When you need books, you realize you have too few; he didn’t have much literary accumulation in this aspect normally. He forced himself to keep his eyes open and searched various platforms for half a day, but ultimately couldn’t hold out any longer.

He lay flat on the bed, first covering himself with the blanket, then placing the talisman paper on his forehead. It was very much like a sealed zombie in so movies.

He didn’t expect this thing would be far more effective than he imagined.

A dreamless night.

Wen Xu surprisingly slept until past eight in the morning the next day.

It was a situation he hadn’t experienced in nearly ten years.

He felt invigorated and relaxed all over, just like the feeling people describe as ’fully rested’.

He took off the talisman paper from his forehead and was surprised to find that the red mark on it had faded sowhat.

Wen Xu guessed that it probably wasn’t a ’permanent’ item. He estimated that once its color completely faded, it would no longer affect his sleep.

Thinking this, he didn’t feel any unnecessary emotions.

He simply got up, put the talisman paper away, tidied up, and prepared to go to work.

However, Wen Xu thought he could at least rely on this thing to get a few days of respite, but he wasn’t expecting strange events to occur frequently as soon as he left the neighborhood.

In just ten minutes’ distance, due to seeing a strange little girl, he almost had a car accident.

If not for the car’s ergency brake function kicking in, he might already be seeing his colleagues now.

Parking the car by the roadside, Wen Xu rubbed his brow helplessly. Although the face didn’t match at all, he just knew that the girl haunting him was the one burned to death at the sanatorium.

Just like always.

Only when this case is solved and justice is served to the wrongfully dead can he return to normal.

Upon reaching the police departnt, he directly went to Zhou Zhicheng’s office to inquire about the case progress.

Only to be told that the investigation had reached a deadlock.

The reason being the girl’s face had been burned beyond recognition, and the fragnts of clothing were rely common cotton fabric. There was nothing on her entire body that could prove her identity.

Zhou Zhicheng said, "What I can do now is to compare the deceased’s identity with missing children reported over the years."

"But you know, this is like looking for a needle in a haystack."

Firstly, it’s uncertain whether the child ran away from ho, when they went missing, and whether the parents ever reported it to the police.

Or perhaps she was four years old at the ti of disappearance, but years have passed now, making her age and height unlikely to match.

"What about the surveillance in that vicinity?" Wen Xu put back the printed information on the table.

Although aware that if anything useful was found in the surveillance, Zhou Zhicheng would have told him, he was still unwilling to give up and wanted to ask.

"All destroyed."

He couldn’t quite understand the perpetrator in this case.

The thod wasn’t sophisticated, even in so aspects could be called primitive. But sohow they were sensitive to key points, making it impossible for them to find clues, as if highly skilled in cri.

After speaking, Zhou Zhicheng furtively glanced around the office to see if anyone was watching them.

Seeing everyone busy with their own tasks and no one paying attention to them, Zhou Zhicheng further added, "Actually, I plan to consider finding Mu Yunchu if we can’t find other useful clues by tomorrow."

Wen Xu subtly raised an eyebrow.

Seeing his expression, he couldn’t help but say, "Captain Zhou."

"Hmm?" Zhou Zhicheng responded instinctively.

"I think the matter of seeking Mu Yunchu’s help is no longer a secret." He paused, putting his hands in his pockets, "Everyone in the police departnt should know."

"Ah?" The docunt in Zhou Zhicheng’s hand dropped onto the table with a ’thud’.

He blinked, feeling he was losing face.

Unwillingly asked, "Really?"

Wen Xu: "Really."

Ignoring Zhou Zhicheng rubbing his head and saying things like how he had lost face. But his words did give Wen Xu a bit of a reminder.

...

Mu Yunchu was packing her backpack, while beside her, Li Shang, seeing there was an opportunity to go out again, was very enthusiastic.

Only Ye Zhixia seed sowhat unhappy.

Li Shang: "So you’ve found out where that little boy was taken?"

Mu Yunchu responded with a ’hmm’.

Emotions rolled in her eyes, with barely hidden anger visible.

Li Shang stuck out her tongue.

She thought: Regardless of who the opposing party was, they wouldn’t end well.

"Then I’ll book the ticket now."

Staying with Mu Yunchu for a long ti, she had long figured out anything related to phones.

Watching the two busy with their tasks, even the drought ghost was busy doing sit-ups with its small body, leaving him seemingly the most idle in the courtyard.

Ye Zhixia originally wanted to ask if he could go along but hesitated considering his own abilities.

So he could only sit in front of the computer, gazing at the few people.

Until there was a knock on the shop’s door.

"Hmm?" Li Shang stopped as she was choosing a seat, puzzled on how to input an ID number, she lifted her head upon hearing the sound, "A custor?"

Upon entering the shop, she found it was Wen Xu.

"dical Examiner Wen?"

Though Li Shang didn’t like Wen Xu’s aloof personality, his good looks compensated, making her feel better seeing him here.

"Are you here to see Little Chuchu?"

After entering the house, Wen Xu first took a look at the things inside, then responded as soon as he heard soone speaking to him. Seeing Li Shang, he nodded.

Then he was led to the backyard.

Qinghe’s winter wasn’t as cold as other provinces. Especially at noon, the sunny courtyard was warr than the room without heating.

There was more than one person in the backyard, but he imdiately spotted the woman proudly sitting on the stone chair.

The sunlight shone behind her, casting a golden glow from her hair to her back.

Wen Xu hesitated noticeably before walking over.

Mu Yunchu didn’t expect him to co.

As she lifted her head to greet him, she suddenly noticed a subtle yet vastly different change in Wen Xu from yesterday.

She casually sipped the tea beside the table, "dical Examiner Wen slept well last night."

Her tone was certain.

Whether soone rested well, their entire deanor would be completely different.

"I suppose you’re not here for talismans to improve your sleep today."

Granted, Wen Xu was really tempted by those talismans.

But he understood that for him right now, that was just a temporary fix.

So after hesitating for two seconds, he still straightforwardly stated his true purpose.

"I want to know clues about the arson case’s perpetrator." He paused, seemingly recalling sothing, his black eyes slightly moved, "Or... you could directly take to find them."

Wen Xu aningfully looked at the phone in Li Shang’s hand, as if knowing where they were about to go.
