Shell was bathed in blue flas, the Orichalcos mark shining on his forehead. For an instant, he seed swallowed by black fire.
"Die!"
The massive Dozer charged at shocking speed, its huge, foul-slling maw ready to devour Jaden.
But before Jaden could react, Kira played a card.
"I activate from my hand—Trap Card: Magic Cylinder!"
Jaden: "!"
Shell: "!!!"
The Trap Card's image appeared: twin barrels ford in front of Jaden. Shell was stunned: "A Trap Card from your hand?"
"When Demise destroyed one of my set cards last turn, it was 'Cross Counter Trap.' When this card is sent to the graveyard by the opponent's effect, you can activate a Trap from your hand once that turn." (Ani effect)
Shell's face twisted: "Another trap!?"
In one turn, his Phoenix God wiped the back row, and Demise cleared the field twice.
He thought he'd cleared all the traps, but there was a third layer!
Shell finally turned his glare on Kira.
A trap hidden under traps and yet another layer! Are you a grave robber or what?
"Aweso, Kira!" Jaden gave a thumbs up. "A chain of traps—if he takes this, it's over!"

"Not so easy!" Shell shouted. "I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Mystic Wok' from my hand!
I tribute one monster on my field and gain LP equal to its ATK or DEF!
I tribute 'Doom Dozer' and recover LP!"
A huge black wok appeared. Doom Dozer dove in, instantly cooked and absorbed into Shell.
Better to cook your monster than let your enemy use it against you.

Jaden: "Ah, so close..."
Shell survived, but his OTK setup was broken. He eyed Kira warily.
"Tch, what a devious brat. But I still have Demise who hasn't attacked!"
He redirected his attack at Kira.
"Since you protected your friend, you'll take his place! Demise, King of Armageddon—direct attack!"
Demise stepped forward, each stride shaking the earth. His axe swung in a blazing arc toward Kira.
"I won't let you hurt my friend!"
Jaden raised his hand.
"Thanks to Kira's 'Card Destruction' earlier! From the graveyard, the effect of 'Necro Gardna' during your opponent's turn activates, by banishing this card, you can negate one attack!"
A ghostly shield appeared before Kira. Demise's axe slamd into it, blue flas washing harmlessly over the barrier.
Shell scowled: "Tch, so even 'Card Destruction' held a hidden combo..."
His OTK, paid with most of his LP, failed to deal a single point of damage and nearly backfired.
Are these kids just students?
Shell frowned, starting to wonder if dueling two at once was too much.
Are Duel Academy students this strong nowadays?
Kira smiled and nodded at Jaden. "Thanks."
"Friends help each other. And besides, you protected first." Jaden grinned, rubbing his nose.
But watching their camaraderie only annoyed Shell more.
"Still have ti for friendship? Fine, let's see how long you last!" Shell growled. "I activate the Spell Card 'Card of Burial Magic.' By banishing three Spell Cards from my graveyard, I draw two cards." (Ani effect)
Three Spell Cards appeared in his graveyard.
"I banish 'Last Hope of Nephthys,' 'Advanced Ritual Art,' and 'Mystic Wok' to draw two cards."
The Spell Cards shimred and vanished. Shell drew two more cards.
"I haven't Normal Summoned this turn.
I set a monster and two cards face-down. End turn."
"All right! My turn—I can't let Kira's hard work go to waste!"
Jaden slapped his cheeks to focus.
"My turn, draw!" he said. "First, I activate 'Fusion Recycling Plant!' I add one 'Polyrization' and one Fusion Material monster from my graveyard to my hand.
I return 'Polyrization' and 'Elental HERO Bubbleman' from my graveyard!"
He added two cards, then summoned one.
"Next, summon 'Elental HERO Bubbleman!'"

"Bubbleman's effect: If he's the only card on my field when summoned, I draw two cards!" (Ani effect)
Two more cards were drawn. Jaden played another card.
"Equip Spell 'Bubble Blaster!' Equip to Bubbleman, ATK increases by 800!"

Shell: "Even with 800 more, he's still weak."
"Don't be so sure—watch as a HERO's potential is limitless!" Jaden played another card. "Spell Card 'Polyrization!'
I fuse 'Elental HERO Sparkman' and 'Elental HERO Bladedge' from my hand!
HERO fusion unleashes infinite possibilities—tear through the darkness with thunder—
—Elental HERO Plasma Vice, Summon!"
Sparkman and Bladedge appeared, rging into a swirling vortex of fusion. Electricity crackled, golden light flashed, and the steel-ard HERO descended!

(In real-life cards, Plasma Vice's ATK is 2600, but Jaden's original card is 2800.)
"Plasma Vice's effect activates!" Jaden declared. "By discarding a card, I can destroy an opponent's Attack Position monster!"
He discarded a card.
"I discard a card to destroy 'Demise, King of Armageddon!'"
Plasma Vice's arms surged with golden electricity, launching a lightning spear at Demise!
"Muda!" Shell's eyes glowed blue. "I activate my set card: Trap Card 'Dark Sacrifice'! When a card would destroy a monster, negate that effect, then send a Level 3 or lower DARK monster from my deck to the graveyard."
Black mist ford a spiral barrier in front of Demise. Plasma Vice's lightning crashed against it, scattering golden sparks.
"Demise is invincible, and with 'The Seal of Orichalcos,' his ATK is 2900. Even your fusion HERO can't beat him!" Shell said.
"If once isn't enough, I'll do it again!" Jaden shouted. "Plasma Vice, activate effect! Discard a card to destroy an Attack Position monster.
Destroy 'Demise, King of Armageddon!'"
Shell was surprised: "It has no activation limit, like Demise?!"
"That's right! Plasma Vice's effect can be used any number of tis in a turn! Go! Plasma Thunder Strike!"
A golden bolt pierced Demise's chest, a huge hole opening in the demon's armor. He toppled over, engulfed in blue fire.
Demise, King of Armageddon—destroyed!
