[Vol. 6] Chapter 96: Suppression and Destruction
Peach Blossom Sage finally stood up after looking at the wound on her left arm, her gaze turning toward the Mole King and the [Apothecary] standing beside him. For the first ti, a deep anger and killing intent appeared on her noble and delicate face.
“You… dare to lay a hand on it! You people from the [Yokai Controlling Sect], [Apothecary]! I will crush your bones into ashes!!!”
The [Apothecary] smiled but said nothing, and it was the Mole King, seemingly controlled by the [Yokai Controlling Sect], who responded instead.
“You’re mistaken. I volunteered to cooperate with them… Mother.”
“…What?”
“Eh? Eh?”
Just as Little Mole almost blurted out and revealed the group’s presence with an exclamation, the Mole King who had attacked and wounded the Peach Blossom Sage, stepped forward.
“Mother, do you rember this?”
From its large sleeve, it pulled out a branch, on which several pink peach blossoms were in full bloom. It seed to have been directly broken off from a larger plant.
“You…”
The Mole King paid no attention to the Sage’s hesitation, and in a deep voice, it continued.
“I know you’ve always looked down on Father, considering your past relationship with him sothing shaful, which is why you banished him from Peach Blossom Peak and placed restrictions to prevent his return…”
“I understand why you did this as the peak master of Peach Blossom Peak. Father never held a grudge. Before his unexpected death, he repeatedly told not to seek revenge or bla you, saying you had already been kind enough to him… I understand all of that.”
At this point, the Mole King beca agitated.
“But! But why are you so heartless?! Why did you send the Peach Blossom Guards to destroy Father’s spirit shrine, trying to take away the last connection between us? Do you think Father’s centuries of good deeds, helping others and doing good in the world, don’t deserve the title of [Nine-Pattern Earth Spirit Great Sage]?”
“If you want to take it back, it’s fine. I’ll personally bring this item to the mountain and request an audience. As long as you say a word to in person, I’ll naturally return it without ntioning our relationship again. What’s so difficult about that?”
“But… But it’s been over three hundred years! To get an answer, I’ve climbed Peach Blossom Peak countless tis, enduring the freezing cold, waiting in the wind and snow for your summons.”
“And you? You’ve never seen ! You’ve never been willing to et ! You won’t even give an answer!”
“Why?! Why treat us like this?! What did Father and I do wrong?!”
Faced with the agitated Mole King, Peach Blossom Sage looked troubled, as if she wanted to say sothing but stopped herself.
“Child, you don’t understand, I…”
“I really don’t understand! That’s why I need an answer! Since you refuse to et with no matter what, I’ll find another way! If soft asures don’t work, then I’ll use force!”
“But you are the exalted Peach Blossom Sage, with powers reaching the heavens. How could a re Mole Spirit like offend you? Since that’s the case, I have no choice but to cooperate with outsiders, right?”
“You’ve forced into this! You’ve gone too far, even a desperate rat will bite!”
“……”
Peach Blossom Sage fell silent. After a mont, she looked up at the sky and forced a bitter smile.
“Heh… Hehehe… Fate is determined by the heavens, and it’s hard to defy… I’ve exhausted myself, severing emotions and love, yet in the end, I’ve still arrived at this conclusion… It was my fault.”
The blue-clad mbers of the [Yokai Controlling Sect] advanced step by step, moving closer to the solitary figure in the spirit spring’s central pavilion.
As the true trump card, the Mole King’s dagger was no simple weapon. Even just guessing, one could tell that it was sared with the [Apothecary]’s specially concocted poison, made specifically to deal with a powerful being like Peach Blossom Sage.
They were getting closer. Closer.
The enemy stepped across the scattered stone paths in the spirit pond, reaching the outside of the pavilion.
It seed that they had given up on resisting. The Peach Blossom Sage no longer moved the formation disk beside her, only shaking her head.
“You were right about everything… Miss Hen, I owe you a life.”
“Co forth.”
Suddenly, there was a loud noise—*Boom boom boom boom boom boom boom!* It was as if countless thunderbolts exploded underwater. The once calm and still spirit pond suddenly erupted into towering waves, surging with imnse force. From above, at the peak of the mountain, a massive black dragon, over thirty ters long, shot out from the clouds!
Its arrogant and furious presence echoed through the heavens.
[Hahaha! Tao Mu, Tao Mu, if I had known this day would co, why bother with all that in the first place?! You were too obsessed with perfection!]
“Roar!!!”
The black dragon spiraled down around the stone pavilion, opening its giant mouth and releasing a breath that surged like a tsunami!
“Ughhh!!”
“What’s happening?! What is this thing?!”
The breath passed through everything, turning both the mbers of the [Yokai Controlling Sect] and the beasts they controlled into dust. Those remaining quickly retreated in fear. In the blink of an eye, the dozen or so figures closest to the pavilion were annihilated!
But the changes didn’t stop there.
“You [Yokai Controlling Sect], die!!”
*Crack! Crack crack crack!*
Suddenly, a powerful roar like the sound of a giant bell echoed from the sky. Several lightning bolts crashed down with a deafening thunder, striking the most densely packed areas of the [Yokai Controlling Sect]’s forces, turning everything there into charred remains!
“Not good, it’s an ambush! Retreat! Quickly, retreat!!!”
The sudden and powerful attack threw the blue-clad mbers into disarray. They hastily retreated in panic, trying to escape the empty mountaintop platform and avoid the black dragon and the thunderous bombardnt of divine punishnt.
The crowd surged toward the only exit, where Violet and the others were.
Naturally, Ling Feng wouldn’t miss this perfect opportunity for a pincer attack.
“Now’s our chance, Bai’er! Mr. Murong!”
“Understood!”
“Been waiting for this!”
Flying swords shot into the air, instantly decapitating several unprepared mbers of the [Yokai Controlling Sect]. Murong Yun transford into a shadow, and with a few swift strikes, his overwhelming power sent the frontmost enemies flying like cannonballs, knocking down a large portion of the crowd behind them.
“Damn! There’s an ambush here too! No matter, brothers, kill them! Fight back! Kill them!!!”
“Kill!!!”
The cries of battle and the clash of weapons filled the air. Bai’er and Murong Yun fearlessly charged into the chaotic enemy ranks, fighting fiercely against the retreating [Yokai Controlling Sect] mbers.
“Violet, I’m going to check on the Peach Blossom Sage’s condition. You handle things here!”
“Oh!”
Violet responded with high spirits, watching as Ling Feng used a spirit talisman to rise into the air. But her gaze shifted to the cat-girl beside her, who, like Little Mole, was considered a non-combatant.
“By the way, who are those two? They don’t seem to be from Peach Blossom Peak?”
Xiao Kong nodded, stood up, and brushed through her slightly ssy black hair with her cute cat paws.
“They’re the leaders of Black Cloud Peak and Thunderstrike Peak—Black Cloud Sage and Thunder Strike Sage. They’ve always been allies of Tao Mu. They fought together during the battle against the [Taotie] a few years ago. It looks like Tao Mu knew there would be an attack and brought them in to help… really, always worrying us.”
“Oh… I see. This is what they call ‘luring the snake out of its hole,’ right?”
A flash of light appeared, and a long, white, holy staff materialized in the black-haired girl’s hand. With a casual swipe, a golden curtain fell, completely blocking the only exit of the platform, which was just a few ters wide.
“Alright, the show’s over. Ti to get to the real business now~”
