Capítulo 1205: Chapter 225: No Reason (2/2)

The old man noticed Wang Anfeng’s gaze, his expression changed, and he was about to plead for rcy.

Wang Anfeng had already withdrawn his gaze, his expression calm, he drew a dagger from his waist, and then made a slight cut. The frightened child saw the dagger falling towards the old man, paused in surprise, and then suddenly, like an enraged young wolf, lunged at Wang Anfeng, grabbing his right hand and biting down viciously.

The old man exclaid in surprise, Wang Anfeng did not react as he thought to attack this child protecting the old man, just allowed him to bite his arm. It was only when the child’s mood cald down that he slowly said:

“If you want his wound to improve, do not hinder .”

The boy hesitated slightly, looked towards the old man, whose leg had a severe sword wound that, due to the harsh environnt and lack of treatnt, had festered, emitting a faint stench.

Wang Anfeng lifted the boy, placed him aside, squatted down and used the dagger to open the wound, forcing out the pus from the festering wound, frowning slightly as he looked around. The clothes on the old man and the child were unusable, while the clothes of the horse bandits were mostly soaked in blood.

After thinking about it, he simply tore off part of his own garnt, tied it a few inches above the wound, took out the golden sore dicine to apply to the old man, then placed it in the child’s hand, saying calmly:

“Apply the dicine daily during this ti.”

“Otherwise, this leg will be lost.”

In response, the child’s stomach suddenly made a noise; even though his face was muddy, he seed a bit embarrassed. Wang Anfeng paused in his movents, stood up, and went into the bandit tent, rummaging through pockets, finding so barely.

He drew out the dagger again, selecting pieces of at from the recently dead bandit’s mount. Turning to see the ashen faces of the old man and child, he paused and suddenly shouted to the child:

“Hey little fellow, co lend a hand.”

“I’ll handle the at, you fan the fire.”

“Old man, if you still have the strength, tidy up these bandits’ tents; there may be so food and water. Finding salt would be best, this horse at tastes quite ordinary.”

The old man paused, seemingly incredulous, but Wang Anfeng had already turned his head. Fearing to provoke this powerful martial artist, the old man nodded and, dragging his wound, began to slowly search.

Wang Anfeng, anwhile, found twigs, pierced the cleaned horse at, and slowly roasted it over the fire.

The child could not be of much help, so he squatted while blowing the fire, his face blackened with soot.

After a while, the place was gradually filled with the scent of roasting horse at, brown fat dripping onto the flas with a crackling sound, the intense aroma fragrant. Sprinkling a bit of salt and chili, coating the fatty skin, the sll intensified, becoming even richer.

The old man moved slowly, and by now had only prepared a little bit of cooked barely flour, sowhat fearful, and upon handing it over, noticed his hands were dirtied with soil, instinctively drawing back.

Wang Anfeng already reached out to take it, his palm grasping the old man’s hand before accepting the bag.

It wasn’t a solemn mont, just casual, like greeting neighbors, nodding slightly, with a soft, ‘Thank you.’

His tone was very plain and ordinary.

However, the old man’s body suddenly stiffened.

Opening his mouth, he suddenly felt his nose sting, tears sliding unbidden down his face that couldn’t be stopped for so reason.

The child reached out to grab the at, Wang Anfeng gently pushed away the child’s hand, took the water-filled pouch from the saddle, letting the child wash his hands and face, then handed over the food, lightly rubbing the child’s head, his fingers brushing over the scars on the child’s cheek, softly saying:

“You did very well; this is your reward for helping out just now.”

“Thank you.”

The old man was already sobbing aloud.

In the full month of darkness, amidst bandit knights who never once deed them worth notice, the first ti soone truly ant it, crying while expressing gratitude.

Wang Anfeng pressed his lips together, handed over the food, saying softly:

“Please eat, old man, tomorrow the sun will rise, and it will be a new day.”

The three sat cross-legged around the bonfire, amidst the place with cold winds and the sll of blood, the old man washed his hands and ate slowly. Through talking, Wang Anfeng learned the old man had set out from the border, intending to go to Balman Royal City, only to be robbed and brought here.

“What are you going to the royal city for?”

Wang Anfeng asked.

The old man swallowed the horse at, not very tasty, yet extrely delicious, said:

“I want to find my daughter.”

“More than a decade ago, soone passed through our village, my child, bringing water to at that ti, caught an official’s eye, saying she would be brought to the king as a maidservant…”

Wang Anfeng’s expression turned silent.

The old man’s expression beca agitated again, tears flowing as he said: “I was very poor, my wife left . At that ti, I thought, even if I leave my daughter, but if she can beco a maid for the king, wouldn’t that be much better than struggling with ? So I agreed…”

“My child, she nded clothes for all night before leaving.”

“Afterwards, afterwards there was no news, I thought perhaps she had changed, having seen wealth, didn’t want to see her poor father. I felt both resentful and slightly glad.”

“It was only recently, only recently I learned, my daughter, my daughter had died, died in the royal city, more than ten years ago. If not for that foreign person killing the king, I wouldn’t even have known this…”

“Until I died, I thought, my decision back then had given my child a better life… sob.”

“What a useless father I am…”

The old man raised his hand to cover his face, sobbing unstoppably.

Wang Anfeng remained silent for a while, looking into the distance, said:

“Here, the Balman Royal City is still very far away… Do you plan to walk there on foot?”

The old man wiped his tears, said:

“I have not yet reached the age where I am going to die, I can still walk it now.”

“After a few years, I won’t be able to go anymore, I want to see my daughter, I want to bring her ho…”

The boy beside shouted aloud:

“I’ll accompany Grandpa Amu too.”

Wang Anfeng slowly threw matches into the fire, dazed.

Due to the intense emotion, the old man quickly fell into a deep sleep, the boy leaned close to the fire, and suddenly said: “Uncle, you’ve been to Balman Royal City, haven’t you? I just noticed.”

“Have you co across this kind of matter too…”

Wang Anfeng said:

“Yes.”

“Unfortunately, I was just a passerby.”

“I couldn’t save anything.”

The child didn’t quite understand but nodded, drew with a stick on the ground, suddenly muttered:

“Then why did you save us just now?”

“That person who whipped said we were untouchables, needing justice to be helped, couldn’t approach them, also said sothing about gold, reputation, that reputation must be sothing really good.”

Wang Anfeng looked at the flas, said:

“Does one need a reason to save another person?”

“Rest well, tomorrow I will leave.”

“The road ahead is very safe, you can use the bandits’ horses, you will quickly reach the nearest city, I will be here tonight, you can have a good night’s sleep.”

The voice paused briefly, as if assuring the child, chuckling softly:

“Absolutely safe.”

“Today is protected by the world’s greatest, you know…”

The boy rolled his eyes at him, said: “Don’t believe you.”

“There are so many martial artists in the world!”

“But… to , you’re definitely the best, greatest martial artist!”

Wang Anfeng’s movents paused slightly.

Then he continued calmly, looking after the campfire.
