In April, the weather in Linchuan was clear and pleasant, with a comfortable temperature. Accompanied by the morning sun, a fine mist dissipated, taking away the faint chill in the air.
A gentle breeze, as soft as silky satin, carried with it a sense of spring, making everything seem lively and vibrant.
Jiang Qin had just stepped down from the stage, and the loudspeakers began to crackle. The familiar lody of the “March of the Athletes” started to play, evoking a sense of nostalgia even in the soul of an older gentleman like Jiang Qin.
This lody, ingrained in their DNA from a young age, sparked an inexplicable excitent in him.
He walked over to the spectator seats of the Finance Departnt, noticing the crowd that had already gathered inside the track. There were participants like Ren Ziqiang and Zhang Guangxu, as well as supporters like Cao Guangyu, Zhou Chao, and even Pan Xiu.
Since the sports competition was a matter of pride for classes and departnts, even soone like Ren Ziqiang, who wasn’t very popular in class, drew considerable attention.
“Old Jiang, I’m about to compete. Give a blessing!” Ren Ziqiang shouted from a distance upon seeing Jiang Qin.
“Brother, control your speed, don’t take off, or they’ll accuse you of using magic,” Jiang Qin advised seriously, eliciting laughter from the crowd.
A few female students from other departnts couldn’t help but turn their heads and giggle, their laughter as pleasant as silver bells. They comnted on how humorous and decent-looking he was.
Seeing this, Jiang Qin put on a cool, handso expression and walked to the spectator seats.
The Finance Departnt had many spectators, mostly freshn and sophomores, and mostly male, dressed flamboyantly. For them, the competition’s results weren’t as important as the opportunity to et beautiful girls and add a few QQ numbers.
The most eye-catching among them was Feng Nanshu, sitting in the third row. She wore a white sweater and black jeans, sitting straight with a cool and aloof expression. Her fair skin was smooth like a peeled boiled egg, her long hair cascaded down beautifully, and her eyes and lips were captivating.
If youth is charming, then the little rich lady was even more enchanting at that mont.
Feng Nanshu’s face lit up adorably upon seeing Jiang Qin, and she couldn’t help swinging her legs excitedly.
Jiang Qin sat next to her and asked, “Did you have breakfast before coming here?”
“Yes,” she replied.
“What did you eat?”
The little rich lady sneakily slipped her hand into his and looked up at him, “I had tea eggs and millet porridge.”
“I think I brought pistachios for you. Want so?”
“Yes.”
Jiang Qin took out a handful of pistachios from his pocket and fed them to her. Suddenly, the sound of a starter gun caught their attention.
The n’s sprint was underway, with twelve runners in each of the eight groups. As the gun sounded, the athletes sprinted, their quick strides eliciting gasps from the spectators.
The sprint was over in a flash, and a boy with a crew cut won. He tried to rip off his shirt in a triumphant roar, but it didn’t tear as expected. Instead, he lifted his shirt to reveal well-defined abs, circling the finish line with raised hands in a victorious gesture.
“Having abs isn’t everything, right? Just like a sports student is expected to have abs, we in the finance departnt are expected to be good at business. There’s nothing to show off,” Jiang Qin thought to himself, his expression unchanged.
He covered Feng Nanshu’s eyes, feeding her another pistachio, as if shielding her from the sight.
“Wow, aren’t you being overly protective? I thought you were just friends,” Gao Wenhui remarked teasingly.
Jiang Qin replied dismissively, “What’s so great about that? Feng Nanshu surely isn’t interested in such things.”
“How can a girl not like abs? As long as they’re not too exaggerated and well-proportioned, I’d skip als just to admire them!” Gao Wenhui exclaid.
“Stop teaching nonsense, Gao Wenhui. If you want to look, go closer.”
Suddenly, Feng Nanshu pulled Jiang Qin’s hand away. “Jiang Qin, do you have abs?”
He felt his stomach under his shirt. It was flat but lacked definition. “Yes, one big one.”
“I want to see,” Feng Nanshu said eagerly.
Jiang Qin quickly covered his stomach. “n and won shouldn’t touch each other like this. Why do you want to see everything?”
Gao Wenhui whispered, “Jiang Qin, you might not know, but Feng Nanshu has abs.”
“Really?”
“Yes, they’re incredibly beautiful,” Gao Wenhui said seductively.
Jiang Qin thought it was quite normal for Feng Nanshu to have abs. The little rich lady had been learning various things since childhood, including sports like Taekwondo, so it wasn’t surprising.
“I don’t believe it. Show if you dare,” Jiang Qin said, swallowing hard.
Feng Nanshu hesitated for a mont and reached for her clothes, but Gao Wenhui stopped her. “You wish! Unless you show your abs in exchange for a glimpse of Feng Nanshu’s, you can’t just take advantage.”
“I don’t really want to see them that much anyway,” Jiang Qin said, pretending to be relaxed and turning his attention back to the field. He then saw Zhang Guangxu fall into the sand pit during the long jump, causing Jiang Tian and Song Qingsong to cover their eyes in shock.
Zhang Guangxu had just lost his chances of finding a partner this sester.
Next was Ren Ziqiang’s turn, but Jiang Qin doubted he would achieve his dream of coming first. Even making it to the top four would be a stretch. However, as long as he didn’t embarrass himself like Zhang Guangxu, he was still winning.
Jiang Qin took out his phone and searched on a WAP site how to train abs – side crunches, supine leg crosses, sit-ups… It didn’t seem too hard. He decided to try a few sets that evening, not to see Feng Nanshu’s abs, but purely for his own pride.
While he was busy learning these exercises, he noticed a shadow on the ground. Looking up, he saw a woman placing a transparent bag in Feng Nanshu’s lap. The bag contained a sun hat, soda, tissues, a battery-operated fan, and a bunch of cartoon hair ties.
Feng Nanshu looked bewildered and turned to Jiang Qin, a trace of confusion in her eyes.
Everyone turned to look because they recognized the woman as the owner of the college supermarket.
“Boss Jiang, what are you doing here?” Jiang Qin put away his phone.
Jiang Zhihua smiled brightly. “I set up a snack and drink stand under the podium. With noon approaching and temperatures rising, I prepared a ‘cooling five-piece set’ for the boss lady.”
“Why do you also call her boss lady?”
“I follow Boss Jiang for a living, so Miss Feng is naturally our boss lady.”
Feng Nanshu’s heart fluttered with joy upon hearing this, and her eyes sparkled.
The surrounding girls showed envious expressions, feeling a bit sour. Everyone in the Finance Departnt knew Jiang Qin’s business was growing, and many local business owners were eager to collaborate with him. They knew that referring to Feng Nanshu as “boss lady” was a sign of respect and connection to Jiang Qin.
Particularly, the “Xi Tian” milk tea shop downstairs was rumored to be a gift from Jiang Qin to Feng Nanshu, and she had three more such stores in other universities. Effectively, Feng Nanshu was considered the boss lady of the entire college town’s business circle. Even without a penny on her, she would receive gifts and offerings during her visits, depending on her willingness to accept.
This was fascinating for the female students. Which girl doesn’t dream of being a princess? And thanks to Jiang Qin, Feng Nanshu was the princess of the college town’s business circle.
However, Jiang Qin knew there were no free lunches. This wasn’t a gift, but a ploy to make the little rich lady happy at his expense. He was sure Jiang Zhihua would add this to their monthly bill.
But since it made Feng Nanshu happy, Jiang Qin thanked her and took a hair tie from the bag, tying Feng Nanshu’s hair into a pretty ponytail.
“Damn it, always showing off,” muttered Zhuang Chen from the fourth row, sitting next to Jian Chun, who looked on with envy and longing.
Zhuang Chen knew exactly what Jian Chun was envious of – Feng Nanshu’s status and the affection she received from Jiang Qin. The pain of seeing the girl you like envy another because of her connection to a certain man was unbearable.
Zhuang Chen took a deep breath, his resolve to start his own business growing stronger.
As noon approached, the competition on the field beca more intense. During the n’s 1000 ters, Ren Ziqiang gave it his all. He wanted to shine in so way, to have all the girls in his class cheer for him.
After a while, Cao Guangyu and Zhou Chao greeted Ren Ziqiang at the finish line with water and towels.
“Ren, you’re amazing, finishing fifth out of twelve! That’s above average!” Zhou Chao agreed, impressed.
“Fifth… Is there a trophy for that?” Ren Ziqiang asked, biting his lip.
“No trophy, you can’t even make it to the finals. But it’s okay, Cao has decided, we’ll have Boss Jiang treat us to dinner tonight!”
