Chapter 484: 467 “What was your response?

Shane knew little about Luoqi’s mother.

At first, Shane even thought Luoqi’s mother was no longer alive, otherwise, why hadn’t he ever t her?

Whether in his previous interactions with Luoqi, in formal encounters with the Royal Family, or even at their engagent party, the Princess had never appeared, which inevitably made Shane wonder.

It was only later that Shane learned that the Princess was ill, spending most of her ti in the Temple for rest and treatnt, almost leading a semi-monastic life.

That’s why he had never t this Princess.

Now, through Luoqi’s description, Shane discovered that the Princess’s health seed even worse than he had imagined, otherwise she would have attended her own daughter’s engagent party.

Should he and Luoqi go and et her?

Shane hesitated.

Luoqi seed to notice his hesitation.

“Are you afraid of eting my mother?” she asked.

Luoqi blinked her eyes, a smile playing around her lips.

“Ahem…” Shane coughed awkwardly, denying flatly, “What would I be afraid of?”

Would he be scared of eting his mother-in-law?

That’s a joke.

With his current standing, if he could impress even King Anxi, couldn’t he impress a Princess?

No way.

These were Shane’s thoughts when Luoqi’s faint voice ca through.

“Then, how about we go see my mother now?”

Luoqi’s words shifted Shane’s expression from awkward to unnatural.

“I just knew…”

Luoqi narrowed her eyes, her gaze a bit scornful, making Shane feel sowhat uneasy.

Yet, Shane was indeed a bit afraid to et the Princess.

The reason being,

“If I accidentally say sothing wrong and upset her with her frail health, wouldn’t it be a sin?”

Shane muttered.

This was his worry.

Unlike King Anxi, who had a clear stance, the Princess had almost renounced worldly affairs and took a completely hands-off approach to state affairs, very much a “Zen” attitude.

That ant, for Shane, this Princess was just Luoqi’s mother, his mother-in-law to be, undaunted by his achievents and unhindered by the power he wielded behind him—just an ordinary mother.

Shane could play around, joke with the universe outside, or be confident in front of King Anxi because of his various supports.

But those supports were useless when facing this Princess, compounded by her frail health and her apparent good relationship with Luoqi, Shane could already envision his lack of confidence when eting her.

In other words, this Princess held a greater standing as Luoqi’s relative, bringing a delayed sense of nervousness to Shane, the prospective son-in-law.

After all, it was his first ti getting married!

…Or so he believed?

At least, Shane didn’t think he had been married in his past life.

“You…” Luoqi said slightly annoyed, “Consider yourself lucky. Mother doesn’t obsess over which kind of man I married, nor does she focus too much on family background or capabilities, she only cares if you are the man I truly love. Thus, after I answered her, she agreed readily, without any objections or demands to et you.”

Hearing this, Shane unconsciously sighed in relief.

Good, no need to et the mother-in-law just yet.

Of course, the mother-in-law was soone he was bound to et sooner or later.

After all, he had been with her daughter, who had been nurtured for seventeen years; not greeting her would be sowhat improper.

But to et her now would be rather abrupt.

Let prepare myself first before properly visiting the mother-in-law.

Having made up his mind, Shane then grew curious about sothing Luoqi had just said.

“When your mother asked if you truly loved , how did you answer?”

Shane asked, curious.

“Umm…”

Luoqi’s face suddenly turned bright red.

Seeing this, Shane wasn’t surprised, instead, he echoed in a playful tone, “Co on, tell . How did you answer? Let your husband hear it.”

Luoqi hit Shane hard to express her embarrassnt.

Little did they know, their interaction was completely witnessed by other people around.

Seeing Shane and Luoqi playing around so carefreely, with Luoqi showing such a shy deanor, everyone was quite astounded.

“I never knew Princess Luoqi also had such a girlish side.”

Grandpa Yule was also surprised, but more so relieved.

Before that, many people believed that the union between Shane and Princess Luoqi was too hasty and lacked an emotional foundation altogether.

Even though Shane had so private dealings with Luoqi previously, the two had only known each other for a re few months.

In just a few short months, had the number one beauty of the Human Race been conquered?

Naturally, people couldn’t believe this.

Therefore, many people thought that Luoqi chose Shane because, firstly, the backing Shane had was indeed terrifying, and his own abilities were outstanding, standing out among many heroes; and secondly, the disaster revelation forced her to choose a husband, prompting her to regard Shane, with whom she had a good relationship, in a new light.

In such a situation, few believed there was any emotional attachnt between Shane and Luoqi.

Even at the engagent banquet, where Shane and Luoqi’s affectionate atmosphere was almost off the charts with Shane kissing Luoqi in front of everyone to assert his claim, many still refused to believe there was an emotional foundation, and instead felt it was all an act for show.

Yule had also harbored similar thoughts before.

It was unavoidable.

The more one could appreciate Luoqi’s excellence and witness her beauty, the more people would believe that she was a high-standing flower not easily swayed.

Yule was well aware of Luoqi’s position in the Kingdom and how much the Divine Race favored her; thus, he naturally assud that Luoqi’s choice of Shane was mostly not due to affection.

However, seeing the current situation, Yule knew he was wrong.

These two were indeed in love and had a strong emotional foundation, which was why they chose to be together.

Otherwise, if it had been anyone else, even if they could beco fiancés with Luoqi, they wouldn’t have been able to interact as naturally and casually as she did, nor would Luoqi exhibit such a demure deanor, surprising everyone.

“These two are the real deal, true love indeed…”

Yule felt sentintal and was also happy for Luoqi.

He could arguably be considered as having watched Luoqi grow up; Luoqi had close interactions with the Divine Race, naturally leading to frequent encounters with Yule.

Moreover, Yule had a good relationship with the Princess and people didn’t know, but privately, Luoqi would sotis even call him “Grandpa Yule.”

Given this, Yule was quite protective of Luoqi; perhaps not to the extent of treating her like his own granddaughter, but certainly as an adopted granddaughter.

Therefore, seeing Shane and Luoqi in mutual affection, it was impossible for Yule not to feel relieved and happy.

Consequently, Yule even looked at Shane with a softened, more affectionate gaze than before.

And at this ti, Shane, Luoqi, and Yule had all forgotten.

Inside the Temple, there wasn’t just Luoqi’s biological mother, but also another person who regarded her as her own, almost a motherly figure.

“You can’t bully my Luoqi! You bad egg!”

With such a statent, a figure as if having waited for a long mont, seeing Shane and Luoqi playfully bantering, finally couldn’t help rushing out from the inner part of the Temple.

Who could it be other than Lidas?

However, upon seeing Lidas rush out, both Shane and Luoqi instinctively shouted.

“Watch out!”

Their voices had just fallen when Lidas, charging forward, very smoothly tripped over her right foot with her left…

“Ah!”

A scream rang out.

“Thud!”

The sound of hitting the ground spread.

Lidas, who had successfully tripped herself, smashed her face onto the ground and continued sliding forward across the floor, ending up right in front of Shane and Luoqi.

“Ow… it hurts…”

The next second, Lidas’ crying reached everyone’s ears.

“Goddess Lidas…!?”

Yule panicked.

Not just Yule, all the Divine Practitioners around were thrown into a frenzy.

“Are… are you okay?”

Luoqi hurriedly stepped forward, helping Lidas up.

“I knew it…”

Shane, covering his face, couldn’t bear to look directly.

Goddess of Fate’s arrival was still so criticizable today.

“So… so I told you not to run so fast…”

Finally catching up, Anima sighed helplessly while looking at the tearful Lidas being supported by Luoqi, lanting like a mother unable to scold her foolish daughter.

“Greetings, Goddess Anima!”

All the female knights of the Holy Sword Knights who had co along finally reacted, kneeling on one knee, and bowing deeply.

“So you all really didn’t go back?”

While sighing helplessly, Shane approached Anima to make conversation.

“I intended to go back directly, but Lidas didn’t want to, so I had to stay,” Anima said with a wry smile, nodding at Shane and adding, “I heard that you are preparing to enter the Inner Sanctum today?”

“That’s right,” Shane responded without any evasion, saying, “It’s a rare opportunity to increase strength, you don’t pass up such chances.”

“Indeed,” Anima smiled warmly, saying, “It’s just that I didn’t expect you to enter the Inner Sanctum so soon.”
