When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster Chapter 896: Pretending to Be Strong
The other party didn’t respond. Ivy Jennings glanced around and spotted the man sitting on the sofa not far away.
It was indeed him. She felt a little delighted deep inside, along with a trace of nervousness and unease.
But finally, she saw him.
So, Ivy stared at Adrian Lancaster for a long ti. Why does he look so handso and charming, even when he’s troubled? He tugs at her heartstrings.
Adrian Lancaster could feel the woman’s burning gaze. He kept his face cold and didn’t look at her, sipping his drink alone to ease the troubles in his heart.
Ivy felt uncomfortable inside. Ignoring the two bodyguards, she held her wine glass, bypassed the bar, and strode towards the man under the shifting neon lights.
She still had her neat short hair, and a curvaceous figure in her tight skirt and high heels, exuding femininity, but she was actually not that old.
Adrian Lancaster still didn’t look at her. When Ivy approached, she was directly stopped by the other two bodyguards.
"Didn’t you not want to see ? Then why did you save ?" Ivy asked, though her heart was filled with joy.
He must care about her a little bit, right?
The man had no intention of replying upon hearing this. Adrian Lancaster’s mood tonight could be described as particularly terrible.
He had bottled up many emotions, and the only place to sit and drink was here, where he constantly missed his Faye.
Feeling blocked, Ivy was annoyed and forcefully shook off the hands of the bodyguards, stepping forward to stand in front of him in a few strides.
Sitting down on the sofa beside Adrian Lancaster, "President Lancaster, let’s settle the salary, shall we? You can transfer via WeChat."
As she spoke, she opened the paynt code and stretched out her phone, reminding him, "Rember you said... to pay double."
Adrian Lancaster didn’t want to owe her anything, so with one hand holding the wine glass, he took out his phone with the other and, without hesitation, scanned the code to transfer fifty thousand.
With a beep, the money was received.
Ivy wasn’t happy; instead, she felt a wave of heartache. He couldn’t be bothered to talk to her, but he transferred the money so readily.
Putting away her phone, the woman smiled teasingly, "President Lancaster can at least hear , so why didn’t you answer my question just now?"
Adrian Lancaster took a small sip of his cocktail, glanced at her with a slightly cold expression, and spoke in a deep, magnetic voice, "Ivy, I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I must clearly tell you..."
"I’m not into you," Ivy quickly interrupted, for the sake of her remaining dignity, "How are you so confident? Thinking I would want a man who’s been married? Who do you think you are?" As these words left her mouth, her heart seed to be cut by a sharp blade.
In the dim light, their eyes t, and Adrian Lancaster’s expression was calm. He said nothing more.
Ivy, however, laughed, tilted her head back, and drank the wine in her glass, then stood up with a seemingly casual grin and walked away.
She didn’t pester him or even glance at him again, but the love for him in her heart had never diminished one bit.
As she walked out of the bar, her eyes were reddening, her steps sowhat unsteady, and the cold night wind only made her feel more miserable...
Adrian Lancaster did not love Ivy Jennings. He would never fall for anyone other than Faye Turner.
About an hour later, just as Adrian Lancaster was gathering his feelings, preparing to head ho—
Three young n appeared, arms draped over each other’s shoulders, slightly tipsy—
"This is my first ti at a bar. I’m not happy." Milo Turner was the one in the middle, shouting drunkenly, "I thought drinking would make forget my sister, but... her image is only clearer in my mind."
When Adrian Lancaster first saw him, he was furious, but upon hearing him say this, his heart softened instantly... and he too felt a pang of sorrow.
