[Vol. 5] Chapter 219: Crossing the Sky

“What… is it for?”

The dragon girl blinked curiously, but the black-haired girl just shrugged her shoulders in a nonchalant manner.

“How would I know?”

“Or rather, it’s precisely because we don’t know that we should be more cautious. After all, I don’t want a repeat of what happened in the Aibus World.”

“I see, you always consider so many more things than I do, Master.”

Feeling flattered by her partner’s complint, the priestess girl beca sowhat shy and awkward.

“Ah, haha… that said, it’s mainly because I feel it would be troubleso. After all, we really shouldn’t interfere too much in their wars.”

The dragon girl nodded slightly again.

“So, Master, what should we do next? Should we stay in this city and observe the war’s progression, or go find Leila and the others?”

Countless faint golden lights, resembling fireflies, appeared in the priestess’s palm. She scattered them casually, letting them drift like a golden rainbow toward the distant sky. Then she donned the ?Dominion of the Fox Mask? again, returning to her identity as ?Dawn?, and smiled lightly.

“Let’s go back to the city first. With Leila and Rene over there, they can definitely ensure their safety no matter what. We can let them act freely while we go do sothing more interesting.”

“Understood, we will follow your lead, Master.”

Thus, the two girls descended from the sky above the city, and after a brief adjustnt, Violet returned to the west city wall, which had just received a montary respite from the recent breakout battle.

There, the Redemption Saintess, Philona Lambert, who had just entered the city, had already t with the Bright Light Saintess, Yuna Sumrfield, who was in charge of guarding the city and welcoming her.

“They’re not coming back? What does this an? Does Your Highness Yuna want to abandon those warriors?! Isn’t this… I cannot accept such a decision!”

“Redemption Saintess Philona, please rember that I, Yuna Sumrfield, am the commander of this holy war. No matter when or what your identity is, you are prohibited from acting on your own. That would undermine the plan we discussed… This ti, I’ll let it go since you’re new and unfamiliar with the situation, but if you dare do this again, I will have to take military action against you.”

On the city wall, after reprimanding the Redemption Saintess, who appeared to be of similar age but was actually decades younger, with an overwhelming aura in front of many eyes, Yuna relaxed her deanor slightly and turned her gaze, as if foreseeing the future, toward the two girls who had just stepped up the stairs and around the corner.

“Ah, it’s Miss Dawn. Have you finished dealing with your personal matters?”

“Hmm, what’s going on?”

Glancing at the pink-haired girl, who was pouting and didn’t speak out of apparent stubbornness, Yuna shook her head helplessly.

“Forgive for making you see this. Just now, after breaking through the demon blockade and leading a part of Your Highness Philona into the city, she seed to think that Edwina and the others advancing instead of retreating was a way to reduce the risk of the city being breached. She insisted on arguing with and even planned to venture outside the city to assist before I arrived.”

“Ah…?”

Surprised, Violet turned her gaze to the Redemption Saintess, who wore a magnificent holy robe in a style similar to Yuna’s but with notable differences in detail, holding a short staff. She looked her up and down, already forming a vague impression of this last current Saintess she had heard so much about but was eting for the first ti.

She also seed to be quite a character. Unless she’s putting on an act, her sowhat immature behavior suggests she’s as kind as her reputation implies.

It’s just that she had never experienced any real storms or hardships, making her sowhat naïve and lacking the steadiness and depth that ca with years of experience, like the Bright Light Saintess.

She was sowhat similar to the early days of Edwina.

“Hello, I’m Dawn.”

Feeling a bit interested, Miss White Fox took the initiative to greet Philona, who instinctively placed a hand on her chest and returned the most standard basic greeting among the followers of the Goddess.

“Ah, hello… I… huh? You’re the famous White Fox Saintess Dawn, who is rumored to possibly have a connection with the Goddess?!”

“What’s a White Fox Saintess…?”

Why are there so many strange titles popping up…?

“Moreover, I don’t have a direct connection with your Goddess Church. That’s just a rumor.”

Seeing Miss White Fox making such a solemn declaration in public, the Redemption Saintess appeared sowhat frustrated, lowering her head in sha.

“Sorry, I misspoke. I shouldn’t have spoken when I shouldn’t have.”

Huh? This attitude seems like she’s saying, ‘I’m sorry! I didn’t an to expose your identity!’

Does this girl really understand what she just said?

Secretly muttering to herself, Miss White Fox cleared her throat and steered the conversation back on track.

“Just call Dawn. In any case, Edwina wasn’t sent out to die, she’s tasked with sothing quite important. While I won’t deny the risks, it’s far from giving up. You really misunderstood Yuna.”

“Is that so? If even the White Fox Saintess says so, then it must be true. I’m really sorry, I’ve been so immature.”

“So please stop using that strange title…”

Seamlessly joining the conversation and diffusing the small conflict between the two Saintesses, Philona quickly got back on track, taking advantage of the reduced pressure on the western city wall.

She arranged for her healing team to expedite the treatnt of the wounded within the city while chatting with the two figures beside her, both of whom she called ‘Saintessess,’ despite one of them not being a real Saintess.

The main focus was still on exchanging various pieces of information.

After all, while communication magic is convenient, it also carries the risk of being intercepted, and safer thods are often prohibitively expensive.

Even with the solid foundation of the Holy Empire, it is difficult to use such thods frequently. Thus, many important discussions still had to be conducted face-to-face, like now.

“I see… that really is a very creative tactic. If it can be realized, the situation on the main battlefield would surely be turned around. No wonder it’s Lady Yuna… I apologize for doubting you earlier.”

Regarding the third sincere apology from the Redemption Saintess, Yuna maintained her usual gentle smile, shaking her head in seeming indifference.

“It’s nothing. Just make sure not to publicly question the commander’s orders again. Disobedience and disagreents among the higher-ups can be deadly for an army, which is why I had to be so strict with my wording… Besides, the one who ca up with this thod and made it possible is not , but Miss Dawn.”

“Eh? Truly worthy of the wise and mysterious White Fox Saint…ahem… Miss Dawn! But speaking of which, what exactly was the thod you ntioned for quickly crossing the Star River?”

Suddenly the center of attention, Miss White Fox could only withdraw her gaze from observing Philona’s maid beside her, who wore a cold expression, and naturally continue the topic with the two Saintesses.

“It’s actually quite simple. Although the Star River is a perilous place that can’t be easily crossed, if one can fly, it wouldn’t be much of a challenge, would it?”

………………………

Two days later.

“Is everything ready?”

Standing on the western bank of the vast Star River, which, though not turbulent, was still broad and unreachable, the white-armored Holy Knight, finished her contemplation and checked her silvery tal wings behind her before asking the trusted aide who had just arrived by her side.

“Miss, everything is prepared. The usage instructions and precautions you instructed have been communicated to everyone. After a brief rehearsal, we can depart at any ti, but…”

Edwina glanced at the Holy Knight behind her, who was similarly attired and bore the Cecilia family crest on his shoulder. Without needing him to speak, the girl guessed the confusion and unease shared by him and most of the troops.

“You want to ask if this thing is truly reliable, whether it might be feasible for a short ti, but whether it could malfunction during long-distance flight, right?”

“Uh…”

The golden-haired girl turned around, her delicate face betraying no emotion as she calmly replied.

“Your concerns are natural, and I won’t bla you for them. But I swear by the na of the divine bloodline Cecilia and the Goddess, since the one who bestowed this upon us assured that as long as it is operated strictly according to the guidelines, there will be no issues, then there absolutely will be no problems… I don’t want to repeat myself a third ti. Do you understand?”

Under the faint yet undeniable authority emanating from Miss Holy Knight, this clearly capable Holy Knight straightened his posture and responded loudly.

“Yes… yes! Miss!”

“Call acting commander.”

“Yes! Acting Commander!!!”

“Good. Go notify everyone, we will prepare to depart in fifteen minutes… to cross the river.”
