Chapter 681: Bai Wei’s Request

“First of all, I want to emphasize that the outside is not Heaven, and I’m not an Angel.” Lair sat cross-legged, his posture like that of a leader among children, “Of course, compared to here, the outside really is like Heaven, and compared to you, I do indeed seem like an Angel.”

Lair’s words puzzled the children, giving them a sense that he was saying sothing and not saying it at the sa ti, but they dared not question him because this was the Angel.

To the people in the village, Angels have always been noble and mysterious.

They rarely co to the village, and even if they visit, they only co to take those golden seeds, hardly exchanging any words during their stay. Between the villagers and the Angel, it seems there is an understanding; they plant the seeds, and the Angel takes them away, and that’s how it goes.

The Angel before them was different, as he didn’t arrive and leave within the sa day, but stayed for several days without taking any seeds. He even proudly shared the items he had with the villagers.

These items were unlike anything they had seen before, including the “Divine Staff” which could ignite by a re wave, and the “dicine Sugar” which doubled one’s spirit with just a chew. Most morable were the few indestructible “Broken Fingers.”

At that ti, the Angel tossed these “Broken Fingers” in front of them, proudly declaring, “Anyone who manages to break one of these can pick anything from my pocket… except the potions, of course.”

The Angel’s bag intrigued them, filled with treasures beyond imagination. They tried hard to break the “Broken Fingers,” slicing with knives, smashing with stones, or burning with fire, they were unable even to “injure” it.

Their efforts greatly amused Lair, so after each attempt, he’d reward them with so sweet candies. To them, this was a blessing from the Angel, and they accepted with fear and trepidation, making Lair laugh all the more heartily.

“Hmm… where did I leave off yesterday?” Lair swayed his head, “Does anyone rember?”

“I, I, I, I rember.” A child raised a hand, “You ntioned sothing old and silly…”

“Oh, Rhein.” Lair recalled, “There’s much to say about that place, it’s truly… hmm, indescribable.”

Once again, the children showed bewildernt.

Is there much to say, or not much at all?

“Of course, I’m quite familiar with Rhein.” Lair thought it over and found an entry point, “Let’s talk about their Magic! Rhein’s Magic is indeed top-notch in the world.”

Then, Lair began speaking to the children about Rhein, naturally leaving the kids dazed and amazed.

For the first ti, they discovered that the outside world of Heaven was vast, encompassing many realms.

There was Rhein, Holy Sound, and Lyra.

The lifestyles of people from different areas varied greatly, mostly incomprehensible to them; for example, they didn’t understand what notes were, nor did they know what chanics entailed, so Lair could only start by explaining Rhein, as it was the easiest part of the Church teachings.

Yet, even with this, the talk of Magic had the children gasping in wondernt.

They had never witnessed Magic, aside from Lair’s display with the “Fire Stick,” which for them equated to Magic, magical indeed.

When Lair ntioned the Rhein God, a child couldn’t help but ask, “Is the Rhein God the God of Heaven?”

“Yes.”

“Then is He our God as well?”

“Ah, no.” Lair shook his head, “The Rhein God is only the god of the Rhein people. Heaven… no, the outside world has several gods, different gods have different followers.”

“Do followers know their own god?”

“Of course.”

“Then…” the child puzzledly asked, “who is our god then, why don’t we know?”

“Because you have no god.” Lair said, “The people here have no divine beings.”

“We have no divine beings?!” The children asked, horrified, “Were we abandoned by the gods?”

“Of course not… Co on, why are you so concerned about gods.” Lair waved his hand, deciding not to discuss divinity with this bunch, “Let’s talk about sothing else, hmm… do you know what I do?”

“You’re an Angel.”

“I’m referring to my work.”

“Do Angels need to work?”

“Of course, Angels need to work, I’m a rchant.”

“What is a rchant?”

“Soone who exchanges money for goods.”

“What is money?”

Lair: “…”

He suddenly rembered that Contract Land never paid for the seeds.

So, after painstaking explanations, the children roughly understood what a rchant was, thus eagerly asking, “What do you sell?”

“A lot of things.” Speaking of his main occupation, Lair beca even more animated, “I’m the best rchant in the world, a Gold rchant, do you get what a Gold rchant is? Gold, silver, copper ranked first, as a Gold rchant, you can’t imagine how impressive I am outside, and having achieved this status depends entirely on my efforts with a pinch of luck, now I’ve landed the most profitable job.”
