Mu Yunchu was led into the bedroom by Yang Ying, who discreetly closed the bedroom door.
She had the other lie down on her recently purchased beauty bed.
"Although you’re still young, if you can’t use this yourself, it’s perfect to give to an elder in the family or a sister."
Turning around, she picked up a pile of bottles and jars, subtly guiding Mu Yunchu to talk about her family matters.
"How many people are in your family?"
"Do you have any siblings?"
"At your age, you should have a boyfriend by now, right?"
...
They all sounded like the casual family questions soone her age might ask, but it always gave Mu Yunchu the illusion that Yang Ying wanted to understand her social relationships.
Unfortunately, although Mu Yunchu seed gentle and approachable, she spoke with guarded precision. From the conversation, not much of the information Yang Ying wanted was obtained.
Yet, Yang Ying wasn’t discouraged.
For now, no matter how tight-lipped Mu Yunchu was, once her candle was lit, Mu Yunchu would tell everything.
She glanced at the red candle she had taken out from the cabinet.
"Mind if I light so incense?"
With that, she didn’t intend to give Mu Yunchu a chance to respond, striking a match on her own.
With a ’crackle’, the room’s temperature seed to beco a bit scorching.
She walked back behind Mu Yunchu. With fingers painted in bright red, she gently touched Mu Yunchu’s face.
"Not even wearing makeup..."
"Ah, youth is wonderful."
"Such good skin..."
Her voice was light and delicate, as if she was afraid of startling Mu Yunchu.
Although it was still dayti, she had drawn the curtains, dimming the room noticeably more than usual, even if it couldn’t completely block out the sunlight.
The candlelight flickered, casting Yang Ying’s shadow on the wall.
Behind her, sothing seed to be moving.
...
Outside the door.
Li Shang ate more heartily than anyone else, chopsticks moving with each second, almost without pause.
Beside her, Luan Huacheng seed a bit unwilling to eat.
His gaze repeatedly fell on the tightly closed bedroom door, "Aren’t you worried that sothing might happen to Mu Yunchu?"
But who he was truly afraid of sothing happening to, the others couldn’t tell.
"What’s there to worry about?"
Luan Huacheng opened his mouth.
"Didn’t you say my wife has issues?"
Thinking about it, his mood inevitably beca a little irritable.
Yet, after these people ca here, it was as if nothing had happened.
They even seed to be getting along... quite well?
Involuntarily, he recalled the image of his wife and Mu Yunchu entering the room one after the other.
Should be getting along well.
Li Shang’s cheeks had unknowingly bulged with food. Not only did she eat by herself, but she would also secretly feed a bite to the drought demon beside her when Luan Huacheng wasn’t looking.
At first, it was just a trial.
Unexpectedly, the creature could not only eat snacks but also human food.
So, her attention wasn’t much on Mu Yunchu.
Because if she pulled back late, she would get nipped by the drought demon.
Realizing what Luan Huacheng was thinking from his question, she paused her action.
"There indeed is a problem."
"Because strictly speaking, she’s no longer your wife now."
Luan Huacheng: !
Various guesses ca to his mind, but they couldn’t form a clear line of thought.
"What does this... an?"
Li Shang swallowed the last piece of at and calmly placed her chopsticks on the table.
"The ti should be about right."
Luan Huacheng asked, "What ti?"
Li Shang’s eyes surveyed the surroundings, "Do you have anything you’re very afraid might break at ho?"
Luan Huacheng: ?
This just been said, and a loud noise from inside the house grabbed both their attention.
The two quickly stood up, ran to the bedroom door, reached out to gently pull the handle, only to catch it dangling loose.
The door didn’t budge an inch, though the handle appeared unbroken in their hand.
"This..."
In the next second, the door was no more.
It fell straight inside.
Utterly without warning.
Splinters flew, and dust filled the room.
At the sa ti, the scene inside appeared before the two of them.
Mu Yunchu and Yang Ying stood facing each other, the latter with her fingers ford into claws, pointing straight at the forr’s neck but was lightly blocked by the latter’s reverse hand.
The latter gritted her teeth, face full of ferocity, yet the forr appeared to handle it with ease.
"I didn’t expect, little brat, that you’re actually no ordinary person."
She squinted her eyes.
Suddenly withdrawing her strength, she stepped back with a giant leap.
The sharp, high-pitched voice was completely different from earlier.
Especially to Luan Huacheng.
Clearly, it was the person he had lived with for decades standing before him, but seeing this, he found it bizarre to an extre.
Out of the corner of his eye, sothing seed to be moving, and he reflexively looked over, his heart nearly stopping from fright.
A huge, red tail extended from behind Yang Ying, over a ter in length, swaying continuously in the air.
His right hand unconsciously climbed onto the nearby wall, feeling that his legs were quite weak at that mont.
Otherwise, he wasn’t sure when he might faint.
His wife turned out not to be human?
Yang Ying’s gaze grew sharper, "But that won’t do you any good!"
In her view, this young human was, no matter what, nowhere near her several centuries of cultivation.
Yelling, Yang Ying fiercely crouched her body and lunged at Mu Yunchu like an arrow off the string, her claws glinting with sharpness, bringing forth a gust of fishy wind.
The bedroom wasn’t exactly spacious, so in the blink of an eye, she was already in front of Mu Yunchu.
However, the latter remained unhurried, arching an elegant eyebrow with a curve at the corner of her lips.
She lightly sidestepped, easily dodging the opponent’s attack.
Soon after, Mu Yunchu’s fingers swiftly sliced through the air, from which erged golden runes that intertwined into an impenetrable web in the air, aiming to enshroud Yang Ying.
Though unaware of Mu Yunchu’s strength, an animal’s instinct warned her never to touch it.
But, as she ducked around, she found there was almost no room left for her escape.
Until, inadvertently, she touched one of the runes, with a burning pain spreading instantly from her thigh to her whole body, prompting a scream of terror as she genuinely sensed fear.
The fiery red tail behind her frantically whipped about, striving to break free from this web of runes, only to realize that all was in vain.
If regretting, she wouldn’t have lingered here greedily because of the other’s face... The task ’Benefactor’ instructed was completed, after all.
But now, words were too late, at least needed to escape first.
Turning her eyes, she pitifully looked at Luan Huacheng beside her.
"Help , I’ve been your wife for decades, are you just going to watch as they bully ?"
Facing her gaze, Luan Huacheng’s mind went blank, and hardly aware of what he did next.
In others’ sight, his eyes montarily glowed red, then he desperately charged forward, breaking open the web.
An opening erged.
Seizing the mont, Yang Ying took out the Instant Body Talisman given by ’Benefactor’, hurriedly activating it, vanishing from sight.
Leaving only Yang Ying’s body laying limp on the ground.
Before leaving, that person didn’t forget to arch a brow at Mu Yunchu mockingly.
"Bye-bye, pretty girl."
Mu Yunchu seemingly was not flustered but focused on the direction she left.
Just then, an extraordinarily swift shadow shot out beside her.
