One sentence destroyed Aaran's plan. He had placed his bets on the dungeon's reward, but now that he had found it, he was told he couldn't use it.
"…"
He sighed, fiddling with the flare Donovan gave him. With most goblins destroyed, it was his only hope to get out of there unhard.
But calling for help would complicate things, and the magic tower would take the grimoire.
"I would be rewarded, but it won't be nearly as good as the grimoire."
[Give it up, boy. It's better to get what little you can.]
"…yeah, it's a sha to leave it here..." Aaran said, staring at the grimoire. "Let's get out of here."
No sooner had he taken a step than another notification flashed before him.
[The Goddess of Salvation looks at the user.]
Aaran smiled inwardly. He wasn't sure his acting would work on her, but it seed he had underestimated his skills.
The Goddess of Salvation was known to be kind and gullible. Since Aaran had nothing to lose, he took a shot in the dark and acted pitifully, hoping to get her attention.
He wasn't sure it would work since the gods communicated amongst themselves and the others could warn her. Yet she ignored them… at least it looked like that for the mont.
[The Goddess of Salvation mocks the user.]
"…?"
Aaran did not expect that from her.
[The Goddess of Salvation laughs at the thought of a mortal without divinity using her grimoire.]
Tch. Guess she isn't as gullible as they say.
Aaran clicked his tongue and dropped the act. Since the goddess would not help, he had no reason to stay there.
If anything, he was eager to inform the magic tower about the grimoire now. He would love to see the goddess's face when they tore the grimoire apart, page after page.
[The Goddess of Salvation would like to offer a deal.]
Aaran stopped in his tracks as a mission prompt appeared before him.
Quest Na: Road to Divinity.

Swear allegiance to the Goddess of Salvation.

Accept the quest?
Yes / No
Before Aaran could even decide, the quest was deleted. But what happened next surprised him more.
[The God of War strongly objects!]
[The Goddess of Wisdom is uncertain.]
[The God of Judgnt proposes a vote.]
In the end, the gods left to vote, and Aaran was told to take the ti to think about the proposal.
The vote lasted all but two seconds, and the gods were back, wanting to know Aaran's decision.
Ignoring their voices, Aaran thought about it. Being bound to one goddess wasn't sothing he was keen on. But the offer would help him in more ways than one.
After gaining divinity, he could use his revolver without shooting blanks. Also, he could use the divinity to feed the obsidian. The only downside was that he would have to take on the priest class.
His classes would clash inevitably, and he might not be able to use them together. In the worst-case scenario, his core might get destroyed.
If it cos to that, I'll die as a loser and get resurrected as usual.
The gods' hunger for the perfect ending was now being used against them, since Aaran knew the gods won't let him die.
"I accept."
The next mont, the grimoire appeared in Aaran's hand. Eager to learn a spell, he opened it, only to find it filled with blank pages.
"…What the hell? It's blank."
[The Goddess of Salvation sighs.]
The book turned over by itself, revealing the first page.
Aaran scratched his head in embarrassnt, but ignored it and read the words written in the ancient language.
Chapter One: Hymn of Strength.
***
anwhile, outside.
Cerberus's legs gave out. The goblins were toying with it, and it had no choice but to stay put. Even the slightest movent would make Brute smack it in the face.
Brute stood before them as another goblin walked up to Cerberus, intending to stab it again. But as it raised the spear to attack, it was engulfed in flas.
However, it wasn't Cerberus's doing.
Brute turned around, and the culprits ca into view. The worshippers had left their nest.
He clenched his fist and let out a thunderous roar. The remaining undead goblins responded to his call. Spears in hand, they charged at the worshippers.
But it was in vain.
The worshippers hurled more fireballs at them. Within seconds, the goblins were turned to ash. Only Brute and one other goblin remained standing before them.
The worshippers snickered. Their patience had paid off. With Cerberus out of the picture, they could deal with those pesky creatures with no issues.
Even the Prior was confident. That was until he felt a sudden chill.
He wasn't the only one, either. Suddenly, they began shivering as mist escaped their mouths.
Just then, a snowflake drifted across his face. Prior reached out for it, confused. It never snowed in Velrune, as it was near the coast.
What is happening here…?
Confused, Prior glanced above, and his stomach dropped.
A massive snowball had covered the sky.
"It can't be—"
Prior spun around. The pom-poms were missing from the sky. The ghost… it wasn't fooling around anymore.
He was about to yell at the worshippers to use their magic and lt the snow, but it was too late.
"Filthy cockroaches, you should've kept hiding," Darius roared. "Now you've made look bad in front of little liege!"
The worshippers couldn't hear Darius, but they saw the enormous snowball plumting toward them.
They had to move, or else the snowball would crush them all. To their dismay, the ghost had frozen their feet in place.
Just when death seed inevitable, a squeaky voice rang out.
"Chapter One: Hymn of Strength!"
A golden fist appeared before their eyes, hitting the snowball in the air. It exploded, sending chunks of ice and snow flying in all directions.
Darius's grin disappeared as his masterpiece was destroyed. His furious gaze scanned the clearing, looking for the one responsible for it but couldn't find anyone.
"Who dares defy ?!" he roared in fury.
"Your master, you dumbfuck!" Aaran yelled back, brushing the snow off his head. "Did you want to bury along with the enemy?"
