Outside the small town, Wood, the Church Leader of the Wildfire Sect, quietly watched the distant sunset as it slowly descended.
Around him stood a host of Wildfire believers.
"Church Leader, are we sure to take action tonight?" a believer asked.
Wood glanced at the other: "Otherwise? Are you trying to defy the leader’s will?"
"No, of course not!" The believer shivered, then quickly said, "It’s just that we haven’t received any ssages from Church Leader Lauren yet, so I was wondering... could sothing have happened?"
Wood furrowed his brows slightly upon hearing this: "No ssage yet?"
"Yes, and those who were sent to investigate have not returned either."
Wood’s brows knitted even more tightly.
This was indeed an unexpected situation he couldn’t ignore.
According to the usual procedure, Lauren should have already taken care of that troubleso kid by now, or more accurately... the Saint.
This was the first step in the leader’s becoming a god, and the most crucial step.
And he was now in charge of the second step.
Though these two steps weren’t directly related, if sothing happened on Lauren’s end, their action tonight would also be aningless.
But what could have happened to Lauren?
It was just dealing with an unawakened Saint, after all, for soone of Lauren’s strength, there shouldn’t have been any accidents.
Could it be... Rhein?
Wood recollected the last eting when Lauren ntioned that Rhein had been restless lately and seed to be planning sothing.
Could it be that those damn perverts have indeed extended their reach to this land?
While Wood pondered, a subordinate hurried over and whispered a few words to him.
After listening, Wood involuntarily showed a surprised expression.
What the subordinate told him was that at dusk, a person claiming to be the Rhein Priest checked into the town’s only inn, accompanied by a masked individual.
Even more importantly, judging by the aura, that person seed to be the Saint whom Lauren had been pursuing...
The Rhein Priest... the Saint...
Both were in this city?
If it weren’t for the fact that the one reporting was Wood’s most trusted subordinate, he might have thought the person was talking in their sleep.
So what on earth was going on?
What had happened to Lauren?
Wood thought for a long ti, but he still couldn’t make sense of it.
With sunset nearly complete, and darkness about to descend, he must make a decision quickly.
Whether to proceed with the original plan.
After a mont, Wood slowly spoke.
"No matter what happened on Lauren’s side, since the Saint is right before us, we’ll just finish what he was supposed to do."
"As you command!" The subordinates saluted with a chest gesture, their movents precisely as if they were statues.
Wood then looked at the city before him, about to be completely engulfed by darkness, and softly said.
"All for our leader, for the master who shall descend upon the world..."
"Go! Kill all the Hunters!"
"Let the night descend upon us!"
"Let these ignorant fools see who the true savior is!"
With the order given, Wood and all the pursuers vanished at once, transforming into shadows, entering the small town before complete nightfall.

"Lost?" Fig calmly looked at the Rhein Knight before him, "You might as well clarify... what exactly was lost?"
The Rhein Knight standing before him was in a bad state, his left arm was gone, the wound looked as though it was bitten by a beast, with dense teeth marks all over his armor as well.
If he hadn’t used the Divine Arts to stop the bleeding, it would have been impossible to make it back to Fig.
But clearly, Fig wasn’t very concerned about this knight’s life; his focus remained on... the Devourer.

This was sothing Fig absolutely could not accept, hence his seemingly calm words were laced with suppressed anger.
This anger caused the Rhein Knight before him to shudder uncontrollably, nearly unable to stand.
"I’m sorry... Bishop Fig." The Rhein Knight stamred, "An accident occurred."
After which he recounted last night’s encounter to Fig in full detail.
Upon hearing it, Fig also knitted his brows deeply.
Because... strange, it was just too strange.
The Rhein Priest they’d been tracking with the Corpse Blocks, surprisingly, wasn’t Ulu?
But if it wasn’t Ulu, who else could it be?
The Seven-Tone Player who had thrown the Holy Sound into chaos?
Where on earth had Ulu gone?
Rumor had it the person was accompanied by a young boy, indicating they might indeed be from Rhein.
But there was only one traitor in Rhein, Ulu.
And who was that boy?
Moreover, his n were ambushed by a giant wolf during combat, even the Divine Power barrier was shattered; what was that all about?
From the knight’s description, it seed to be those Wildfire believers, but how could they, those brute-force capable folks, break through Divine Arts?
Only Divine Arts can counter Divine Arts, and those Wildfire believers don’t even have a god above them, how could they use Divine Arts?
Also, the giant wolf seed to initially be pursued by those Wildfire believers.
