Sitting in the armchair, Adrian Lancaster took her hand and gently rubbed it in his palm.

Then he gave her a gentle pull, bringing her onto his lap, "Faye, what’s wrong? Why did you suddenly speak up for her?"

Facing the man’s deep gaze, Faye Turner thought for a mont and told him about what happened when Nanny Warren ca to see her this morning.

And the ssage that Nanny Warren conveyed.

Adrian Lancaster listened, his brows furrowing more tightly, his face changing slightly. He said sowhat sternly, "Listen, from now on, you’re not allowed to et her alone! Nanny Warren isn’t a good person either!"

She sensed his concern and quickly explained, "No, I wasn’t alone—it was just in the yard... Don’t be angry."

"In the future, don’t let her inside. Whatever she has to say can be said at the door, or she can keep it to herself," Adrian Lancaster was angry at Nanny Warren, but didn’t want to take it out on his wife.

"Adrian, the problem now is, what if your mom really isn’t clear-minded and joins Brandon Lancaster against you?"

"Even ten Brandons wouldn’t be a match for . I’ve already had soone keeping an eye on him," Adrian Lancaster said, "If there’s any movent, he’s just courting death himself."

"What’s the use of monitoring him? He’s in the dark while you’re in the light." She remained worried.

Adrian Lancaster knew she was very worried, so he reached out to smooth her hair, a slight smile on his lips, "I’m gathering evidence of his cris. Soon, I’ll have him locked up."

Facing his gaze, Faye Turner felt a bit more at ease after hearing this.

Perhaps he had his own rules for survival, given his high position.

"Can you take so ti to visit Dad tomorrow?" she asked gently, looking peacefully at him, changing the subject, "Because I already told him that you’ll definitely co ho tomorrow. He’s looking forward to seeing you."

"Hmm." Adrian Lancaster nodded, "Alright, I always do what I promise."

The girl nodded while sitting on his lap.

The man reached out to wrap his arm around her waist, his gaze falling on her beautifully shaped lips.

In the silent room, under the warm yellow light, Faye Turner felt the heat of his gaze and slowly leaned in to initiate a kiss on his thin lips...

The mont their lips touched, Adrian Lancaster reached to hold the back of her head, deepening the kiss.

Three in the morning.

In the old and traditional Lockwood Old Manor.

Eliza Hayes lay on the bed, sweating profusely, her closed eyes moving restlessly, her hands gripping the bedding tightly as she fell into a terrible nightmare...

In her dream, Caleb Lancaster not only stood up but was tall and broad.

He spoke fluently, "Go to hell, Eliza Hayes; evil begets evil! Go to hell!"

He led a group of subordinates, cold and sharp eyes staring at her in the closed-off room.

In his hand was a long knife, pressing forward step by step, forcing her to retreat.

Finally pushing her into a corner, his gaze as cold as a blade.

Eliza Hayes was so scared she felt her soul almost leave her body. She stared wide-eyed in panic, watching as the knife rose and fell, stabbing her one cut after another. She was in pain but couldn’t utter a sound...

In reality, the bedroom with the small night light on.

Eliza Hayes lay in bed, huge beads of sweat soaking the covers, her throat feeling as if gripped by a ghost—

"No... no... don’t..." ca the hoarse voice.

"No!!" Finally, she cried out!

Sitting up with a start, gasping for air, sweat still dripping down her forehead.

Her entire nightgown was soaked.

The night was cold and eerie, the wind howling outside, signaling another change in weather.

At this mont, the door softly opened, and Nanny Warren appeared at the entrance. With the warm yellow glow of the small night light, she saw the woman sitting on the bed with a panicked expression.

The woman slowly raised her eyes, her whole body wrapped in fear, still not cald.

Just as Nanny Warren took a step inside, she threw off the covers, got out of bed, and rushed to hug Nanny Warren.

"Nanny Warren, I... I dread that that man stood up! He stood up! He had a knife and wanted to kill ..."

The dream was too terrifying!
