Chapter 706: Chapter 44: Then I’ll Have to Ask You to Co With
“Is this the last one?”
“It’s the last one for tonight.”
“That’s what I an.” A Black rchant patted the well-locked carriage, then glanced sideways at Harlow, “You’re about two hours late from the scheduled ti, what happened to you? Why is your face covered in wounds?”
“Got held up by an idiot,” Harlow replied irritably. “They hit so hard I almost got my bones broken.”
The Black rchant raised an eyebrow: “And what about him?”
Harlow said flatly, “Probably dead by now.”
“Haha, that indeed sounds like your style.”
The Black rchant chuckled and was about to get on the carriage, but Harlow stopped him in ti.
“What do you think about Wildfire?”
The Black rchant turned back to look at Harlow: “You really want to go?”
“Why not give it a try?” Harlow said. “It’s a blue ocean there, with no Church present, and hasn’t been divided up by other Gold rchants yet. Wouldn’t that make it easier to act freely?”
“To what extent do you an to act freely?” the Black rchant asked. “Why don’t you make it clear?”
“How much clearer should I be?” Harlow said. “I’ve already inquired. In the past century, to deal with the night, the villages in Wildfire are far apart, and a new order hasn’t been established yet. So… even if you make an entire village disappear overnight, no one would know.”
“An entire village disappearing, sounds just like the No-man’s Land.”
“Trades in the No-man’s Land don’t happen all the ti, and they’re all in the hands of those Gold rchants,” Harlow said. “If we want to make it big, we can only seize such opportunities.”
The Black rchant was evidently tempted, but soon thought of sothing and beca a bit hesitant: “But is this the right ti? You must have received the notice, right?”
Harlow understood what the other was referring to—the Black rchant’s laundering.
The Black rchants in the headquarters all knew that Contract Land was no longer content to be trapped in the No-man’s Land and wanted to enter society to beco a real Church.
And those Black rchants with the best connections to Contract Land wanted to co ashore as well, upgrading from Contract Land’s black gloves to white gloves. With the backing of Contract Land, once successful, they would beco one of the most powerful forces in the world, a status far different from now.
However, before that, they still needed to obtain the consent of several other major Churches.
Although this was basically just a formality, as no Church dared to disrespect Contract Land.
But just in case, the higher-ups of the Black rchants still required their subordinates to behave during this ti, which is why even though Wildfire was so tempting, the major Gold rchants hadn’t entered yet.
“Isn’t this our opportunity?” Harlow patted the Black rchant’s shoulder. “If not for this ti, how could we possibly get in before those Gold rchants?”
“But…”
“No buts.” Harlow intensified his tone. “Think about it, once we’re ashore successfully and beco a visible force, who knows what we’ll be able to do or not do then? Do you think we’ll have a chance to rise when that ti cos? Do you want to be oppressed by those guys for the rest of your life?”
The Black rchant was persuaded by Harlow. He nodded and said, “Alright, I’ll go take a look after delivering this batch.”
“Smart. But rember, you must be swift in your actions,” Harlow advised. “Don’t leave any evidence for others to catch.”
“Rest assured, aside from the goods, there won’t be any living witnesses.”
“That’s good then.”
Harlow nodded satisfactorily, watching as the Black rchant drove away with the carriage, while in his mind, he was already imagining bringing back a carriage full of gold.
This fantasy greatly improved Harlow’s mood, even alleviating the gloom and frustration caused by being “betrayed” by Lair tonight.
He humd to himself as he walked back.
“A Black rchant going ashore becos a White rchant,” he muttered. “After earning this big sum, I can consider retiring… hmm?”
Harlow suddenly stopped in his tracks, frowning.
Because he caught a faint whiff of blood in the air.
Normally, slling blood around the warehouse was quite normal because the brats locked in the warehouse were hardly intact, and the butchers would also be cutting the goods they needed.
But now this scent of blood was too fresh, as if it had just flowed out.
At this ti, no butcher should be taking action.
Could it be an issue with a specin?
Rhein’s limb Growth or Eternal Nightmare’s brain separation?
Although he knew it wasn’t his business, Harlow still decided to take a look. After all, as a Black rchant, he couldn’t miss any piece of information.
But when Harlow returned to the warehouse and saw the place covered in blood and nurous shattered Black rchant limbs and organs, he realized just how foolish his actions had been.
He imdiately prepared to run, but the mont he turned around, he saw a familiar figure standing in front of him, causing his body to freeze.
“Ah, Harlow.” Lair slowly erged from the shadows, accompanied by a dripping sound. “I thought you were gone.”
Harlow stared intently at Lair, eyes full of terror.
Because at this mont, Lair was entirely crimson, the blood all over him seed about to burst from his veins, making him look like a blazing fire.
