Vic’s passionate enthusiasm didn’t last very long. When the large door behind him slowly closed, and everything returned to darkness, his fervent heart cooled rapidly, as if drenched by a bucket of cold water, and his steps unconsciously slowed down.

Darkness and emptiness were the most direct sensations here, and every step he took echoed with the sound of chains dragging in this enclosed space.

It felt as if the whole world only consisted of him, yet simultaneously, it felt like he was surrounded by people everywhere.

Vic took a deep breath and whispered to himself, "It’s okay," before continuing forward.

Without a light source, he naturally couldn’t move as freely as before and had to be cautious with every step.

The half-ter passage wasn’t wide or narrow, as long as one was careful, it was perfectly possible to walk steadily to the other side without any worries.

Vic thought as much.

But after taking only a couple of steps, Vic was drenched in cold sweat.

The pressure was overwhelming, as each step forward required probing for the edges to avoid missteps, which did not provide Vic with any sense of security.

Perhaps he should...

Vic pondered for a mont, and then instinctively crouched down, placing all four limbs on the ground.

Instantly, a sense of security returned.

Yes, yes, just like this!

Vic felt extraordinarily pleased, thinking he had found the right approach, even considering whether he should go back now and tell Ivana about this thod.

But then, he heard soone speaking to him.

"Don’t go any further, Ade."

Vic’s body froze instantly. The voice that seemingly sounded right in his ear made his hair stand on end.

"Who!"

He shouted.

But what ca out was not words but a roar.

...

Bai Wei walked in the darkness.

Unlike Vic, who struggled with every step next door, Bai Wei moved calmly, as if the darkness had no effect on him whatsoever.

Indeed, it didn’t affect him at all; his eyes could pierce through the darkness.

Bai Wei hadn’t walked far when he also heard soone speaking next to his ear.

"Don’t go any further."

Bai Wei stopped walking.

He did not feel fear; instead, an intrigued expression appeared on his face.

"I was wondering if it might be possible to connect with you," he said with a smile. "And here you are."

The voice disappeared. Everything returned to silence, as if what was heard before was rely an illusion.

"Playing tricks, maybe?" Bai Wei mused for a mont, then shook his head, "No, it shouldn’t be."

So he continued forward, the grating sound of chains dragging once again filled the air.

After walking a few more steps, the voice echoed once more.

"You are not from here, who are you?"

"I am an outsider." Bai Wei replied with familiarity, as if chatting with an old friend he hadn’t seen in a long ti, "From a place you don’t know."

The voice disappeared again, only to reappear after Bai Wei had walked further.

"There is no place in this world unknown to ," the voice said, low-pitched, "Outsider, you have no idea what you are facing."

Bai Wei smiled as he answered, "I think no one knows better than I do."

The voice vanished once more.

It was like a machine with sluggish reactions, unable to respond promptly to Bai Wei, requiring Bai Wei to take several more steps or exhaust so ti before slowly reacting.

"You are very arrogant," the voice said, "Arrogance is often based on ignorance; only those who know everything understand fear."

"Is that why you were so afraid of Visas back then?" Bai Wei raised an eyebrow, "To the point where you even abandoned your own master?"

Whether it was an illusion or not, this ti, the voice’s pause lasted longer than before.

It was hard to say how much ti passed before Bai Wei even suspected it had disconnected, but finally, the voice sounded.

"You do know a lot," the voice said slowly, "I underestimated you, outsider. Given that you know what you are facing, I admire your courage in coming here."

"Isn’t it because you haven’t taken the last step yet?" Bai Wei said with a smile, "I’m not stupid. If you had truly beco a god, I wouldn’t be here... at least not at this mont. Right, Wildfire?"

Wildfire did not seem to grasp Bai Wei’s insinuations, his reactions were indeed sluggish, only comprehending literal anings.

"Do you think you can stop ?"

"Aren’t I trying?" Bai Wei continued to smile, "And it’s a quite effective attempt, otherwise, why else would you be here arguing with instead of going directly for that child?"

Fire remained silent for a mont before speaking again.

"I must admit, you are indeed extraordinary, outsider," the voice said, "You have embedded so many identity constructs in my Saint’s mind, successfully delaying his awakening process and hindering my involvent. But do you think that’s enough?"

The voice grew louder.

"Eventually, he will awaken and rember who he is. He is not a hunter, not a hound, nor is he the boy who refuses to beco a monster. He is a Saint, destined to beco a Saint of God. At that mont, you’ll realize all the identities you imposed on him are nothing but a joke."

"In the presence of a god, mortals can only bow."

Bai Wei listened quietly, without refuting, and only after Wildfire finished speaking did he seemingly change the topic by asking.
