“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Strange sounds echoed against the golden curtain, their source hidden by the dense, impenetrable fog outside. The eerie and mysterious nature of it instilled a sense of dread.
The timid Lulu had already shrunk back, wrapping herself with her wings as if to shield herself from the fear. Even Little Blue, who was maintaining the barrier, couldn’t help but cast a pleading glance at the black-haired girl beside her.
“Lady Violet, there seems to be sothing strange outside. What should we do? Should we attack?”
“No, it seems like...”
“Bang bang bang bang bang!!!”
The knocking beca more rapid and heavy, like a death knell in the thick night fog. However, Violet only raised an eyebrow and calmly instructed.
“Little Blue, let it in.”
【Light Protection】 was a defensive spell that could freely adjust and specify targets to block. Even in its modified version, this functionality remained intact.
“Yes.”
Since Violet had given the order, Little Blue didn’t hesitate. She nodded thoughtfully, prepared for any sudden developnts. The golden barrier’s surface rippled like water, and the rapid “bang bang” knocking ceased abruptly. In its place, a figure suddenly stumbled through, rushing in desperately!
“Step back.”
Unperturbed, Violet waved her hand and approached the figure, not summoning her weapon imdiately. Little Blue and Lulu finally saw the intruder’s true form as they erged from the dense fog.
She was a woman, appearing to be in her early twenties, with two short antennae on her head and four thin mbrane-like wings spread out behind her. Through these features, almost identical to Lulu’s, both imdiately understood her identity.
“Oh my goodness!”
“A mber of the Spirit Butterfly Tribe? What’s... happening to her?”
Violet didn’t respond to the whispered exclamation from the two won behind her. After taking a few steps forward, she stopped in place, observing with interest the approaching but erratic and crazed-looking beauty, who seed to be muttering strange words.
There was no doubt that this mber of the Spirit Butterfly Tribe was experiencing so ntal issues.
“Who are you?”
With little sincerity, the priestess greeted, expecting no response from the crazed Spirit Butterfly Tribe woman. True to expectations, she ignored the greeting and instead viciously swung her bloodied fist towards the black-haired girl’s face!
Clearly, the earlier “bang bang” knocking was caused by her.
“Lady Violet...!”
“Oh, quite aggressive~”
*Smack.*
Before Little Blue could warn anything from behind, the priestess casually raised her arm and effortlessly caught the incoming attack with the palm of her hand.
This punch seed powerful and fierce, but in reality, it lacked any technique and was more akin to a wild and instinctive attack. While Violet wasn’t particularly skilled in close combat, relatively speaking, dealing with such an attack was effortless for her.
“I heard that mbers of the Spirit Butterfly Tribe rarely engage in direct physical combat. Miss, you should use your best psychic abilities against the enemy.”
“Defend our holand! Intruders... die!”
Mocking the opponent with a sowhat frivolous tone, the peculiar Spirit Butterfly Tribe woman continued to repeat the sa words obsessively, desperately attempting to punch and kick Violet. It was like watching a petty quarrel unfold in the streets, with her normally beautiful eyes now bloodshot.
However, her first punch was firmly held in the priestess’s palm, leaving her with limited options.
Despite still attempting to resist, Violet simply sidestepped, advanced half a step, spun half a circle around the Spirit Butterfly Tribe woman, grabbed her captured arm behind her back, and also grabbed the other arm, pressing them against the wings on her back.
“So that’s how it is. The books weren’t wrong, this thod can quickly suppress most normal humanoid creatures... This grappling technique seems quite effective.”
“Intruders!! Intruders!!!”
Even though she was pinned down and unable to move, the once elegant Spirit Butterfly Tribe woman continued to scream and struggle frantically, appearing almost insane.
At this mont, Little Blue and Lulu hurriedly approached the two figures who were about to determine the outco in a few breaths, looking at the peculiar behavior of the Spirit Butterfly Tribe woman with complex expressions, seemingly unsure of what to say.
“Lady Violet, what’s wrong with her?”
“It’s hard to say for sure at the mont, Lulu. Do you recognize her, given that your colors are similar?”
“She is...”
Similarly, the pink-haired Butterfly girl, observing her fellow clan mber held by the priestess and looking disheveled and distressed, suddenly exclaid after careful observation.
“Oh! She, she’s Lady Lian, responsible for guarding one of the three nodes of the protective array! Lady Lian is very powerful, how could she end up like this?”
“Nodes?”
More interested in a term inadvertently ntioned by the forr, the priestess seed to be more concerned about this than about the Spirit Butterfly Tribe mber called Lian. Seeing this, Lulu quickly explained.
“Well, Lady Violet, our protective array at the Butterfly Peak is powered by the magical energy of the entire mountain and the surrounding ley lines. However, relying solely on the central hub for such a vast amount of energy makes it difficult to operate smoothly.”
“Therefore, the Holy Ancestor also built three nodes scattered around the mountain peaks, each guarded by three outstanding mbers of our clan. As long as the nodes are intact, the array cannot be broken by external forces, and everyone is safe.”
Upon hearing this, the priestess not only did not suddenly realize but instead frowned even more displeasedly.
“Why didn’t you ntion this important information earlier?”
“Uh... I’m sorry, but the location of the nodes is classified within the clan, and only the three guardians know the specific details. I was afraid that speaking about hearsay might affect your judgnt...”
Seeing Lulu imdiately looking crestfallen, avoiding eye contact, and looking pitiful, Violet felt a sense of unease, but she couldn’t continue to press the matter. She could only sigh and nod.
“Well, it’s not too late to know now.”
Since only the three guardians knew the location of the nodes, it seed that it was necessary, both morally and logically, to heal this Butterfly nad Lian.
“Intruders! Stop the intruders!”
Even though the priestess had firmly pinned her down, the other party still murmured incessantly as if imrsed in her own world. It was undoubtedly a sign of so sort of ntal problem.
“Lady Violet, can you save her? Lady Lian is a very gentle sister to everyone in the clan. She must have been done sothing by the enemy to end up like this.”
“Well, don’t worry too much for now.”
After comforting Lulu briefly, Violet no longer hesitated. Following the point of contact with the other party, she directly activated her Information Detection skill.
The Information Detection skill required a certain level of connection with the target to be used. For example, the priestess usually used her hands or her staff to establish a similar condition.
Therefore, at the mont the skill was activated, sothing hidden within the Lian’s body, following this connection, finally showed aggression.
