Chapter 338: 337 The disturbed humans
At that ti, Shane was still unaware that his arrival in Cosmos had already reached the ears of the leader of the Sterling House First Knight Order.
“Young noble bearing the Royal Token?”
A handso knight with golden hair and blue eyes received the ssage from his subordinate and furrowed his brow.
Upon closer inspection, this man was indeed clad in the armor of the Royal Guard Knights.
It was none other than Lymco.
The Young Master Duke, who had rushed back with his father to deal with so odd affairs in their territory, had been assigned by his family to take charge of this matter here.
Surely, even Shane couldn’t have imagined that he would encounter Lymco in Cosmos, right?
Naturally, Lymco wouldn’t have expected it either.
Yet, the phrase “Young noble bearing the Royal Token” had captured Lymco’s full attention.
Because, as far as he knew, there was only one person who matched that description.
That person was also soone Lymco disliked, so it was natural for him to beco concerned.
Of course, Lymco wasn’t the only one here; there were two middle-aged n as well.
“Do you know this person, Lymco?”
Speaking was the taller and more stately of the two middle-aged n, who, judging by his attire, seed to be a knight, yet he exuded the aura of a military man and bore a slight resemblance to Barry and, to so extent, Lymco.
This was to be expected.
The man was the brother of the Sterling Family Head, Barry’s own brother, Lymco’s uncle, and also the second-in-command of the Sterling Family, having control over all the Sterling knight orders, the Knight General of Duke Sterling’s Domain—Yuri Sterling.
“Uncle,” Lymco turned his gaze towards Yuri, hesitated for a mont, and then said, “I’m not certain if the person who has arrived is soone I know, but as far as I’m aware, there’s currently only one young noble bearing the Royal Token in the Royal Capital.”
At this point, Lymco couldn’t help but reveal a hint of emotion in his tone.
Yuri was quick to notice.
“What’s the matter? Do you have a grudge against him?”
Yuri looked at his nephew.
It was then that the knight at Yuri’s side spoke up.
“Soone dares to offend Young Master Lymco?” The middle-aged knight’s eyes flashed fiercely as he gave a harsh laugh and said, “Shall I go and make so arrangents?”
This harsh middle-aged knight was nad Sona Regizlig, a count attached to Duke Sterling’s family and also the captain of Duke Sterling’s First Knight Order; he was a direct subordinate of Yuri’s.
Shane’s arrival in Cosmos was brought to their attention by him, and he was also the brother of Yuri’s most beloved wife, a mber of Yuri’s wife’s maternal family, which is why he dared to speak so bluntly here.
But, truth be told, Lymco really wanted to take such action.
If the young noble bearing the Royal Token was indeed Shane, he would be nothing but pleased.
Previously, Barry had tried to exploit Shane by luring him to Duke Sterling’s Domain and set traps there, but Shane had unceremoniously disrupted them, causing the Sterling Family to suffer a setback.
This ti, if Shane truly ca to his turf, Lymco naturally wanted to keep him there forever.
Fortuitously, there was a very ssy situation here now, and even if Shane were to be ensnared and killed here, the Sterling Family would have a hundred ways to escape bla.
It was evidently for this reason that Sona dared to claim he would make arrangents, showing no concern for the fact that their opponent held a Royal Token and had the backing of the Royal Family.
Yuri did not offer an opinion, seemingly also unconcerned about the Royal Family backing the other party.
Under these circumstances, Lymco would have ordinarily nodded in agreent without hesitation.
Yet, recalling the various deeds of Shane, Lymco felt compelled to ask first.
“Did he co alone, or is he accompanied by others?”
Lymco took on a very cautious deanor.
“He didn’t co alone,” Sona imdiately replied, “According to the guards’ report, he’s accompanied by a maid and two young girls.”
As he said this, a look of contempt flashed across Sona’s face.
The captain of the First Knight Order disdained the dandyish behavior of Shane coming to such a chaotic and dangerous place, knowing full well the conditions here, yet still bringing a maid and young girls with him.
“Does he think he’s here for a picnic?”
Sona’s voice was filled with scorn.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing his words, Lymco’s expression changed.
“What do the two young girls look like?”
Lymco hurriedly inquired with an urgent tone.
This took Yuri by surprise, and also stunned Sona.
“What’s the matter, Young Master Lymco?” Sona asked bewilderedly, “They’re just two young girls, aren’t they? Is there any need to be so anxious?”
“Not anxious?” Lymco sneered coldly, “If you’re not anxious, you might still not know who you’ve offended even as you lay dying.”
Such a statent shocked Sona.
“Clarify,” Yuri also furrowed his brow and said, “Is there sothing wrong with the two young girls?”
Lymco grimaced, then leaned over to Yuri’s ear and whispered a few words.
The next second, Yuri’s expression couldn’t help but change.
“Young Master Lymco, Knight General, what’s with the two young girls? Tell too!”
Seeing this scene, even the rather dense Sona sensed that sothing was amiss and urgently spoke up.
Yuri opened his mouth but chose not to divulge the information.
This matter simply couldn’t be spread around.
Otherwise, it could very likely cause a great upheaval and lead to the collapse of the current situation.
Thus, Yuri rely said,
“If the situation is really as Lymco describes, then this nobleman is soone we cannot afford to touch.”
Not only must they not act rashly, but they also had to serve him well.
Otherwise, the consequences would not be sothing that the re Sterling Family could endure.
Lymco was naturally aware of this too and fell silent, his eyes betraying a hint of regret.
It seed he truly wanted to keep Shane within this territory forever.
Sona, although unsure of what exactly had transpired, could see clearly that Yuri and Lymco seed to be wary of soone.
But he was still puzzled.
“Just two little girls, what’s there to be afraid of…”
This was Sona’s muttered remark to himself.
At this mont, Yuri and Lymco had already begun to discuss matters among themselves.
“I did not expect him to suddenly co here.”
Lymco was genuinely surprised.
“Could it be soone sent by the Royal Family?”
This was what Yuri believed.
“It’s unlikely. Father has already reported the situation here, and although the Kingdom is very concerned about this matter, due to the Empire’s pressure, they wouldn’t dare to intervene openly, lest it trigger the Empire’s sensitive nerves and lead them to suspect that the Kingdom is preparing to send troops to take advantage of the situation. Therefore, they have entrusted the Sterling Family with full authority to handle this affair.”
Lymco shook his head, indicating a negation.
“Then what is a noble young master doing here?”
Yuri seed unable to figure it out.
“Not sure.” Lymco naturally didn’t have an answer either and could only scoff, saying, “Perhaps he really is here for a tour.”
His words were laden with sarcasm.
Observing Lymco like this, Yuri thought to himself.
(This young noble and my nephew seem to have quite a grudge between them.)
Yuri recognized this fact.
After all, he had never before seen Lymco like this.
His nephew was highly talented and extraordinarily gifted, bearing the family’s great expectations, with aspirations that he would one day lead the Sterling Family back to the Royal Capital and reclaim all that their ancestors had lost.
From a young age, he focused solely on cultivating himself, and both in capability and character, he was impeccable, never before showing such clear disdain for any specific individual.
If it weren’t for the possibility that there was a really terrifying presence by the other’s side, Yuri wouldn’t mind helping his nephew out, to let him vent his anger.
No matter what, Lymco was to be the future Family Head of the Sterling Family, and as the second in command, Yuri would certainly help him whenever he could.
But with that individual by the other’s side, even if Yuri had all the courage in the world, he would not dare to be rash.
Rather, if that individual really ca to Cosmos, to their own domain, then the matter was undoubtedly very serious and must be treated with utmost care.
With this thought, Yuri stood up.
“Let’s go,” said Yuri. “We should pay a visit first.”
Hearing this, Lymco pondered for a mont and then stood up too.
Since it was very likely that the individual had accompanied Shane, it was impossible for them not to go pay their respects.
It was not only because the Sterling Family could not afford to offend or neglect the other party, but more importantly, if there was a chance to get on good terms with that individual, it would be a windfall for the Sterling Family.
Only Sona still looked puzzled.
“Is it really necessary?”
That was his thought.
In his eyes, although the other party indeed had the backing of the Royal Family, it was just the backing of the Royal Family, not an Imperial Family mber in person. As relatives of the im******l family that were the Dukes, Yuri, and Lymco did not need to be so cautious in their approach.
After all, Yuri was the second in command of the Duke’s family, and Lymco was to be the next Family Head, both high in status and power. If a mber of the Royal Family were to co in person, that would be understandable, but a re errand boy for the Royal Family?
There was no need for such caution from these two dignitaries!
However, Sona still had to respect the face of the Sect Master’s Family.
Even if his sister was Yuri’s most favored wife, it was not a reason for him to be disrespectful.
Rough yet ticulous, that was the First Knight Order’s Knight General.
But he would never have guessed just how significant the person he was about to et was.
…
anwhile, in another part of Cosmos, a Princess also received the news of Shane’s arrival.
“A young noble carrying a Royal Token?”
The Princess murmured to herself.
“Who could it be?”
Could it be that woman’s external representative?
“Indeed, there are claims that this woman has recently beco quite close with an Adventurer who beca a Viscount.”
Behind that Adventurer was a powerful figure from the Demon Clan, and he also had a Ta Dragon as a mount, causing quite a stir in the Ragna Empire.
The Royal Family of the Ragna Empire was even trying to figure out how they could poach this young noble to their side.
If the person who ca was the Adventurer ntioned in the rumors, then things would get interesting.
“I want to see for myself what kind of man can earn that woman’s favor,” said the Princess, recalling past events and biting her lip.
“No matter what, I refuse to lose.”
“I will surpass you one day.”
“Lusti Mitra.”
