When Adrian Lancaster took action, he didn’t pull three or four strands at once. He was considerate of her feelings and knew how to cherish tender beauty.

But he was quick and didn’t take much ti. "Thank you, Miss Gia." He felt a deep sense of gratitude towards her.

The girl turned her eyes to look at him and said, "President Lancaster, I also look forward to the test results. If it’s true, I will be waiting for you at The Xaviers’."

Once again, he caught a faint scent of herbs emanating from her. Their gazes t, and ti seed to stand still for a few seconds.

Of course, Gia hadn’t told him about a daughter in her lingering mories.

Because what if the test ca out negative? Then she would seem crazy and beco a laughingstock.

Soon, the ticulous Adrian Lancaster thought of sothing and said to her, "We need to leave quickly, or that Miss Xavier will cause trouble."

In a room with just a man and a woman, there could be much to gossip about.

Earlier outside, Adrian Lancaster had seen all of Miss Xavier’s relentless deanor. She wasn’t soone easy to deal with and was quite adept at stirring things up.

Indeed, shortly after Adrian and Gia left, he saw that Miss Xavier had brought her parents to the door, chatting animatedly along the way.

At that mont, he made a ntal note of this girl.

Soon, a car stopped in the courtyard of The Lockwood Old Manor. By this ti, night had fallen.

The car didn’t turn off, and the man in the driver’s seat took out his phone and made a call.

Seeing the caller ID, Adrian Lancaster, who was at the window on the second floor, glanced outside, his long finger sliding over the answer button, "Co down imdiately."

Quickly, President Lancaster ca out of the living room, and the man in the car opened the door and walked toward him.

They t on the lawn, "Boss."

"These are two samples. Please do a test to see if they are mother and daughter." Adrian Lancaster handed him the sealed samples.

The man reached out and took them, "Okay, I will contact you as soon as the results are out." He didn’t ask whose samples they were.

As his subordinate, the man only dealt with the task at hand.

Pressed for ti, he didn’t stay. He left as soon as he got the samples.

And for every mont that followed, Adrian Lancaster was filled with anticipation and nerves.

On the way back to Jadepoint, Rhiannon Xavier wanted to ease the relationship with her parents and clear so misunderstandings, so she spoke softly—

"I’m sorry, Father, Mother. I didn’t think it through." She bowed her head, speaking with grievance, "I was just worried about The Xavier Family’s reputation, which is why I was so agitated."

Her father and mother said nothing, and she looked over at them again, "I have no hostility towards Gia. I really like her. I just..."

Oh dear, the more she spoke, the more tangled it got!

Simon Xavier didn’t speak because at that mont, he was pondering sothing else—did Nathan say he wanted to marry Gia?

So, does he have feelings for Gia?

Then why... hadn’t he ntioned it? In front of The Lancasters, he wouldn’t just casually talk about it, right?

Mrs. Xavier turned her eyes to her daughter, patting her hand and comforting, "Let bygones be bygones. Don’t dwell on it. There’s nothing to apologize for since nothing happened."

There’s no need to let an outsider disrupt the family harmony.

But Mrs. Xavier didn’t voice that thought, because in her heart, Gia couldn’t be considered an outsider.

After spending so much ti together, she felt more like family... that sense of closeness even surpassed what she felt for Rhiannon, whom she’d raised for years.

Then, Mr. Xavier ca back to his senses and also looked at his daughter, "Rhiannon, what do you think about your brother wanting to marry Gia?"

Ah?

Rhiannon t her father’s gaze, her mind montarily blank, "I..." She liked her brother, but could she say that?

What would be the consequence if she said it out loud?

Hold it in, don’t speak!

And Mr. Xavier just wanted to take the opportunity to gauge her feelings, to see if she indeed liked Nathan.
