When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster Chapter 776: Rachel Sherman Is Very Kindhearted
"Co on, grab on! Villager!"
The fire brigade had been deployed, each young man facing the natural disaster, aware of how insignificant human strength can be, yet believing that united hearts can conquer all.
It truly feels like while the flood is rciless, the love is boundless.
This is a city subrged in water, filled with people needing rescue, Rachel Sherman, a seasoned journalist, has witnessed grand scenes.
Yet, her eyes were wet.
Because for the first ti, she felt that houses were as fragile as paper, easily turned with a flip, as brittle as branches, easily broken.
She also deeply understood the privilege of military priority.
When disaster strikes, soldiers are the first to step up. Respect to the soldiers, they truly work hard.
Not far away, a grandfather and his grandson were hugging a big tree in panic, the water was almost above the child’s head. Perhaps they were too weak, or too afraid, and didn’t call out for help.
Rachel, having just pulled two children onto the dinghy, headed towards them without hesitation, "There are an elderly person and a child there!"
Her colleagues glanced in that direction and joined Rachel in moving there together, making it harder to be swept away by water.
Just after rescuing the elderly and child onto the dinghy, they discovered a kitten not far away, struggling in the water.
It was also a life, so they didn’t hesitate to save that cat...
"There’s a lady there!" a colleague noted, pointing to a short-haired, middle-aged woman with a curly perm, a plump figure floundering in the water.
The situation was extrely urgent, she must be choking on water, unable to swim, flailing her arms.
The rescue team was overwheld, people needing rescue were everywhere.
So Rachel and her colleague, risking being swept away by the flood, quickly but carefully reached the middle-aged woman, lifting her up from behind —
"Thank you, thank you, thank God, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die! Cough cough!" Mrs. Shaw, soaking wet like a drowned rat, seed to see a glimr of hope for life as she was pulled from the water.
Just by hearing the voice, Rachel knew it was her forr mother-in-law.
Seeing her disheveled face, Rachel realized she must have recently co over to Dylan Shaw’s aunt’s house.
"No need to thank us, it’s what we should do." At this ti, Rachel’s colleague responded, not knowing who she was, "Ma’am, we need to support you to the dinghy, hold on a bit longer."
At this mont, the rescue team’s dinghy also paddled in this direction.
Rachel also held onto Mrs. Shaw’s arm, not saying a word, with the sa dedication as helping others, aiding her in the arduous journey through the water.
Mrs. Shaw kept silent, devoid of her usual arrogance.
Strangely, Rachel felt a pang of sadness, a peculiar taste in her heart, as this forr family had finally reached such a state.
Until they were about to reach the dinghy, Mrs. Shaw turned and asked her, "Rachel, why are you here?"
"I’m a journalist, reporting on the disaster here, and when I have ti, I participate in rescue efforts, doing what I can." She replied softly.
Mrs. Shaw turned her head away without speaking further, not even glancing at her once they boarded the dinghy.
Two hours later, Rachel and her colleagues, also exhausted, climbed onto the dinghy. They turned on their equipnt again, starting to report on the disaster and the hardships encountered by the rescue teams.
As the cara was capturing the surrounding environnt, she accidentally spotted a new rescue team, with ’Fletcher Group’ emblazoned on their dinghy.
She suddenly realized, Chase Fletcher was here!
But he couldn’t find her...
Her phone had been water-damaged, so she quickly asked her colleague nearby, "Flora, is your phone still working?"
"The backup phone still works, it has a bit of battery left." In the midst of speaking, her colleague had already handed it over to her.
Rachel reached out to take it, "Thank you." She quickly dialed Chase Fletcher’s number.
anwhile, Chase Fletcher, who had arrived last night, was anxious the whole night. He believed once his rescue team infiltrated the city, Rachel, as a journalist, would definitely see them.
