Chapter 76: Parting gift?
Michael crossed his arms, nodding slowly. "I like that idea. The industry can be tough on newcors. If you’re willing to put in the work, I’m all for it."
Katherine smiled, warming to the concept. "That could be beneficial for everyone. We can see your skills without the pressure of your title. You can contribute more freely that way."
Ricardo leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "I believe this could work. Zinnia, you have my support. If you feel this is the best way to learn and grow, I trust you."
"Thank you, Dad," Zinnia said, relief washing over her. "I really appreciate your understanding."
Sophie smiled slightly, a hint of respect in her eyes. "Alright, if we’re all in agreent, let’s finalize the character lists for the film. This is the mont we’ve been waiting for. We need to determine who fits best in each role."
The group got to work, reviewing the audition tapes and discussing the actors. They debated over roles, weighing pros and cons. Soon, the atmosphere beca charged with excitent. The room was filled with a sense of purpose as they finalized the cast list.
"This is it," Katherine said, pointing at a na on the list. "I think we should go with her for the lead. She has the right balance of talent and charisma."
Michael nodded, chiming in. "And he for the antagonist. He really brought that intensity we need."
Sophie took her ti considering each suggestion, her critical eye scanning the list. "Let’s not forget about the stunts. We need actors who can keep up with the physical demands. If they can’t deliver in that aspect, we can’t proceed."
As they worked, Zinnia took notes, trying to absorb everything she could. Each discussion felt like a masterclass in filmmaking. She listened closely, making ntal notes on how they made decisions, what qualities they valued, and how to negotiate among themselves.
After hours of intense discussion, they reached a consensus on the final cast list. Zinnia felt a surge of excitent at being part of sothing so significant. She couldn’t wait for the next steps, but she also knew her schedule would beco increasingly busy.
Once they had finalized the list, Ricardo spoke up. "Great job, everyone. This is a solid team. We’ll schedule a eting to introduce everyone officially next week. I want Zinnia to help with that process, so be prepared."
"Of course," Zinnia replied, her heart racing at the thought of taking on this new responsibility. "I’ll make sure everything is organized."
As the eting ca to a close, Zinnia felt a sense of accomplishnt. She was determined to make her mark, even if it ant doing so quietly for now. She wanted to learn and grow, proving herself in a way that felt genuine.
After everyone left, Ricardo turned to Zinnia with a proud smile. "You did well today. I’m proud of you for stepping up."
"Thanks, Dad," Zinnia replied, her voice warm. "I just hope I can really contribute to this project."
"You will," Ricardo said, his confidence reassuring.
As Zinnia sat in the now-empty room, her phone buzzed on the table. She picked it up and saw a ssage from Samuel: Are you having dinner out or at ho? Her heart skipped a beat at the thought of him.
She quickly typed back, I’ll be having dinner with my father. There was a slight pang of disappointnt in her chest. She had hoped they might have dinner together soon.
Samuel read her ssage and nodded slowly, the corners of his mouth turning down slightly. He understood, but that didn’t ease the feeling in his chest. Inside his office, Timmy, his assistant, sat quietly, waiting for Samuel’s last command of the day. Timmy had been working late, and the day’s discussions had left him exhausted.
"Got your ssage," Samuel replied to Zinnia. I understand. Enjoy your dinner with your dad. He typed with a sense of calm, even as a part of him longed for her company.
After sending the ssage, Samuel turned to Timmy. "What do you want for dinner?"
Timmy looked up, surprised. This was out of the blue. "Uh, I’m not sure. Whatever you’re having, I guess," he stamred, feeling a little caught off guard.
As the silence stretched, Timmy’s mind began to race. Was this a sign he had done sothing wrong? Did Samuel want to discuss his performance? His heart pounded as he considered the possibilities. Maybe he was being fired, he thought. After all, Samuel had a way of keeping things professional, and this sudden interest in his dinner plans felt odd.
Timmy glanced at Samuel, who seed unusually contemplative. Could this be a parting gift? Maybe Samuel wanted to treat him to one last al. Thoughts spiraled in Timmy’s mind. Had he missed sothing? Was there a mistake in the reports he had submitted? He couldn’t rember any glaring errors, but the thought of disappointing Samuel weighed heavily on him.
"Timmy?" Samuel’s voice broke through Timmy’s frantic thoughts. "You good?"
Timmy blinked, realizing he had zoned out. "Yeah, I just... was thinking. I an, I’m good with whatever you want to eat. I don’t need anything special."
Samuel raised an eyebrow, sensing Timmy’s unease. "Co on. Just tell
what you want. I can order sothing nice. You’ve been working hard lately."
The offer was generous, yet it made Timmy feel even more anxious. Why now? Samuel had never offered to treat him before. It felt loaded. What if this was just an excuse to let him go? The fear of the unknown gripped him. What if he had to find a new job? What if this was the end of his ti working with Samuel? He couldn’t shake the feeling that sothing was about to change, and it made him uneasy.
Taking a deep breath, Timmy decided to be brave. "Maybe so pizza? It’s been a long day, and I could use sothing comforting," he said, trying to keep his voice steady.
Samuel smiled at the suggestion. "Pizza it is. We can’t go wrong with that." He started scrolling through his phone for the best pizza place nearby, but Timmy’s thoughts continued to whirl.
