The Tianbei Seafood Market was located within the area overseen by the Heavenly King Group, and it was not too far away.

In just a few minutes, Li Jing and the others had taken to the skies and reached their destination.

Before they even landed, they spotted a shop in the middle of the market with a half-open roll-up door cordoned off with caution tape. Outside the tape, a crowd of onlookers of gathered, craning their necks to get a peek inside the shop.

Seeing the crowd below from the sky, Li Jing sighed softly.

"Ah, it seems there are always people who enjoy a spectacle wherever they go."

As he sighed, he turned to look at Lu Yangcheng and Yi Xiuzhu.

"The area is already cordoned off, which ans the patrol has been here. I will go into the shop to see if I can be of any help. Yang Cheng, you and Xiuzhu should maintain order outside. The ground patrol tends to be a bit slow, so we may have to wait for a while."

"Understood."

Lu Yangcheng answered.

Yi Xiuzhu also nodded.

With Li Jing as their leader, the two naturally listened to his orders, especially when it ca to serious work matters.

Once they had landed, Lu Yangcheng and Yi Xiuzhu headed to both sides of the tape, trying to convince the gathered crowd to disperse.

Of course, it was not possible to convince the curious older people to leave with just a few words.

However, at least now there was soone to maintain order at the scene.

Upon seeing the badges of the Assistant Inspectors on their uniforms, the crowd which previously couldn’t wait to get a closer look, backed off a little.

Li Jing walked into the shop on his own.

Upon entering, he froze for a mont.

At that mont, there were a man and woman from the patrol in conversation in front of an inner door.

One of them was amazingly Chen Yuran.

He also recognized the other officer.

It was Luo Zhize, the male patrol officer who had been with Chen Yuran at the Agricultural Market the previous night.

Upon seeing Li Jing, Chen Yuran wore a charming smile.

"Surprised to see ?"

?

Luo Zhize reflexively turned his head and then raised an eyebrow.

"It’s you?"

"Officer Luo, we et again."

Li Jing greeted with a friendly smile.

Seeing this, Luo Zhize nodded in response, feeling curious.

"How did you beco an Assistant Inspector? When did this happen?"

Chen Yuran spoke before Li Jing could respond.

"Just a couple of days after the incident at the Agricultural Market, he applied for the position of Assistant Inspector. He’s now part of the patrol team in the Assistant Inspector Departnt, responsible for this area where the Tianbei Seafood Market is. When we called for assistance from the Assistant Inspectors upon arriving at the scene, I guessed he would be the first to arrive."

"Oh, this..."

Luo Zhize blinked, looking a bit bewildered.

The incident at the Agricultural Market had not occurred long ago.

Of course, he rembered Li Jing, and his impression of him was rather deep.

eting him at a cri scene was truly unexpected.

So the question was...

Why was Chen Yuran behaving as if she was very familiar with Li Jing, even knowing when he had applied for the position of Assistant Inspector?

Seeing her colleague looking confused, Chen Yuran didn’t feel the need to explain too much.

Privately, she was indeed quite casual.

But at work, she was a strong and practical woman.

Looking at Li Jing, Chen Yuran asked,

"Has anyone else from the Assistant Inspector Departnt arrived?"

"Two of my colleagues from the sa team are outside maintaining order. Do you need to call them in?"

Li Jing replied.

"No need for now, we’re also waiting for the forensics team."

Chen Yuran said, adding,

"The Assistant Inspectors in charge of ground duties will take a while to arrive, it would be better if your colleagues could maintain order outside to prevent any disturbances."

"Alright."

Li Jing walked further into the shop, asking,

"What’s the situation here?"

"At the mont, we’re not certain."

Chen Yuran said this, then noticing Li Jing moving closer, she lowered her voice and said,

"The scene inside is quite grisly, you should prepare yourself."

As she spoke, she stepped back slightly.

Li Jing then got a clear view of the scene inside the shop behind the door, he furrowed his brows slightly.

Behind the door was a cold storage room.

From where he stood by the door, he could already see seven or eight shriveled bodies lying on the cold storage floor.

A mummy, it was the first ti Li Jing had seen one.

But he had watched plenty of grueso films and television shows before he crossed over.

Among them, shows about forensic detectives were his favorite.

Was there an episode where they didn’t pull out a gruesoly murdered body or two?

Seeing the scene before him, he felt no physical discomfort.

If he were to seriously consider a career as a patrol officer, an experience like this wouldn’t be enough to dissuade him.

But seeing seven or eight mummified bodies in front of him made him question what was going on.

What caused these bodies to mummify to such a degree?

Monsters?

Human cultivators?

Chen Yuran noticed that Li Jing didn’t change his expression at the sight of so many bodies. He had good psychological quality and said calmly.

"The Tianbei Seafood Market shut down the day the monster incidents increased, which was nine days ago. Luo Zhize and I just spoke with the owner of the neighboring shop. The shop was still operating normally nine days ago, and there didn’t appear to be anything strange. Just within nine days, even if soone had died in the shop, they wouldn’t have beco so mummified."

Watching Chen Yuran explain the cri scene information for Li Jing, Luo Zhize added his own insight.

"We won’t exactly know the cause of their deaths until the Forensics Departnt arrives. Clearly, this is not only a murder scene but also a body dumping site."

Body dumping site?

Li Jing was slightly stunned, then understood.

This seafood shop was small.

At most, it could be run by two or three people.

There were fourteen mummified bodies in the cooler now, that was clearly not right.

As the three of them were talking, a beautiful woman in a patrol uniform walked through the front door.

Upon seeing her, the eyes of Chen Yuran and Luo Zhize lit up.

"Sister Qiu-ci, why did you co yourself?"

Chen Yuran said.

"Everyone else in the departnt is busy, if I don’t co, who will?"

The beautiful woman smiled, glanced at Li Jing and gave a friendly nod before walking directly into the cooler.

Seeing this, Luo Zhize quickly followed behind.

Chen Yuran then whispered to Li Jing.

"This is Chief Yang Qiu-ci of the Forensics Departnt of the North City Patrol Branch. I need to address her as sister, be a bit careful when you speak."

"Oh."

Li Jing nodded subconsciously, then realized sothing.

Chen Yuran needed to call soone sister, what did that have to do with him?

Before he could figure it out, Chen Yuran had already left him and entered the cooler.

Thinking there wasn’t much to figure out, Li Jing promptly followed, curiously glancing at Yang Qiu-ci’s back.

Yang Qiu-ci, who only looked a few years older than Chen Yuran, was already a departnt head - undeniably a big shot.

...

Upon entering the cooler.

Yang Qiu-ci stopped in front of the mummy closest to the door, took out a pair of gloves, put them on, crouched down and touched the mummy’s chest, then closed her eyes.

?

Li Jing frowned.

What was she doing?

"Spiritual Sensing, a common magic skill used by the Forensics Departnt. It can sense whether there is Spiritual Qi inside a body by touching it. Ordinary people can neither learn nor co in contact with this skill; only those studying forensic-related subjects in university can do so. To officially use it at work and ensure no misjudgnts, one must train to a high level."

Chen Yuran kindly explained for him.

Before the words had fully fallen, Yang Qiu-ci stood up and moved to another mummy, repeating her actions from before. Afterward, she turned her head to look at them.

"The Spiritual Qi inside the bodies is completely drained. This is initially determined as the main cause of death."

As she spoke, she took out a scalpel.

"Zhize, co and help."

"Alright."

Luo Zhize answered, took out a pair of gloves and ca forward.

Yang Qiu-ci promptly made an incision, cutting open the mummy’s chest.

Without her needing to say anything, Luo Zhize gently pressed on the mummy’s chest, opening it up.

Upon opening, both of their faces changed.

Inside the mummy, there were no internal organs.

Seeing nothing inside the mummy’s chest cavity, Chen Yuran also revealed a serious expression.

Li Jing stood on the side watching, confused.

No internal organs inside the mummy’s chest cavity ant there was definitely a problem.

So where was the problem?

Could soone explain?

While he was still dumbfounded, Chen Yuran reached for his earpiece.

"Headquarters, the situation at Tianbei Seafood Market is quite serious and we need reinforcent. From what we can see at present, it can be determined that the cri was committed by an Evil Cultivator, it’s likely related to the Evil Cultivator’s case half a year ago."
