Chapter 18: We Really Deserve To Die!

A chilling aura swirled around everyone in the room, heavy and oppressive.

Although it wasn’t quite suffocating, it gave the unsettling sensation of one’s heart being gripped by sothing, as if hanging by a thread.

Pain!

It hurt so much!

Excavation??Princess couldn’t understand why things had turned out this way.

For the first ti, she had t an NPC that could prove her brilliant analysis was correct.

For the first ti, she had established a good relationship with this NPC.

These two delightful events had intertwined — she should have felt even happier.

But why had it co to this?

If word of what had happened here got out, even if it was later proven that Bai Fu’s design was more powerful than what she had analyzed in her post, she wouldn’t even get the chance to retaliate or deliver a face??slapping coback.

She might as well consider facing off with Batman in Gotham instead — it would better suit her new identity.

In the dead silence, it was Bai Fu who broke it first.

“No response? Then don’t bla

for going all out.”

She clenched her left fist, exuding killing intent.

She had blocked an iron rod with her arm and caught a blade bare??handed — after that whole sequence, she remained unscathed.

No one doubted that this punch of hers could kill Excavation??Princess!

At the last second, Party Big Star stepped forward.

“Wait a minute!”

That shout shattered the invisible pressure.

Everyone, including Bai Fu, turned their gaze toward Party Big Star.

A drop of cold sweat slid down his forehead as Party Big Star hurriedly took two deep breaths.

“This is a misunderstanding — no, maybe not quite a misunderstanding.

The main issue is that we didn’t know the target of this mission was you.

If you’re willing to listen, I can explain!”

“Is that so?”

Bai Fu didn’t give a direct answer.

Her expression remained stern, but she did release her fist and let go of Excavation??Princess.

She didn’t attack — did that an there was still a chance?

Party Big Star quickly explained the process of how Convert to My Fu received the quest.

“That’s how it happened.

If we’d known the target was you, we would’ve co to inform you imdiately.”

Calamity Dragon promptly added, “That’s right, Sister Fu Fu.

If we really wanted to deal with you, we would’ve done it yesterday.

There was no need to wait until now.”

As the two of them spoke up, the other Players clung to that glimr of hope like drowning n grabbing at straws, speaking all at once.

“Fu Fu, my feelings for you are as clear as the sun and moon!”

The major mistake had already been made, and they were filled with regret.

All they could do now was try to salvage the situation as much as possible — maybe they wouldn’t be buried alive right away.

Perhaps there would still be a chance to regain so favorability in the future.

While the group of Players shouted anxiously, Bai Fu suddenly let go of Excavation??Princess.

Eh?

Excavation??Princess froze.

The others were also puzzled as they watched Bai Fu stride toward one of the Players.

“You — if I rember correctly, didn’t you get your neck twisted yesterday?

Why?”

After speaking, Bai Fu walked over to Party Big Star.

“And you. You may not have died, but your right hand was seriously injured. Why has it returned to normal after just one day? There shouldn’t be dical skills that advanced here!”

Shock, doubt, disbelief.

At that mont, Bai Fu’s expression was so rich it would make a fresh idol cry out “Impossible.”

Seeing her like this, Party Big Star finally felt a bit relieved.

Now that there was a topic, they could continue communicating properly.

“It’s like this, Sister Fu. Just like we said yesterday, we won’t truly die in this world. Look, he ca back to life — that proves it.”

Party Big Star pointed.

“Resurrection? How could that be possible? Sure, there are ways like soul summoning to achieve it, but just with you guys… Wait a minute, maybe it’s not entirely impossible!”

It was as if Bai Fu suddenly thought of sothing — her pupils shrank sharply.

Her reaction made the Players even more confused.

Convert to My Fu, whose psyche had been nearly crushed, also lifted his head.

What’s going on?

Once again, it was Party Big Star who gathered his courage.

“Is sothing wrong?”

Bai Fu returned to her poker face mode: “You’re not from Origin Star, are you?”

The question was a bit baffling, but Party Big Star still nodded instinctively: “No.”

Bai Fu closed her eyes and only reopened them several seconds later.

“Looks like that sacred prophecy might not be fake after all.”

Her voice wasn’t loud, but it landed clearly in everyone’s ears.

“What sacred prophecy?”

“I once listened to the sacred words. They said, when justice is shattered, when crisis erges, the Undying Ones from the other side of the mist will arrive at our holand under the will of the Supre Will, crossing the boundary of life and death to reignite the fla here.”

Though speaking such chuuni lines, the frost on Bai Fu’s face finally began to thaw, and the fury buried deep in her eyes gradually faded, replaced by suspicion.

At this mont, even Black Tiger Afu, who usually didn’t care about the story, shuddered violently.

What Bai Fu said — wasn’t that exactly the ga’s lore?

“Undying Ones” clearly referred to the Players.

The ga world was in crisis (as per the Developer’s setting), so the Supre Will (ga company) summoned Players into the ga.

After crossing life and death (getting killed repeatedly by monsters), they would reignite the fla for the ga world (a reference to the ga’s ending).

An NPC who could recite such lore could not possibly be just an ordinary Wildfire Gang mber.

There had to be a massive secret behind Bai Fu!

To have “listened to the sacred words” — could it be that she was a Saintess from sowhere?

Party Big Star was utterly stunned.

He hurriedly turned to look at Excavation??Princess.

Maybe in the past, she often guessed wrong and was scolded for overinterpretation, but this ti — she had really done it!

Yes, she did it!

Excavation??Princess was so excited she wanted to rush forward and cling to Bai Fu’s thigh and rub it with all her might.

The other Players were just as thrilled.

Whether they liked Bai Fu’s appearance or were chasing hidden quests, they all felt like they had struck gold.

Before they could revel too long in their excitent, Bai Fu poured a bucket of cold water over them.

“To be honest, I’ve always been skeptical about that sacred prophecy. And I really can’t imagine the so-called heroes of legend sneaking in at night to assassinate .”

Ah, that?

All the Players lowered their heads in sha.

They truly deserved to die — how could they have made such a grave mistake?

How were they supposed to atone for it now?

“But this ti—” Bai Fu paused, “I’ll believe it halfway. Even heroes make naive mistakes.”

Huh?

This ti, the Players looked up, eyes filled with disbelief as they stared at Bai Fu.

None of them expected Bai Fu’s attitude toward them to shift so dramatically.

What surprised them even more was when Bai Fu walked up to Excavation??Princess and slowly helped her straighten the clothes she had ssed up earlier.

She was so gentle!

By comparison, even Black Tiger Afu, who only thought about fighting and leveling up, felt a bit ashad.

The other Players were even more guilt-ridden, feeling they owed Bai Fu far too much and had no idea how to repay her.

“Also, thinking it over carefully, what you said isn’t impossible. Lately, there have indeed been people treating

like a thorn in their side. Originally, I wanted to hide my strength, but now it seems a bit difficult.”

Bai Fu withdrew her hand from Excavation??Princess.

“Alright. With all that commotion just now, it’s hard to say if soone will co check it out. If they see you, you won’t be able to escape. Go now — I’ll co find you tomorrow.”

Bai Fu gave them an address.

Since she’d said that much, Excavation??Princess and the others had no choice but to comply.

Even as their feet stepped onto the pothole-filled road, they still felt like tonight’s events were unreal.

“The heroes of legend, huh? Looks like we’ve got to prove ourselves to Fu Fu from here on out.”

“How strong do you think Bai Fu really is? When she grabbed Excavation??Princess just now, just looking at her made

feel like I was freezing.”

“Who knows. All I know is Fu Fu is a truly gentle person.”

“Don’t you think Fu Fu is so cool? That block, that grab — she was too cool! This combination of gentleness and coldness is just so amazing!”

Excavation??Princess’s eyes sparkled with stars.

Convert to My Fu sighed in admiration: “That’s Fu Fu for you. Gentleness is her nature, but she carries a heavy burden and has no choice but to show her cold side to the enemy.”

As they spoke, one Player shivered with lingering fear: “Good thing Bai Fu’s real strength is terrifying. Otherwise, tonight we might’ve made a huge mistake and possibly broken a major storyline.”

It would’ve been better if he hadn’t said it — once he did, the other Players’ faces changed.

Their embarrassnt turned into guilt, and their guilt into burning rage.

“Everything else can wait. I’m going to settle the score with the guy who gave us that mission!”

Convert to My Fu clenched his fists.

The other Players all expressed they wanted to go together.

In the night breeze, ten furious Players stord off toward the quest??giver’s location.

Watching them disappear into the distance, Bai Fu nodded with satisfaction.

She was genuinely looking forward to the reaction of the person who had tried to get rid of her when they found out their minions had been beaten up by Players.
