoke up.

“Let make it clear, I object to you being with rica.”

When he said this, Genom did not sound as impulsive and reckless as usual but spoke in a very calm tone.

“I believe you also know that romances between elves and males of an alien race only end in tragedy, without a happy ending, so I will object to your relationship.”

Genom turned away.

“In order to one day persuade rica, I’m going to improve myself.”

Genom set this goal for himself.

And then…

“One day, I will challenge you openly and defeat you, and not just make a farce of it like last ti.”

Leaving these words behind, Genom trotted off.

Carol and the others watched all this silently and then left together.

“People say that, you know.” Luoqi ca to Shane’s side and said with a teasing smile, “What do you plan to do?”

Shane rolled his eyes.

What to do?

Mixing fried eggs with cold sauce!

And defeat him? Oppose his relationship with rica?

“If she dares to co, I’ll dare to spank her until her butt blooms.”

Shane snorted that remark and left as well.

“Tsk.”

Luoqi pursed her lips but faithfully followed him.

The Peace Festival continued.
