[Vol. 6] Chapter 60: Nowhere to be Found at the End of the World, Only Sighs in the Mortal Realm

Violet casually scanned the crowd, but she didn’t spot Murong Yun, Ling Feng, or Bai’er.

However, for such a grand and prominent event, they must have heard the news by now. They were likely on their way here or had already arrived, though perhaps scattered in different corners of the ship. Violet, being smaller in stature, simply had poor visibility in such a crowded setting.

There was no need to rush to find them. It was better to see what this [Music Fairy Flower Show] was all about first.

After waiting for about ten minutes, the crowd around her grew larger, finally reaching a near-saturation point. Violet estimated that there were close to a thousand people, most of the passengers aboard the ship, it seed.

Just as she was calculating the number of people in her mind, a soft lody began to drift from the front.

The curtain concealing the main stage slowly parted, revealing a girl draped in pink gauze, sitting gracefully on the stage. With her slender fingers, she lightly moved over the elegant strings of a zither resting on her lap, producing a sweet, lodious sound like a gentle stream.

“Thousands of sails co, yet none are found, only the elegant sound of [Music Fairy]~”

Singing what seed to be a customary opening poem, the pink-gauzed girl raised her head with poise and smiled at the audience below.

“Good evening, thank you all for boarding the [Music Fairy Ship] tonight and joining us for the [Music Fairy Flower Show]. I am ng Rui.”

“It’s actually ng Rui!”

“I can’t believe ng Rui herself is playing the zither tonight, what an honor!”

Upon her appearance, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause, clearly excited. It seed this girl nad ng Rui was quite popular, one of the top figures aboard the [Music Fairy Ship].

In fact, she truly was.

The girl nad ng Rui was the owner of the [Music Fairy Ship].

When they first boarded the ship, Murong Yun had already introduced her identity. Although this young ship owner kept a low profile and rarely appeared in public, it was said that when the [Music Fairy Ship] first appeared more than ten years ago, she had already possessed this sa appearance. Over the course of more than ten years, ti had left no marks on her, making her true identity all the more intriguing.

This mysterious ship owner was also quite different from the typical citizens of the Western Origin Spirit Kingdom. Apart from her graceful and exquisite figure, and her stunningly beautiful face that could topple a nation, she also possessed a head of hair as pure and smooth as a snow lotus. Unlike the gray hair of the elderly, her hair radiated vitality and life, soft and flowing with an energetic glow.

At this mont, sitting on the stage, playing the zither under the gaze of thousands, she exuded an ethereal, almost otherworldly, and flawless aura.

Hearing the cheers from the crowd, ng Rui clearly had long been accustod to such attention. She maintained a gentle yet elegant smile, raising her hand in a subtle greeting.

“Ti is short on such a beautiful evening, I, ng Rui, am not talented, but I wish to offer a solo performance. Please, esteed guests, enjoy.”

As the girl’s light and pleasant voice echoed, countless pink petals fluttered down from the sky, filling the air with a dreamlike and magical atmosphere. The scene imdiately grew silent. She lowered her head, and her slender fingers, as white as jade, gently plucked the zither strings, singing in a clear voice.

“Ancient rivers and mountains, the sacred path to the truth,

Not as good as a song,

A lody of immortals begins,

Dreams return, and the glass shatters.

A smile blooms like a cluster of flowers,

You, like the warm breeze of spring, intoxicate.

On the river, we walk, ti slips away in an instant,

A thousand blossoms… who do they bloom for?

You and I, eting in the mortal realm, parting at the ends of the sky.

Sigh… when we return… it will be a thousand years later.”

The lodious zither and the girl’s voice blended into heavenly music, rising gently in the air aboard the ancient ship.

“This song…”

“This song is called *Mortal Sigh*. It is said to be an original composition by Miss ng Rui. What do you think of it, Senior Vi?”

A voice, lowered to almost an extre, interrupted the priestess’s muttering. It was Murong Yun, who, at so point, had co to stand beside Violet, both of them now gazing at the pink-clad girl on stage playing the zither. He smiled faintly.

Such a piece, filled with this kind of atmosphere, is certainly not sothing an ordinary person could create.

Though only a little, it already carries the power of sothing known as the “Law”.

Violet tilted her head to glance at the man in white, a teasing smile appearing on her face.

“By the way, you seem to hold the performances here in high regard. Usually, you’re so serious and proper, yet you enjoy this kind of performance? Could it be that you chose this ship… because you have a personal interest in it?”

“Ahem…”

As though choking on his own words, Murong Yun let out an awkward sound and hastily tried to explain.

“Senior Vi, you misunderstand. I do appreciate Miss ng Rui, and I certainly wanted to take this opportunity for everyone to experience the [Music Fairy Flower Show] performance. However, choosing the [Music Fairy Ship] was indeed made with a practical angle in mind.”

“I’ve traveled along the Kaiyuan River many tis. To be honest, no other ship cos close to the [Music Fairy] in terms of comfort, safety, efficiency, or cost-effectiveness. Since we happened to co across it…”

“Alright, alright, I get it!”

The black-haired girl stood on tiptoe and patted his shoulder, making a “no need to say more” expression. She then raised a small fist, which appeared to be without any real threat.

“One last ti, I’ll say it. Don’t ever call ‘Senior Vi’ again! Got it?!”

“Uh… I’ll keep that in mind, Lord…Vi.”

“‘Lord Vi’? What kind of ridiculous title is that…?”

Shaking her head in a mixture of amusent and helplessness, Violet couldn’t be bothered to correct him any further. Instead, she and Murong Yun silently fell back into the comfortable quiet, both savoring the zither solo still ongoing on stage.

Before long, the song ca to an end. ng Rui gently lowered her hands from the zither and gave a slight bow to the audience, prompting a loud and enthusiastic round of applause.

“Wonderful! Miss ng’s zither skills have improved once again!”

“This piece, *Mortal Sigh*, was absolutely breathtaking! It made my whole body shiver, filled with both joy and sorrow, it’s simply marvelous, simply marvelous!”

It was indeed impressive.

Even Violet had to admit that ng Rui’s zither skills were extraordinary. While she herself didn’t have much expertise in musical instrunts, she could still tell when sothing was remarkable.

She could easily be called a master, no doubt.

But…

As for being called [Music Fairy], there was still sothing lacking.

Her skill had reached the peak, but there was sothing more profound missing… the inner insight, the soul that truly understands. She couldn’t comprehend the true essence of *Mortal Sigh*, nor could she fully imrse herself in it. As a result, she could only exert the smallest fraction of the power contained within the music’s laws.

She was just one step away, but that step was the distance between heaven and earth.

This piece wasn’t originally composed by ng Rui. She was rely a learner and a successor.

Such thoughts, of course, didn’t only exist in Violet’s mind. As she scanned her surroundings, she quickly noticed a few other passengers, likely first-tirs on the [Music Fairy Ship], especially those dressed elegantly and exuding noble air, who were secretly showing signs of disdain.

These truly important figures, or people like Violet, who had traveled extensively and seen much, naturally had a broader perspective than ordinary people, and they weren’t so easily impressed.

The word [Fairy], no matter what prefix it had, was a symbol of utmost prestige in the Ancient Spirit Realm. Only those who stood above all else, the singularly holy, could match it. If soone falsely claid to be an immortal without the ability to back it up, they would face severe consequences.

As Violet was thinking this, the young girl in pink clothes, ng Rui, smiled gently and slowly rose from her seat.

“Please forgive , I’ll perform *Mortal Sigh*. Where in this world can one find a true companion? Now, let us enter the red dust and… begin!”

“Whoosh~~~”

It was as if a layer of misty pink gauze had suddenly covered the surroundings. The petals that had fallen with ng Rui’s playing began to swirl and rise, transforming into a fragrant, almost imperceptible mist that swept through the air.

“Vroom!!!!!!”

The space around them, which should have been confined to the cabin, abruptly shifted and, in the blink of an eye, turned into a serene mountain valley.

A faint lody echoed from within the valley.

“Huh?”

Violet raised an eyebrow and looked around.

Without a doubt, this was an illusion.

As a deity with sensory powers far beyond normal visual and auditory perception, Violet easily recognized the true nature of the scene before her.

Though it appeared as though she was alone in this empty valley, in reality, her position had not changed. She was still within the cabin of the [Music Fairy Ship], and even Murong Yun was still standing beside her, unmoving.

But it wasn’t entirely an illusion.

Stepping on the soft grass, the black-haired girl tried moving a few steps.

The feedback from her divine senses confird that her physical location had not shifted in the slightest. This was more like a ntal and spiritual illusion space, similar to the ethereal clouds Violet had encountered when fighting with [Yazi].

To put it simply, it was like daydreaming.

I see…

The true [Music Fairy] is here, then.
