She instantly woke up, pulled the doorbell plug out, afraid of waking the child.

With her heart in her mouth, she looked outside through the peephole, initially thinking it would be Mr. and Mrs. Shaw causing trouble, but unexpectedly...

Her heart tightened, and she quickly opened the door, "Chase?"

Chase Fletcher leaned forward and fell into Rachel Sherman’s arms. Rachel staggered a step back under his weight and instinctively held him, overwheld by the sll of alcohol.

"Be careful, Chase." She supported him with effort, slowly guiding him into the house, "Careful."

Finally, when she got Chase onto the sofa, Rachel was drenched in sweat, panting as she raised a hand to wipe her forehead.

Then she rushed to close the door, quickly poured a cup of warm water, and knelt down in front of the sofa, first feeling his forehead, "Do you want a drink of water first?"

He didn’t answer, clearly had too much to drink, lying limp on the sofa with his eyes closed.

Rachel was very anxious, shaking his hand, only to accidentally discover that his palm had blood!

Her eyes widened, staring at the sticky red, her heart sank heavily, "Chase! Are you hurt?"

Chase lay on the sofa with his eyes closed, shook his head slightly, feeling discomfort. Seeing this, Rachel quickly let go of his hand and got up to fetch the first aid kit.

Panic-stricken, racing against ti, carrying the box over, she nearly tripped over the coffee table onto the sofa, thankfully managing to steady herself in ti, though her knee did get bumped.

"Chase, how did you get hurt? Do you have any other injuries?"

She put down the first aid kit and quickly checked the rest of his body, finding no other injuries.

She felt sowhat relieved, kneeling in front of the coffee table, quickly opened the first aid kit, and began to clean the blood from his palm with such care and suppressed the pain in her heart, her delicate eyebrows constantly knitting together! She was so tense, she didn’t even dare breathe heavily.

The wound in his palm looked like it was... cut by a bottle?

She wasn’t a doctor, so she couldn’t be sure.

However, this wound seed to cut her heart, Rachel fell painfully with it!

Her movents were so careful, afraid to hurt him but also needing to clean out the glass shards from the wound—

"Bear with it, Chase, I need to wash and disinfect it." Rachel said with deep concern, "Otherwise, it will swell up by tomorrow."

"Mm." Chase heard her words, lying on the sofa with one hand casually placed on his forehead, enduring the pain in his palm. He had indeed drunk a lot, his head pounding as if ready to explode, now feeling an excruciating headache.

The night was silent, and the ticking of the hanging clock on the wall was distinctly audible in the room.

Having cleaned his wound, she applied so antiseptic and then carefully bandaged it.

Her touch was so gentle, afraid of causing him pain.

"Chase." Gently holding his freshly bandaged hand, she tenderly placed it on her cheek, kneeling by the sofa, Rachel softly called his na, "Chase, does anything else feel uncomfortable?"

She didn’t ask him what happened, why he ended up like this, or why he didn’t go ho...

She just felt a deep compassion for him.

Chase heard Rachel’s familiar voice, and even though he had drunk a lot, he knew he was at her house at that mont, which inexplicably comforted him.

"Rachel..." His eyes remained closed, throat dry, "Rachel..." he softly called her na, at this mont, really wanting to hold her.
