The Moonprint Gu Worms in different blood pools are different. On this blood bone-composed mountain, the eggs in the lowest blood pool are still in their initial form, just like when taken from a human’s wrist, while higher-up eggs have started growing towards the at-Winged Monster’s form.
Eggs at different stages are in different pools, and the higher the pool, the closer the eggs are to hatching.

Thus, when humans in Changpan Valley go hunting, desolate beasts rarely kill them, as the Moonprint Gu Worms seeking self-preservation flee before desolate beasts swallow them, resulting in human death.
The reason Moonprint Gu Worms take human souls is to extract power from them, allowing them to escape back here, awaiting a new round of parasitic assignnt or directly hatching here.
