[Vol. 5] Chapter 150: Resilience

While pondering, the slender and smaller figure in the sky made a slight misstep, giving the golden-armored warrior an opening. The massive greatsword struck his side with a resounding *bang*.

Unsurprisingly, the youth with silver-white tallic wings that seed to echo his opponent’s own wings imdiately lost his balance under the imnse force, spiraling down and crashing into the thick snow with a muffled *thud*, disappearing from sight.

“Wow… that was pretty harsh…”

Violet saw it clearly. Although Lucas’ strike was purely physical, without using the sharp edge of the sword, the force behind it was very real. Judging by the strange posture the ?Dead Soul? had in mid-air, it was likely that several of his ribs had been broken from that one blow.

While the priestess didn’t consider this to be a serious injury, she could heal it with a wave of her hand. For an ordinary person, even with healing potions or the strange pills the ?Dead Soul? carried, it would be nearly impossible to instantly nd broken bones.

Otherwise, what would be the point of priests and healers?

Thinking this to herself, Miss White Fox quietly walked over to where the golden-armored warrior had slowly landed as well.

“Mmmph…”

Lucas had naturally noticed the spatial fluctuation and Violet’s arrival. As the girl approached, he instinctively wanted to speak and bow, but Violet subtly shook her head, signaling him to stop.

“How long this ti?”

“5 minutes and 24 seconds. He’s definitely improving, especially in his use of the external wings you bestowed upon him. Also, this human’s physique… is sowhat peculiar.”

“Oh? Peculiar in what way…”

The girl was about to inquire further when a *thud* ca from not far away. The grey-clad swordsman who had been knocked into the snow was now crawling out, looking utterly disheveled.

“?”

Slightly surprised, both Miss White Fox and the golden-armored warrior turned their gaze toward him.

This was… indeed unexpected.

As a skilled priestess, Violet was absolutely certain that, as long as the ?Dead Soul? still had the body structure of a living being, even if he wasn’t human, Lucas’ earlier strike should have broken several of his bones, possibly even injuring his spine.

From a normal person’s perspective, even at a legendary level, he shouldn’t have been able to recover his mobility so quickly.

In fact, Violet had originally planned to have a quick conversation with Lucas to ask about recent progress before pulling the young man out of the snow to heal him.

Did he really just crawl out on his own?

Well…

After ten days of beating him up, Lucas probably gained enough experience, even if he were smashing waterlons, to not hit the ?Dead Soul? so hard that he couldn’t get back up. Otherwise, the so-called “test” would lose its aning. Since Lucas dared to strike like that, he was likely confident that it wouldn’t cause any irreparable harm.

“Puh… hah!”

On the other side, Mr. Dead Soul had just crawled out of the snow and was now lying on the ground, panting heavily, probably because he had been face-down and suffocating for too long.

Moreover, he seed to have completely adapted to the cold here. Even though he wasn’t wearing the warm coat Violet had previously given him, choosing flexibility instead, he showed no signs of discomfort.

Could this be related to his unique physique? This guy seems more complicated than I thought…

With that in mind, Miss White Fox greeted him.

“Haven’t seen you in about ten days. Looks like you’re doing quite well?”

“This voice… Miss D-Dawn!?”

It seed that the swordsman didn’t have Lucas’ high level of perception. Combined with the snow covering his senses and his intense focus on the battle, this legendary level person had only just now noticed that there was soone else besides them atop the mountain.

Panicked, he hurriedly tried to get up and bow, but it was clear that Lucas’ earlier strike wasn’t completely ineffective. The grey-clad youth, lying on his back, twitched on the ground like a stranded fish. Though wincing in pain, he was unable to get up imdiately.

“Pfft…”

Though she wanted to laugh, Miss White Fox held back, maintaining her “wise master” deanor. She waved her hand and said, “No need to be so formal. There’s no superior-subordinate relationship between us. Just be yourself.”

“Ahaha… sorry, it was instinct…”

Gradually recovering from the tension of not having seen her in a while, the ?Dead Soul? took a few deep breaths. He pulled out a small porcelain bottle from his pocket, skillfully poured out a pill, and swallowed it. After resting for a mont, he slowly sat up from the snow and began testing his arm movents.

“…What kind of dicine is that? It seems quite effective. Did the ?Diviner? give it to you?”

“Hmm? You an this?”

Noticing that Miss White Fox’s gaze seed to linger on the porcelain bottle in his hand, Mr. Dead Soul was montarily startled, then smiled helplessly and spoke frankly.

“Miss Dawn, this isn’t so miraculous elixir. It’s just a catalyst, specially made by my master to activate the unique traits of my body. For ordinary people… it would be more like a deadly poison.”

Without any intention of hiding the truth, the grey-clad swordsman stood up and handed the bottle to the girl in front of him. Violet took it, casually took out one pill and holding it between her fingers for a closer look.

It was perfectly round, roughly the size of a fish eye, with a smooth surface and a black color. It looked a bit like a ball of mud polished and coated with wax.

Although curious about its effects and tempted to investigate, the ?Information Detection? ability wasn’t omnipotent.

For ordinary materials without any energy fluctuations, like dicine, it could mostly only analyze their components and wouldn’t reveal all the details of their effects.

Coincidentally, though Miss Violet was skilled in healing, her knowledge of actual dicine, especially the herbs native to this world, was limited.

At most, she could identify about thirty to forty percent of the ingredients based on her book knowledge, and even less when it ca to the final, mixed product.

“Hmm, I see…”

After staring at it for a while without figuring anything out, Violet could only feign contemplation for a mont before putting the pill back in the bottle and tossing it back to the grey-clad swordsman, who was moving around to stretch his muscles and seed to have fully recovered.

It was hard to imagine that just a few minutes ago, this guy had been knocked down and lying half-dead in a snowbank. Speaking of which… he seed to have recovered quickly after the recent chaos with the ?Faceless One?…

However, while Violet was curious, she wouldn’t forcefully pry into others’ unwilling secrets or privacy. Since Mr. Dead Soul had intentionally glossed over the matter of his “physical condition,” it indicated that he didn’t want to discuss it further.

There was no need to nitpick every little detail.

Thus, Violet shifted the topic back on track.

“I ca today to check on the current situation here and to discuss so thoughts with you.”

Upon hearing Miss White Fox’s words, Mr. Dead Soul’s expression beca serious and earnest, and he quickly bowed deeply.

“Thank you for your concern, Miss Dawn. Please give your orders.”

“Well, the Expeditionary Army will soon arrive at Angel City. I can’t fully predict what will happen afterward. As the person in charge of the Spirit Veil rchant Guild for this trip, you must bear a heavy responsibility and can’t remain in this icy place to practice indefinitely. Therefore, I have considered this and decided to slightly modify the content of the first trial.”

The grey-clad youth raised his head, showing a hint of surprise before realizing and nodding in agreent.

“Miss Dawn has clearly given it much thought, I am imnsely grateful. Though it’s a bit unfortunate… may I ask how you would modify it?”
