In just a mont, Mason’s expression returned to normal. He smiled bitterly, "Elara, I know I’ve done foolish things before and hurt you, but now I sincerely want to reconcile with you. Your reaction is really breaking my heart."

Elara didn’t look at him again, only said to David Hales, "Dad, I’ve already remarried. It’s impossible for to get back with him, absolutely impossible."

David Hales seed relieved, nodding, "I see."

Mason frowned slightly, "Dad, what I told you before is true. Elara is blinded now. I’m the one who truly loves her."

"What did you say to my dad?" Elara felt no goodwill towards Mason now; hearing this, she instinctively felt that he hadn’t spoken kindly.

Mason looked at her, seemingly a bit helpless, sighed, and said, "You married Zion Fitzwilliam. If you truly love each other, that’s one thing, but that man is clearly gay. Yours is a marriage of convenience, am I right?"

Elara’s heart trembled. She hadn’t ntioned this to anyone, except her two friends Zara Dalton and Esther Carter.

But Zara and Esther would never betray her.

Where did Mason hear this from?

"Elara," Mason clasped her hand with deep affection, "I only wish for your happiness, but it seems now that only I can give you that happiness."

Elara looked at the hand holding hers, the once warm and dry palm now only repulsed her.

Without hesitation, she broke free from his hand, expressionless, "Mason, enough. Haven’t I made myself clear before? There’s no possibility between us."

Mason said, "Is it because of Cecilia Quincy? Don’t worry, I’m divorced from her now. From now on, I will only love you, Elara. Please give another chance."

Elara looked at him steadily, "Mason, you’re not welco in my ho."

In just one sentence, her stance was clear.

Mason’s eyes showed a hint of hurt, his face in pain as he nodded slightly, sighed, "I know, I hurt you deeply. I understand why you don’t want to co back, but I’ll let you know that this ti, I truly wish to spend my life with you."

Having said that, he nodded to David Hales, "Dad, Elara has hardly co back. Don’t let ruin your mood. I’ll leave now."

With that, he turned and walked out, greeting Yvette Somrs in the kitchen as he passed.

Yvette quickly chased after him, "Mason, at least have so food before you leave? I made several dishes, Mason!"

Mason’s figure disappeared outside the door. Yvette sighed, turning to look at Elara and David Hales, disapprovingly, "I’m telling you, maintaining this attitude is not good. Regardless of Mason’s status, he’s humbled himself..."

Elara interrupted her, "Auntie Yvette, this is my matter."

Her voice was soft, but tis had changed. Yvette swallowed the words she was about to say, considering her position in the household, and turned back to the kitchen to continue cooking.

David Hales watched his daughter with concern, "Elara, if you don’t want to get back with him, it’s best to make it clear. He’s been visiting often lately, and I find it hard to send away soone who’s all smiles."

Elara nodded, "Dad, I understand."

David Hales felt reassured about his daughter, confident in her upbringing that she wouldn’t string Mason along. Her stance was clearly leaving no room for anything.

Elara left after finishing her al.

Once she exited her father’s house, the smile on her lips faded, and her brows furrowed with worry.

Mason showed no signs of taking her words to heart, despite her repeated statents. But he persisted, unwilling to give up.

If he really started blocking her every other day, or worse, did sothing drastic, what could she do?

Should she report him? In Northgarde, no one could touch Mason. No one knew better than her how much money he spent each year maintaining those connections.

As she pondered, a figure suddenly appeared ahead.

Elara abruptly stopped, shocked at the person before her, "You didn’t leave?"

Mason smiled faintly, adjusted the gold-rimd glasses on his nose, and flicked the cigarette in his hand onto the ground, slowly extinguishing it.

It’s as if he had been waiting for her, smoking out of boredom, but now that he had seen her, there was no need to smoke anymore.

Seeing Elara step back, he stepped forward, gently saying, "I’m waiting for you."

Upon hearing such words, Elara instinctively felt repulsion, "What are you waiting for for?"

"I haven’t seen you for a long ti," Mason raised his hand, brushing her face lightly, passionately, "Elara, I miss you so much."

Elara’s face turned cold, "Mason, don’t you understand human language? I told you, we’re divorced, I have no lingering feelings for you. I love my current husband and I hope you stop disturbing my life."

Mason raised an eyebrow, showing a aningful smile, "Oh? Really, a marriage of convenience is called love? He doesn’t even like won, does he cherish you? Can he satisfy you in bed..."

Before he finished speaking, Elara raised her hand and slapped him!

Mason’s eyes turned cold, staring at her like a venomous snake, "Do you know what you’re doing?"

Elara’s hand trembled from anger, her body slightly shaking, she coldly glared at Mason, "Don’t use your despicable thoughts to insult and him!"

Mason chuckled.

He massaged the red mark on his face, "You hit pretty hard."

Then he looked up, mockingly watching Elara, "Then let’s not talk about this. After all, it seems you’re open to a platonic love. I just want to ask if you know what kind of person you’re defending? Do you even know who he is, to say you love him?"

Elara coldly stared at him, "I know more than you!"

Mason quietly chuckled, looking at her with aning, "Have you ever thought about why it was such a coincidence that right after our divorce, he appeared by your side? When you were vulnerable, he seed like a savior offering support. That’s because all the misfortunes you encountered were caused by him!"

Elara paused, staring at Mason, "What do you an by that?"

"Literally, your parents’ car accident, all due to him, your mom’s death, your dad’s paralysis, all caused by him." Mason looked at her, lightly laughing, "Do you still think he’s your love?"

He stepped forward, grabbed Elara’s shoulders, earnestly looking at her, "Elara, only I truly love you, I will never harm you. Co back to , and we can be as before, okay?"

Elara frowned, forcefully pushing him away, "Mason, are you crazy? Did you forget what you said when we divorced?"

"I was blinded by Cecilia at that ti, thinking I loved her, but I was wrong!" Mason looked at her eagerly, as if trying to prove sothing, "Elara, give another chance, I’ll make you happy! I’m more suitable for you than that scheming man!"

"You think I’ll believe your nonsense?" Elara frowned at him, even now remaining calm, looking at Mason as if he were a stranger, "You ca to saying these things just to drive a wedge between us. Zion is different from you, he’s a kind person, he wouldn’t do such things!"

Hearing Elara praise Zion, Mason’s face darkened, cooling down his expression, "Zion? Calling him so affectionately, huh. If I hadn’t found evidence, would I be telling you this? Back when the accident happened, the driver fled, the car was registered under Zion Fitzwilliam! Here’s the registration, see for yourself!"

He took out a registration form and handed it over.

Elara took it, initially just glancing at it, knowing she wouldn’t believe a word Mason said. But upon seeing the familiar license plate number followed by Zion’s na, she was stunned!

This... how is this possible?

"This is your forgery." After a long mont, she finally raised her head and looked at Mason. "I don’t believe this thing, even if you’ve notarized it."

Mason stared at her, "You trust him that much? Not a single doubt? I can guarantee that not a word I’ve said is false, and the registration form is real."

Elara curled her lips, her tone mocking, "I know him."

After saying this, she turned around and left.

She originally worried that Mason would stop her, but unexpectedly, he did not intervene and just quietly watched her leave.

It wasn’t until Elara’s figure disappeared at the street corner that he slowly raised his hand and tore the registration form to shreds.

This thing was, of course, forged by him.

Originally, he thought that planting a seed of doubt like this could surely break them apart, but to his surprise, Elara didn’t believe it at all.

Does she trust that man to such an extent?

A homosexual, not even considered a real man, yet she’d rather be with soone like that than choose him.

Thinking of this, Mason’s expression turned extrely gloomy.

Lately, there were suddenly many more people around him. Initially, he didn’t notice, but with his personal bodyguard’s confirmation, he was inford.

There were no less than six people watching him from the shadows.

He wasn’t sure who sent them. Initially assuming it was the Grayson Family, he dismissed his suspicion after so probing, as the Grayson Family had no reason to monitor him.

Apart from the Grayson Family, he couldn’t think of anyone else daring to monitor him so blatantly.

Eventually, he thought of Brandon White behind Zion Fitzwilliam.

Brandon’s origins were mysterious, but as a young lawyer with significant international influence, his background must be extraordinary.

Considering these strange occurrences every ti he tried to pursue Elara, he guessed that Zion hired Brandon to trip him up.

So, he began investigating Zion and Brandon in return.

Although he still didn’t uncover anything, he unexpectedly heard a piece of news.

That was, Zion was gay, and he and Brandon were the real couple, with Elara rely serving as their cover.

He thought that by pointing this out to Elara, she would be infuriated, especially after he tricked her into believing that Zion was the culprit behind her parents’ car accident. He was sure she would turn to him.

But to his utmost surprise, even after using so many thods, she still refused to look back.

Is that man really that good?

Mason stood in place for a long ti before flinging his sleeves and leaving.

Elara wasn’t as calm as she appeared on the surface.

The car accident three and a half years ago was a permanent scar, a catastrophe that destroyed her family.

She had long since classified the accident as a tragedy her parents just happened to encounter, spending much ti convincing herself it was just fate.

But Mason suddenly brought such a bombshell.

Logic told her that not a word from Mason should be trusted, but... deep down a trace of doubt lingered.

She returned ho to find Zion tutoring Joanne. Seeing her, he happily said, "She got all 120 Olympiad math problems correct. I think she has great potential in mathematics."

Elara paused, equally thrilled for Joanne, "Then I’ll enroll her in a math prep class?"

Zion said, "I’ll handle it."

Elara nodded, "That works. Let know about the fees; we’ll split it half and half."

Zion just smiled without comnting.

He lowered his head and said to Joanne, "You did well on today’s howork. Rest early."

Joanne obediently nodded.

Zion then got up, closed Joanne’s room door, and looked at Elara sitting silently on the sofa.

"What happened?" He poured her a glass of water as he asked.

Elara took the glass, forcing a smile, "Nothing."

"Clearly sothing’s wrong." Zion sat beside her, holding her shoulder to make her look at him, "You ca back so gloomy, your smile is more like a grimace. Tell , what happened?"

Elara didn’t expect him to see through her, leaving her unsure of her feelings.

Seeing her silence, Zion backed off, "If you don’t want to talk..."

But Elara spoke up then, "Mason found ..."

"He’s still not giving up?" Zion’s brows instantly furrowed.

"Mm, he said..." Elara hesitated multiple tis before finally deciding to say it, "He said my parents’ car accident was related to you and that the truck involved belonged to you..."

Zion’s eyes instantly chilled, "The nerve of him."

Yet he quickly noticed Elara’s unusual mood from the start, putting aside the despicable Mason and growing concerned. "You don’t believe him, do you? I only returned to Northgarde this year. Before that, my previous job kept tied up; there’s no way I’m connected to the accident. Besides, my business... I never bought a truck."

Listening to his words, Elara’s mood inexplicably lightened, though she didn’t know why. Despite knowing rationally that Mason was lying, she just wanted to hear his denial from his own mouth. Hearing him deny, she felt completely at ease.

Seeing her relax visibly, Zion also breathed easier, then chatted with her, focusing on the unreliability of Mason and warning her not to be misled again. By the end, Elara couldn’t help but laugh.

She looked at Zion seriously, promising, "Zion, I trust you."

Zion’s heart twitched, as she tilted her head and earnestly watched him, those beautiful almond eyes filled with unwavering trust.

No man in the world could withstand such a gaze from his beloved.

Zion’s breathing faltered for an instant, and all his tender, restrained affection transford into surging impulses, controlling his entire being.

Unable to resist, he raised his arms, wrapping her tightly in his embrace.

His expression serious, almost like a vow, "Elara, I will always be worthy of your trust, and you can always believe that I will never hurt you."

In that mont, Elara forgot how to react. Her head pressed against his shoulder, eyes wide open, filled with shock and disbelief!
