In the previous tiline, the zombies were still quite a distance away from the bus, and they only gathered upon hearing the commotion in the managent office. With that thought in mind, Shen Nianzu quickly mapped out the route in mind and chose the shortcut that would bring them straight to the exit.
The trio did not take the cobblestone path this ti and instead ventured into the shrubbery. The echo of their hurried steps seed to be magnified indefinitely along with the rustling grass and bushes around. Alas, despite their discreet movents, evading the zombies all the ti proved to be impossible as the slightest noise would snap them to attention, causing them to converge on the trio’s location.
Shen Nianzu gave a signal with his hands, which earned him a nod from the other two.
Gu Luoxin started first by binding the closest crowd of zombies together with his bandages prop. Seizing the opportune mont, Shen Nianzu imdiately sprang into action. With a powerful swing of his blade, icy bursts of purple energy crackled through the air, swiftly cleaving the zombies’ skulls in clean halves!
Ghastly spectacle of blood and brain matter suspended in the air, highlighting the gleaming intensity in Shen Nianzu’s eyes and his blade that was pulsing in a purple glow. In a flash, the undead crumpled beneath his feet, making him look like a walking calamity who carried destruction whenever he trod.
Cool! Jin Jiuchi secretly raised a thumbs up, then turned his attention to his fair share of zombies. Cracking his knuckles, he lunged forward and crushed their heads with his bare hands! An eerie laughter of ’kekeke’ escaped his lips as he took down one zombie after another, sounding just like a perverted madman.
"Crazy bastard..." Shen Nianzu couldn’t help but curse the damned husky under his breath. He hissed in anger, "Shut your mouth if you don’t want to accidentally swallow their blood and get infected!"
Gu Luoxin hurriedly sidestepped to avoid being splattered by the disgusting mixture of rotten blood and brain matter. The three of them cooperated seamlessly as they obliterated all the zombies in the area, and then they pushed forward.
Taking the shortcut, it only took them five minutes to reach the outer wall of the park. Shen Nianzu was just debating whether they should just climb over or take a short detour to the gate when Jin Jiuchi took the matters into his own hands.
When Gu Luoxin was not paying attention, Jin Jiuchi snatched the bandages prop from his grasp. He only had the ti to utter a puzzled ’huh?’ before the prop wrapped around himself and Shen Nianzu. And the next second, they were brought soaring through the air!
"A—hmph!" Gu Luoxin’s scream only lasted for a split second before he clasped his hand over his mouth, his head spinning as he looked at the ground that was growing further beneath his feet. "Give a man so warning, will you?!" He chastised in a hushed and shaky voice. His gaze inadvertently swept over the park and he spotted the suspicious movents of so zombies who were moving in the opposite direction. It appeared like they had been attracted by sothing – and who else would it be if not for their attackers?
Filled with excitent, Gu Luoxin instantly wanted to share the good news, "Xiao Shen, Da Shen! We really manage to—ah!" His heart almost jumped out of his throat when his body was abruptly yanked down by gravity, only to launch into the air again after Jin Jiuchi took another impossibly high leap!
Jin Jiuchi had not been flying at all. Instead, he was jumping across rooftops to avoid the zombie below! And much to Gu Luoxin’s dismay, as he was too focused by the observation below, he did not even notice that Jin Jiuchi had taken Shen Nianzu into his arms, leaving him alone who was dangling precariously from the end of the bandages where the zombies could reach his legs if they were to stretch their hands upwards!
Gu Luoxin: QAQ
I’m not envious about this preferential treatnt. Not at all.
He let out a muted shriek when a certain zombie climbed onto the back of another and almost touched his calf. On pure reflex, he kicked at them, sending them flying in the opposite direction. "Da Shen, can’t you pull up higher?!" He pleaded with tears in his eyes.
"Oops, sorry there!" ca the reply from the exuberant Jin Jiuchi, who did not sound guilty at all. Luckily, he did indeed hoist Gu Luoxin higher, sparing him from the fate of being a fragrant bait for the zombies. As they moved further away, the zombies could only stretch their necks futilely, blindly pursuing them and colliding with each other like a bunch of sardines.
"Ain’t this better, Nian’er?" Jin Jiuchi grinned at the jade doll in his arms, the wind tousling his unruly black hair.
It was really strange how Jin Jiuchi could always find a way to have fun even in the most perilous mont.
Well, perhaps that was just how he really was. Shen Nianzu scoffed, an amused smile tugging at his lips. He had to admit that this thod of travel was really way better, even better than the car they had before. They were much faster, and no zombies could catch up with them either. "You’re right, it’s way better like this. Good job for finding this effective shortcut," he acknowledged as he reached out to ruffle the man’s soft hair.
Had it been the Shen Nianzu of a month ago, he would never have given Jin Jiuchi the satisfaction of having the upper hand. But now this silly husky had beco his boyfriend, and he had even died once to protect him, so Shen Nianzu did not hold back on his praise.
Gu Luoxin, who was forced to witness their lovey dovey interaction: double attack!
Jin Jiuchi was so delighted by the unexpected praise that he could ascend straight to Heaven, though his mouth still tried to maintain a modicum of humility, "Hehe, it’s nothing. This is easy peasy lemon squeezy!"
Shen Nianzu cast him a speechless look. "Where did you learn that phrase from?"
"Of course, it’s from Xinxin!" Jin Jiuchi answered in a heartbeat, unaware that his answer almost caused a certain soone to cough out blood.
Triple attack!
"Oh..." Shen Nianzu drawled his words with a aningful tone, prompting Gu Luoxin to cower in fear like a shivering little animal. H–He really did not do it on purpose! He had just ntioned it once when he was talking with Jin Jiuchi, but who could have guessed that the man would take it to heart and even added it to his daily vocabulary?!

Fortunately, before the situation could escalate and send Gu Luoxin straight to his demise, Shen Nianzu suddenly caught sight of sothing and patted Jin Jiuchi’s arm. "Wait, stop for a mont."
Following his instruction, Jin Jiuchi landed on the nearest rooftop, lowered the jade doll to his feet and inquired curiously, "What is it? We haven’t arrived at the train station yet, have we?"
"Look over there," Shen Nianzu pointed in a certain direction. There, at so distance away and previously went unnoticed due to their lack of this vantage point, stood a massive roadblock. It was unknown what city this was or what had caused it to end up in such a harrowing state, but signs of a fierce battle could be seen everywhere. The street was strewn with haphazardly parked cars and bodies of both zombies and humans. However, it was not the carnage that seized Shen Nianzu’s attention.
"It’s... a military truck?" Gu Luoxin was stunned for a second before excitent washed over him. "Oh my God, that’s really a military truck. I can even see a few bodies in army uniforms on the ground. Is it possible that we will find weapons there?!"
Instead of answering, Shen Nianzu asked, "How many minutes do we have left?"
Gu Luoxin provided a quick response, "Five minutes and thirteen seconds!"
"Good," Shen Nianzu remarked, his eyes narrowing with focus. "We will take two minutes to go there and search. Two minutes. Even if we find nothing later, we must leave and go to the train station. Is that clear?"
"Yes, Sir!" Jin Jiuchi and Gu Luoxin affird in unison.
