"Sorry, Brother Xu. I let my emotions get the better of ."

Xu Jia heard Liuu Jun’s words, but what could he do? Liuu Jun was Liuu Yuming’s cousin and so much younger than him. Was he really going to hold a grudge over it?

Besides, the kid had just said a few harsh words. It wasn’t worth making a big deal out of it.

"It’s fine. Is everything really settled?"

Liuu Jun: "It is. Luckily, the police arrived quickly, and my dashcam was on the whole ti. I just took a couple of punches during the fight." He lifted his shirt, revealing a bruise on his ribs.

Liuu Yuming sighed. "Sothing this serious happens and you don’t even tell . I was wondering why you were acting so an; that’s not like you at all. You didn’t break a rib, did you? That’s a nasty bruise."

Seeing Liuu Jun’s eyes shift away, Liuu Yuming’s face hardened. "Tell the truth."

"I wasn’t lying... one of my ribs just has a hairline fracture." Liuu Jun lowered his voice. "It’s just a fracture, Sis. You can’t hit ."

"Why would I hit you? If Auntie found out, she’d be worried sick. You have a fractured rib, so why aren’t you staying in the hospital? And you’re still running around all day?"

"As long as I don’t lift anything heavy, it’s fine." Liuu Jun grinned, his earlier hostility gone. "Sis, don’t tell my mom. She has a short fuse, and besides, the scamrs didn’t get off easy."

"I won’t tell her." Liuu Yuming couldn’t help but sigh again. "But maybe you should stay in the hospital. You’re not even married yet; you can’t risk any long-term health problems."

"No way. I’ll just rest at ho." Liuu Jun refused flatly. "Sis, I’m not going to the hospital. I already got all the dicine they prescribed. The doctor said it’s nothing serious."

Liuu Yuming’s heart ached just thinking about it, and a wave of indignation washed over her. "Who were those scamrs? How dare they resort to violence?"

Liuu Jun: "Just a group of professional scamrs. Luckily the police ca in ti and handled everything, so don’t worry about it."

Xu Jia, who had been observing for a while, suddenly asked, "The officer was a woman?"

Liuu Yuming’s eyes lit up instantly, fixed on Liuu Jun like a pair of lightbulbs. Liuu Jun nodded. "Yeah, a really good-looking female traffic cop. When she rode over on her motorcycle..."

The smile on Liuu Yuming’s face grew wider and wider. "Is that so? You should go rest in the living room."

Liuu Jun felt he had nothing to be ashad of, but for so reason, Liuu Yuming’s words made him feel a little embarrassed. He scratched the back of his head. "Alright, I’ll go to the living room then. Sis, stop smiling."

"Do I not even have the freedom to smile anymore?" Liuu Yuming teased, giving Liuu Jun a light push on the back. "I won’t make fun of you. You’ve always known your own mind."

After Liuu Jun left, Xu Jia naturally took over Liuu Yuming’s task and continued cooking. "I think he has a good impression of that female cop."

Liuu Yuming laughed. "He doesn’t like the whiny, tearful type of girl. I think Liuu Jun likes girls who are a bit more cool and tough. A motorcycle... I haven’t ridden one in years."

"It makes kind of nostalgic, thinking about it."

Xu Jia raised an eyebrow. "You like riding motorcycles?"

Liuu Yuming thought for a mont, then shook her head. "I just like them. I don’t dare to go too fast; my reflexes are a bit slow. Once, when I went out with Jun for a makeup gig, I rode a motorcycle straight into a wheat field. After that, no one would let ride one anymore."

"But I love watching other people ride, especially on those big bikes. They look so cool."

Xu Jia smiled. "I don’t think that’s the only reason you’re happy."

"Alright, alright, I know you’re clever," Liuu Yuming shot him a glance. "I just think Auntie won’t be so upset this year. We might actually have a peaceful New Year for once."

"Thinking about it just makes feel how unfair the world is. How can there be smart people like you and Little Min? What’s wrong with sharing so of that IQ with ?"

The fine lines around Xu Jia’s eyes crinkled as he laughed. "The smart people all listen to you. Isn’t that a good thing?"

Liuu Yuming thought about it and smiled too. "You’re right. Little Min pretty much listens to on all life matters. It’s actually quite fulfilling."

"If Jun really marries a police officer with a governnt post, Auntie would probably throw a huge banquet at ho. In my uncle and auntie’s eyes, a stable governnt job is incredibly important. You couldn’t trade it for any amount of money."

"We’re not even from S City, and that girl is. Plus, she’s a policewoman. Jun is definitely punching above his weight."

Xu Jia didn’t ntion that Liuu Jun was wealthy; clearly, to these two cousins, people were more important than money. "Auntie is just anxious. After all, your oldest cousin already has a grandchild, right? But Jun still hasn’t settled down. It’s better now, though. As long as he has soone he’s interested in, things should be a bit more relaxed."

The two of them were busy in the kitchen. Liuu Jun glanced over, then flopped onto the sofa. ’Speaking of which,’ he thought, ’I’m on leave right now. Should I go and ask around about that policewoman?’

Over the years, Liuu Jun had traveled all over and t plenty of n and won, including so whose beauty had made him do a double take. But that was all it ever was—until yesterday, when he t Tang Jing.

Liuu Jun felt that Tang Jing had made a huge impact on him. She had a neat short haircut, wheat-colored skin, thick eyebrows, and large eyes. There was almost no trace of soft, delicate femininity about her; she was the complete opposite of his cousin, Liuu Yuming.

But Liuu Jun couldn’t tear his eyes away from Tang Jing. He just found every single thing about her especially pleasing. He used to think describing a girl as a rose was incredibly cheesy, but after seeing Tang Jing, he felt the rose was a perfect fit for her.

If his cousin Liuu Yuming was a dazzling, scorching rose, then Tang Jing was a wild rose growing alone in the wilderness—and a battle-scarred one at that, which only made her seem all the more extraordinary.

’Maybe I’ll go to the traffic police station tomorrow and ask around?’ he mused. ’Soone like Tang Jing has to be famous there.’

Liuu Jun was supposed to be resting and recovering from his injury, but he didn’t actually stay at ho. After visiting a few shops in the morning, he went to the nearby traffic police headquarters. But when he asked the guard at the gate about Tang Jing, he felt the man’s gaze on him turn strange.

How to describe that look? It was as if he were looking at a brave warrior.

Sure enough, the next second, the man whipped out the walkie-talkie on his hip with a CLICK. "Captain Tang, Captain Tang, soone’s here for you at the gate."

"Roger that," a slightly hoarse female voice replied. "I’m on my way. The rest of you, continue training!"

Liuu Jun stood in the reception office, looking at the excited young man opposite him. "I’m here to see your Captain Tang. What’s with the big reaction?"

"Ha, just surprised, is all. Buddy, what do you do for work? You’re dressed pretty sharp." The man struck up a conversation with Liuu Jun with practiced ease, though it might have also been because Liuu Jun had just offered him two packs of good cigarettes.

"I... I’m a wedding planner," Liuu Jun said with a smile. "If you ever need wedding photos or want to plan a wedding, I’ll give you a forty percent discount. Guaranteed one-stop, full-service treatnt."
