Chapter 37: Fusion! Crimson End α!
????In a heartbeat, the Three of Spades and her pack of Gale Wolves were engulfed by a tempest of crimson lightning.
??When the searing brilliance finally faded, only piles of Gale Wolf corpses remained strewn across the ground.
??The "Wind Cocoon," caught midway through its Evolution, had been shattered—leaving behind nothing but a single wisp of blue-green silk.
??Yet the Three of Spades was not dead.
??Leaning heavily on her battered wooden staff, she forced her wounded body upright. Her Spade mask had splintered, revealing the pale, blood-streaked face of the woman beneath.
??“What… What is this power—?! Is it so Anomalous Ability? Or magic?”
??She gritted her teeth, staring weakly at Mare Alera in the distance. Her eyes brimd with only one thing—terror.
??Then her gaze fell upon the ruined cocoon. Summoning the last of her strength, she rasped, “It doesn’t matter… The ritual is complete. My child!”
??“Descend—”
??“Return from the ancient Legendary Summon!”
??“Awooo—!”
??Before she could finish, that solitary strand of blue-green silk split open. From within, a massive, azure wolf’s paw crashed down.
??“So huge!”
??Bai Xuan couldn’t help but gasp.
??Just that single paw was over two ters long!
??The rest of the beast—surely it had to be over ten ters in length!
??As the thought flashed through his mind, the Gale Wolf King stepped forth from the Spatial Rift, its full form finally revealed.
??Compared to an ordinary Gale Wolf, it was colossal. Its body stretched far past ten ters, and atop its massive wolf head jutted a sharp green horn that shimred with a strange, ghostly light.
??“That’s the Wind Horn, isn’t it?”
??Bai Xuan’s eyes glimred with anticipation as he stared at the Gale Wolf King’s crown.
??At that very mont, Su Yue arrived on the scene.
??She stepped out of the Maybach and looked down from the bridge, her heart skipping a beat at the sight below.
??The threat that giant wolf posed was far beyond any ordinary Anomalous Disaster. It might even be D-class or higher!
??“Damn…”
??Su Yue’s brows knit in worry as she bit her finger, agitation clear in her every movent.
??Unease gnawed at her. This pack of Gale Wolves had co for her, and the man in the Sli Mask—whatever his true motives—was risking his life to save her.
??She couldn’t simply stand by and watch a stranger fight for her sake.
??“We have to help him!” Su Yue turned sharply to the old butler at her side.
??“Miss, I don’t believe he needs our help,” the butler replied, voice calm as ever.
??“Why not?”
??Su Yue frowned in confusion.
??“Have you not noticed? He’s remained perfectly calm this entire ti,” the butler observed, his tone steady.
??“?”
??Su Yue glanced at Bai Xuan. The Sli Mask’s round, googly eyes stared unblinking at the distant Gale Wolf King. If the mask’s expression reflected his true mood, he showed no fear at all. In fact… he almost looked excited.
??“What is with him…?”
??She bit her finger unconsciously, her round-toed shoes tapping anxiously against the ground.
??Who is this man, really?
??And why did he co to save ?
??One thing was clear—he wasn’t an Investigator.
??“Miss, if I recall correctly, there’s a rumor circulating in Ninghang City lately,” the butler said suddenly.
??“They say a man in a Sli Mask and a woman clad in armor have been quietly protecting the city.”
??“A woman knight?”
??Su Yue imdiately looked at Mare Alera beside Bai Xuan, skepticism in her voice. “That thing… doesn’t look like a woman knight to .”
??“Perhaps he has another companion,” the butler said kindly. “But one thing’s certain—they stand for justice. And… they’re formidable.”
??“Hm…”
??Su Yue nodded, her expression grave. “Prepare a few things for .”
??…
??“Hahahaha!”
??The mont the Gale Wolf King appeared, the Three of Spades threw aside her broken staff and burst into wild laughter. “Co, my child!”
??“Let’s fix this broken world together!”
??“Awooooo—!”
??At her command, the Gale Wolf King raised its head and howled at the sky. Its gaze, burning with hatred, locked onto Bai Xuan and Mare Alera, as if vowing vengeance for its fallen pack.
??“Kill them!”
??The Three of Spades gave the order without hesitation.
??Before the words had even left her mouth, the Gale Wolf King charged forward, each thunderous step shaking the earth as it barreled toward Bai Xuan and Mare Alera.
??“Hmph, it’s just an oversized mutt,” Mare Alera scoffed, ready to leap into battle.
??But Bai Xuan called out suddenly, “Wait, Little Mare—let’s try that thing.”
??“That thing?”
??Mare Alera blinked, then a grin of pure excitent spread across her lips. “Really, Human? You want to Fuse with ?”
??“Uh… yeah!”
??Bai Xuan nodded.
??“All right!”
??With giddy delight, Mare Alera dashed to Bai Xuan’s side, seized his hand, and declared, “Let’s Fuse!”
??“Fu—how do we do that?”
??Bai Xuan froze, at a loss—he’d never fused before.
??Just then, a Status Prompt flashed before his eyes:
??【Activate Bio-cha α Form?】
??【Yes or No】
??“Huh, α Form?”
??Bai Xuan didn’t hesitate. “Yes!”
??【Fusing!】
??The mont the prompt sounded, a dazzling red glow erupted, enveloping them both.
??“What’s happening?”
??The Three of Spades stared in confusion. Even the Gale Wolf King halted, wary of the crimson light.
??From within the brilliance, Mare Alera’s triumphant voice rang out:
??【Tremble and bear witness to my arrival!】
??【Crimson End α!】
??BOOM!
??The red light collapsed inward to a single point.
??And then—it appeared.
??A ten-ter-tall, fully armored crimson dragon stood before everyone’s stunned eyes.
??“What the—?!”
??From afar, Su Yue watched, her heart pounding in disbelief.
??She couldn’t believe what she was seeing!
??When the red light finally faded, a dragon-shaped cha had materialized out of thin air.
??And it looked—
??It looked like sothing out of those old sentai shows she’d watched as a child—
??No!
??It was far more intricate, far more awe-inspiring than any TV hero.
??It was vivid—alive.
??Every scale along its body seed to pulse with life, flexing and shifting, crackling with arcs of red lightning.
??It was as if the world itself was proclaiming its arrival.
??At the sa ti, Bai Xuan found himself in a strange, unfamiliar space.
??He was seated on a throne, surrounded by floating screens—each one displaying a live feed of the outside world.
??“So this is… Fusion Mode?”
??Bai Xuan looked around, heart pounding with excitent.
??At last, he was piloting a cha!
??—Wait.
??Suddenly, sothing felt off.
??He glanced around. Aside from the throne beneath him, the space was completely empty.
??“Eh? Where’s the control panel?”
??Bai Xuan froze.
??How was he supposed to pilot a cha with no controls?
??As he puzzled over it, a flash of white light appeared.
??Mare Alera materialized out of nowhere, landing directly in his lap.
??She bead at him, her eyes sparkling.
??“Human! Take control of ! Pilot
into battle!”
??“…?”
??“How do I do that?”
??“Grab them! Grab my dragon horns!”
??“Oh~”
